I think some of the silliness could still have been trimmed: the captive guard at the bank, for example. Did we really need the “Ooohh noo, it’s acid!” line? Their shocked looks down cutting immediately to his glasses falling off would have sufficed. And his melting shoes line…again, we can SEE it happening. And the Whore Chase scene, I think, could have been judiciously cut in spots.

Jim Carrey I always have a soft spot for, so to me, his silliness in the movie works. After all, he’s The Riddler; the villain has always been a little crazy. Maybe it’s a bit too much, but when you ask Jim Carrey to take the role…..

Tommy Lee Jones, however, was horribly, terribly miscast, and even as a fourteen year old seeing it for the first time, I knew it. It’s almost painful to see sometimes, even in a cut that adds some of the depth the actor sacrificed. Especially now, after seeing The Dark Knight’s take on the character, it’s a shame to see. Thankfully, the garish pink makeup and costume has been toned down in this edit.

Some of the overall colour does suffer from too much de-saturation, but in an fan edit emulating Burton’s style, it’s not a bad thing. Overall, a great attempt to salvage a movie that wasn’t quite as terrible as its successor, but was still quite painful.

I also liked how you desaturated some of the bright neon colors. I didn’t realize just how glaring they were until I saw how much better it looks toned down.

I think the only thing that you didn’t cut that I really wish you would have was Two-Face repeatedly flipping his coin at Wayne Manor. I always hated that part. When he flips the coin he should abide by what it says and not keep flipping it to get a desired outcome, otherwise what is the point? I wonder if you could cut out the first couple of coin flips, and just include the one where he gets the scarred side and then tries to shoot Bruce….. make it look like he was just lying in wait before he ultimately decided to flip the coin.

Other than that, not much to add that hasn’t already been said. Nice job!!

i can happily say that this is a great fanedit and a 4/5 from me. i really enjoyed the excised silliness and unnecessary elements and what was added helps a great deal. the image overall DID seem degraded and was a bit distracting.

On the other hand, here are some thoughts on how you could improve your edit :

- The whole scene where Chase meets Batman on the top of the police station is simply awkward and doesn’t add anything to the movie. Do we really need to see her acting like a whore to understand her attraction to Batman? The Dark Knight edit has come up with an interesting alternative, by having the Wayne Enterprises scene taking place right BEFORE Two-Face’s introduction at the bank heist.
- Some of Jim Carrey’s antics are funny, but sometimes less is more;
- Robin could use less screen time: O’Donnell is good as Dick Grayson, but Robin’s introduction as Batman’s partner is somewhat contrived. For example having him captured by Two-Face’s frogmen instead of being rescued by Batman would be a good start; his fight with Two-Face on the top of the island is just cliché and pointless (what was Two-Face doing alone out there anyway?);

And finally, you should create a torrent in order to share this wonderful edit! Having to download 42 .rar parts on Rapidshare is extremely tedious.

For the first time, I can actually say I like Kilmer as Batman, and I don’t find Robin annoying and he comes off much more sympathetic.

For making this watchable, and making me *like* Batman Forever (which up until now, I didn’t) a 5 out of 5

What you’ve done though is exactly what the film needed – removed the silly campy, bits and added all the introspective, reflective character development deleted scenes(which I’d never seen before!). We now understand WHY Batman retires, WHY he resumes again and HOW he resolves the personal issues.

It feels darker and the actual look of the film seems to be grainier. I absolutely love the ending. That had it come off very dark. There’s only one scene in the whole film that I would love to see changed. It’s when we first go to Edward Nygma’s apartment and some silly song starts playing – the camera work actually implies that a darker score was going to be used – but it appears that they changed it to make it more fun.

Anyway. Well done.

Batman Forever however, has often found itself more chastised than acclaimed. Fans are still sour over director Joel Schumacher allowing the camp to dominate aspects of this film, the fact that Tommy Lee Jones forsakes much of Two-Face’s duality and potential to play The Joker didnt help much either.

But perhaps the biggest criticicm, was that several scenes intergral to the story, scenes that were seen in the trailers, commercials, and even the comic and novel adaptations, were CUT from the film. This includes everything that has been restored here. Courtesy of the deleted scenes section of the two-disc Batman Forever Special Edition, these scenes have now been restored, complete with intense, beutifully added scores that serve to highlight the significance and darkness of these scenes. Two-Face’s rant is also slightly cut from the opening of the bank vault scene, barring his more subtle performance as the contemplative Harvey at the beggining.

The Bat-Butt transformation is gone, in its place is the gripping opening scene at Arkam Asylum, where Harvey escapes, followed by the now red-titled Batman Forever screen, then the Batmobile racing out of the Batcave. The film REALLY shines however, when you watch the restored scenes with the music undertoning the performances

Once you watch this movie, you will understand Batman Forever on a much deeper level than before, whilst you may still think Carrey’s performance, retained here for the most part, is too camp, or Two-Face remains as less inspired by his source material, it does not take away from a very real, very different Batman story that adds gravitas to the potential of the character in cinema. Tim Burton’s Batman has Batman’s soul, THIS had Batman’s heart.
