I couldnt even get to the end of it…
So many hard cuts I found it jarring, it had good potential with its opening; completely cutting Marys death (which Im simply fed up of seeing) – fortunately Sams over the top dialogue when reunited with Dean in the pilot helped fill in the backstory for the boys and the existance of monsters.
From here we cut to the ‘mullet rock’ scene… then theres a sudden jump into the Wendigo episode and Sam and Dean meeting the hunting party that have zero introduction.
The fireside camping scene seems the only reasonable use of this episode, explaining the existance of the Johns Journal – a scene that with good editing could of merely been the boys camping during the night time drive to Johns location, instead we have to sit through a painful edit of Wendigo…
Theres a harsh cut at the end of the episode, with classic rock music playing directly after Sam and Dean being all emotional on the bonnet of Metallicar, confirming their commitment to find John.
The cars headlights are both intact… then half a second later, we’re down to one functional headlight; due to a harsh cut back to the pilot episode (presumably to show Jess death) – any external driving scene from the series would of sufficed but using this one is a continity error.
And thats where I couldnt stand to watch any further.

More then welcome to review me just as harshly, at least you’ve done something – this current laptop seems to reject all the video editing softwear I’ve previously become familiar with.

Hey it’s all good, I’ll agree there are some hard cuts, but non quite as jarring as you say, however you quit watching before everything glued together. However as you refer to Windigo as painful, It is normal form I would tend to agree with you, but trimmed down it serves its purpose well. As far as just making it a camping trip, that may seem easy but its not, that thought crossed my mind but every shot of them in the woods has the rest of the people in the background. With the nature of Supernatural without leaving in the commerical breaks that fade to black there is nothing to cut to and come back to in this show, It has no supporting cast minus the Hunt of the week, so yes you are right from time to time it cuts from them say in the day at the car to later at night in the woods. It is what it is. As far as the car headlight, Givin I didn’t notice that, but you are right that is a small issue that could be corrected.
Shame you stopped there because thats when things started to get good story wise. But to each thier own, I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy it, But others have and I do. So to each their own.
Happy editing
