Miami Vice (Go-Fast Edition)
by geKKo
What is it about? Most of the romantic stuff between Crockett and Isabella have been minimized. You can still see something developing between them, but we don’t see them sharing their life stories over mojitos in Cuba.

Additional Comment:
Most of the romantic stuff between Crockett and Isabella have been minimized. You can still see something developing between them, but we don’t see them sharing their life stories over mojitos in Cuba. The romantic storyline between Tubbs and Trudy has also been minimized. Whether they’re seeing each other or not is no longer clear (is it part of their cover or is it real?). When Trudy gets hurt, Tubbs stays with her at the hospital, so that implies there’s something more between them. Gina, Trudy, Switek, and Zito are still around but don’t have many lines. A lot of the “talky” scenes have been trimmed to keep the pace up.
The new intro uses the old theme song from the TV show using footage from the go-fast boat race.
There actually isn’t a whole lot of action in this movie to begin with, but at 92 minutes it’s a much leaner, more intense ride.

This movie was soooo dissapointing, I went to the theatre expecting Gold…but what soiled my eyes Ladies and Gentlemen was a turd, coated in Gold Paint.
Holy Shit, the movie was long, overly pretentious, a total vanity project and let’s not forget………BORING!
Seriously Nothing happened for 130minutes…Now I’m a huge Michael Mann fan and with the talent behind this I was looking forward to this film a lot, but there were just too many faults for this to be enjoyable. The Unrated Director’s Cut didn’t change my opinion much either!
This edit is fast, quick to the point and does Exactly what it says on the tin. The little that actually did happen now feels better paced and makes the movie very enjoyable. I haven’t seen the movie since opening night at theatre but i certainly remember the differences…There’s less character development in this version which actually didn’t bother me much…because it felt flawless. Very smooth and i LOOOOOVED the theme music you added! Great touch.
Where i once gave the movie 3/10 before for being long, overly talky and boring..i did think it was visually and stylistically amazing.
This movie now gets a solid 8/10…for just being better in every possible way
Good Job.

Thief, Manhunter, Heat, Collateral. Before this Go-Fast Edition came along, Miami Vice felt like a distant cousin to the aforementioned films. Now Miami Vice can be spoken in the same breath and dare I say referred to as Michael Mann’s masterpiece. I’ve seen the Robbery Homicide Division episode that the film was based on when a made for TV episode is better than the theatrical version, something’s wrong. Gekko remedied this problem. Although I would’ve kept Crockett ordering a mojito at the start of the film, the mutual gaze shared between Crockett and Isabella after meeting with Archangel and that Cuban dance was picture perfect, everything else that was trimmed away was called for. The only gripe I have is the quality of the credits at the start of the film. Seeing that Mann went without start credits in Collateral I thought that Gekko would continue the trend but then again that sweet reference to Anthony Yerkovich was priceless.
10/10!!

BTW, I wonder if Gekko could obtain the cut scenes featuring Tom Towles.
