Hey DwightFry78,'
The only issue I have with your review is with the interlacing. Yes the entire film is interlaced as were all the sources used (they were recorded this way for that reason). The fields are not reversed and it looks fine with no problems on an analog tv. However if you are using a newer set to view this, i cannot be held responsible for how your set deals (or in many cases) converts (or in addition up converts) this signal. I know interlacing in some newer sets is an issue that has been addressed before on videohelp.com. So again playing on an analog set you get no blurring or combing. The effects you are seeing are usually from the newer HD sets conversion of an interlaced signal and another reason why I am sticking with my older analog set for as long as possible

Hate to be so harsh, but I found this unwatchable. I liked the idea, but the execution looked exactly like what it is: most of Red Dawn with some unrelated clips tacked on to the ending. I expected the "new" footage to be at least a bit integrated into the basis movie, either by having the kids confront zombies or by using extra clip of the actors (for example, City of Joy might have usable footage of Swayze attending the wounded, and the likes). The use of Windows Movie Maker style transitions didn't help, nor did that in some cases the aspect ratio is totally different and hasn't been cropped/zoomed. And, is it just me, or does America have two different Presidents at the same time?

On top of that, the DVD is interlaced, maybe even with the fields reversed as there's some blurring present in addition to the combing.

I know Tranzor is a respected faneditor, and I know this was his firstling, but in no way would this get approved today. Sorry again. :(

Thank you! This was my first edit ever on this site and it was a learning experience. YOU HAVE NO IDEA how happy I am that you understood the story. The story was more important to me than anything else. Quite a long time ago I had a friendly argument with some members and it mainly boiled down to that they just did not get it, despite my lengthy narration cards helping and telling you everything in detail as the story changed wheels during the second half (though I found out later on they enjoyed the edit overall, but for different reasons).

red dawn is cut down to a minimum and then fade out into a TOTALLY different direction. a fun edit idea. most of the enjoyment from this comes from the fat from red dawn removed. the ending works and is pretty interesting, but it feels a bit tacked on and the various sources are too obviously different. the story, however, works and is a fun way to experience red dawn again.
