While a couple of them don't add anything and, yes, the Lepetomane visit IS jarring (albeit wonderfully funny), I've always felt the defeat of Mongo with the Candygram and Looney Tunes music made LESS sense without showing Sheriff Bart attempting to defeat him several times. It's really out of place without the build up. So thank you for this! I have to say, I’ve always wanted a cut of Blazing Saddles with these scenes in it. The Mungo scenes sit uncomfortably in the sequence, Lilly Von Schtupp's intro adds nothing, the baptism scene an unnecessary detour and Le Petomane visiting Rock Ridge disrupts the pacing of the sequence. As col.hutty says some extended editions just add useless scenes and sadly I think that this is one such example. That said, my thanks go to the editor for going to the effort to compile this version and put it out there. I love the film and feel like I've not suffered from watching this version. If anything my appetite for more of the same is quelled knowing that it wouldn't necessarily be a good idea.
