Star Wars Episode I: A Vergence In The Force
a TRUE FANEDIT by AdigitalMan
This removes the most offensive parts from the first prequel and turns it into a better movie. Jar-Jar’s slapstick and Anakin’s childishness have been widely removed. member ratings: |

INTENTION:
Simply put: To make the Prequels better
CUTLIST:
Complete script transcribed by TV’s Frink ->Â DOWNLOAD SCRIPT HERE
- New episode name “A Vergence in the Force”
- New crawl (Thanks to Darth Editous!!!)
- References to Amidala being an elected Queen of Naboo have been removed. Amidala is simply a young queen of a democratic constitutional monarchy, much like Great Britain’s government.
- Jar-Jar’s slapstick has been largely removed throughout the movie
- Anakin’s childishness has largely been removed throughout the movie
- Boss Nass’ strange tics have been removed
- There are no fart jokes or poop jokes
- No friggin’ midichlorians.
- Deleted scenes restored or partially restored include:
* Waterfall sequence
* Dawn before the race
* Extended Lap 2
* Anakin fighting Greedo
* Probe Droid following Qui-Gon and Anakin out of town – Earlier probe sequence was shifted here as well - Some extraneous bits of the Podrace sequence were removed.
- Music added behind the podrace to heighten the tension.
- Ask Aak’s line is now in Malastarian and subtitled to match his lines in Episode II.
- Jar Jar is not made a General. He simply fights alongside his fellow Gungans.
- A significant piece of the Gungan battle is removed due to Jar Jar’s antics. It is edited seamlessly without detriment to the story.
- Anakin’s ship is not on autopilot as he goes of to destroy the control ship. All all of his actions are deliberate.

I’d like to know who exactly considers this “…to be one of the best fanedits for the “X†around.”. I mean it’s on every single one of the Prequel FanEdits, and only one of them has a rating, and that’s a 3 out of 5. I mean if someone would tell me how these can compare to the quality of, say, “A New Hope Revisited” it’s give me a true litmus test of how “good” this fanedit is.

You cannot compare the prequel edits to A New Hope Revisited, so save yourself the time and effort. That project (Adywan’s masterpiece) is in a class by itself, due to the sheer time put into it. If you’re looking for every SW fanedit to look like ANH Revisited, you will be sorely disappointed. But, when you compare the prequel edits, ADM’s edits are beyond acceptable replacements. Until EpIII, Lucasfilm lost their way with the Star Wars saga. ADM and the others have simply helped them ‘course-correct”. But if you want to know the quality of a movie, and nobody’s reviewed it, why not download it and tell US about it yourself?

Ok, I downloaded HJ-Split and joined the files into 1 image file. Unfortunately, I get the following error message in Nero: “Sorry, this is not a valid Nero disc image file”. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this problem?

This is as good as this movie is going to get. Anakin is actually a somewhat likable kid, who destroys the control ship himself instead of “accidentally.” (This is a crucial change to his character, imho.) Jar-Jar has been edited into an almost tolerable character, and in general that pace has been improved remarkably. I’ve also seen Slumberland’s and the Phantom Editor’s edits, and this one is superior.

A definite improvement over the original by editing out and adding in certain key elements. If you like Gl’s version, you’ll love this.

Having been a star wars fan since 1977 i could not wait for the phantom menace to appear and when it did i was left with mixed feelings over what could have been the greatest star wars movie ever…..what spoiled it? for a start jar jar binks was too over the top….anakin was too childish and anoying….medicloreans? what the hell was that all about?…well this fan edit just about puts everything right and i have to say this is now the film i was hoping for

my favorite cut of TPM thus far. it’s not perfect, but i think it’s the best one available yet.
it’s mostly very professional. i found only the planet core sequence to be a little sloppy.
i could do without the waterfall deleted scene, and the discussion about Anakin having no father. could trim jar jar a little more at the dinner table as well.
otherwise, great job! 4 stars. excellent quality and makes the film very enjoyable to watch.
WONDERFUL choice to make Anakin’s piloting at the end all deliberate. kudos.

Another bullseye edit! I never realized how much better it can be by simply removing jar-jar slapstick. I just wonder why the darth maul speech was removed.

I’m not sure who widely considers this to be the best TPM edit out there – especially when it says that on all 3 ADM edits for Star Wars!
Personally, I think Attack of the Phantom is almost perfect as it removes all the bits I despised the most(rather than ADM’s version). Anyway, I digress.
I like ADM edits, this editor has done some of my favourite edits thus far, such as Blade Runner.
Here though, I feel the edit just hasn’t gone far enough. Jar Jar is still annoying, the Neimoidians are still dodgy-Chinese, stupid dialogue still exists. Re-inserted scenes like the waterfall scene don’t really add to the story. I’ve previously watched Balance of the Force by Magnoliafan – and this went so much further to improve the film. This is more subtle and maybe for some OK. I wanted more.

Well done Adigitalman. I gave you 8/10. I gave Phantom Edit 9/10. Overall I feel phantom editor did a slightly better job staying focused on story and keeping it paced well and cutting cutting cutting. On the other hand you deserve a great deal of credit. With the exception of a few minor sound edit glitches I noticed in an attempt to silence jar jar, the editing was well done and the video quality was maintained better than Phantom Edit.
Clearly you were a big fan of the pod race and added onto it. It is most certainly the most enjoyable action sequence other than the saber battle at end. But it does drag a bit too long and is too childish in your version for my taste. Better to keep the movie moving quickly and keep it under 2 hours. On a positive note, I think I like your cut of the end battle sequence possibly more than Phantom Editors. He left in a couple lines from Anakin and a few more jar jar antics than I cared for. On a negative note, you left in the flying through the planet’s core and subsequent waterfall sequence that is possibly the most retarded sequence in the whole movie.
All in all, criticisms aside, 8/10 is pretty high marks from my critical ass.

I liked it but still too much Jar Jar and too much silly comments from Anakin in the end battle.
Overall it was a good edit. I am really impressed by the overall skill of the editors on this site.
I would give it a 6.5-7/10. Still think the Phantom Edit is the best all around.
Keep up the good work!

I’m having a problem with this movie; I can’t seem to play it past the scene where they land on Tattooine. Anyone else have this problem?
