Terminator 3: The Coming Storm
by Uncanny AntmanThis is a serious take on TERMINATOR 3 to be more in the tradition of its prequels. Lots of cheesy and unnecessary elements were removed as well as all the references to dates and ages that contradict the previous two films.
member ratings:
Original film name: Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
New film name: Terminator 3: The Coming Storm
Film studio name: Warner Brothers
Original running time: 1h49m
New running time: 1h28m
Edit crew name: Uncanny Antman
Cuts removed/added/extended :
- New opening titles.
- Removed opening nuke and John’s first V.O. Film proper starts during John’s nightmare.
- Joined both parts of John on motorbike together and reworked V.O. to eliminate age reference and to simplify his narration.
- Removed the TX’s, “I like this car.”
- Added “Uploading Virus” readout to TX’s HUD. The so-called supervirus that pops up out of nowhere does not exist in this version. The only virus is the one she delivers. My line of reasoning is that future-Skynet sends her back with a virus that cannot be stopped by conventional means, thus instigating the Military’s activation of Skynet in the here and now.
- Removed TX’s Inflate-O-Boobs(TM).
- Removed Kate and Scott shopping scene. The latter half of this sequence (after General Brewster gets off the phone with Kate) is moved way back in the film. It would make little sense for General Brewster to be concerned about a supervirus that was only uploaded a moment earlier.
- Removed T-850’s encounter with the bouncer outside the Desert Star.
- Removed zoom into ‘Ladies Night’ sign and sped-up shot of T-850 reacting to new song starting.
- Altered so that T-850 doesn’t blink when hit in the face with a glove. (Yes, I realise that Terminators blink, but it makes him seem scarier that he doesn’t need to when hit. Mostly I just didn’t like Arnie’s ’startled old man’ expression.)
- Removed T-850 talking into stripper’s hand, and the rest of the scene with the star-glasses. He just breaks the stripper’s hand and we go straight to the TX at Jim’s Burgers. Replaced song during entire Desert Star sequence.
- Removed the TX scanning Jose Barrera’s iris. As Reese said, “Most of the records were lost during the war.” I’m not a fan of Skynet’s files being this detailed. It’s bad enough she has John’s DNA records on file.
- Fixed the incorrect spelling of “BARRERA” on the TX’s heads-up-display. Now her readout matches his name-tag.
- After the TX kills Jose, we cut back to the T-850 stealing a truck. Removed watch on top of visor, synchronizing time, and T-850 contemplating the sunglasses. He just picks them up and puts them straight on without looking at them for ages.
- Removed newscast about supervirus seen during Bill Anderon’s party. Bill and his girlfriend are now watching a movie instead. For one, I needed the virus mentions all moved towards the end of the film, and two…who watches the news at a party?
- Fixed TX blinking when she shoots Bill.
- Removed all references Kate makes to Mike Kripke’s basement. Also removed Kate mentioning them being in the 8th grade when John disappeared. As with the John’s age, this is incorrect. We don’t need to know how John knows Kate, it’s enough that he just does. In my mind, Nikki Cox was Kate Brewster in T2. She had red hair and certainly knew John back then.
- Removed TX scanning Betsy’s blood and speaking to herself about it.
- Removed some of Kate’s whimpering when hiding from the TX. The TX is so close, she should really hear it.
- Removed TX’s visible reaction to John’s blood ID. I don’t have a problem with Terminators showing reactions to things, but this one is a little over the top. Even if she were human, I’d have probably cut it.
- Removed Kate dropping her keys.
- Removed T-850’s line to Kate, “I lied.”
- Removed all the talking between John and the T-850 when first meeting in the hallway. John comes across like an idiot. “Are you here to kill me?” No, son…if he were you’d be dead before you got the question out. Now, the Terminator strides up and just grabs John right away.
- Removed T-850’s line, “Keep moving!” I’ve tried to make the Terminator as taciturn as possible, removing any lines that really aren’t needed.
- Removed T-850’s, “Get out of here! Now!”
- Moved the paramedics finding the T-850 to a little later. Helps minimise the fact that they just stand next to him for a long time doing nothing. Also removed them trying to move him. It’s a stupid moment, and since when are paramedics in the habit of just dragging accident victims around without knowing what has happened to them?
- Removed T-850’s line to the motorcycle cop, “Get off!” It’s obviously looped after the fact, and it’s not needed.
- Removed John hitting the inflatable toy in the front yard during the car chase. “Boing”?? I could have just taken the sound effect out, but taking the shots out altogether actually made the sequence flow better.
- Re-instated an unused piece of score during the crane chase.
- Removed reverse-motion shot of Fire Truck heading straight for the T-850. It’s too obviously in reverse due to the exhaust fumes.
- Removed TX smirking to herself after shaking the T-850.
- Removed T-850’s to the firemen, “I’ll drive” and “Get out.” The ‘Get out’ is another obvious loop job.
- Removed TX’s double-take when seeing the T-850 in the firetruck.
- Removed the Terminator’s, “Excuse me.” to the TX. Substituted a metallic clink, (the axe hitting the side of the crane) which is what gets the TX’s attention instead.
- Removed “Move over” when the Terminator climbs into the driver’s seat of Kate’s truck. Another looped line.
- Removed all of John’s idiotic, “Do you even remember me?” talk.
- Removed, “I am unable to comply” when Kate tells the Terminator to drop dead.
- Removed John’s question, “Where are you taking me?” and the T-850’s reply, “To a safe location.”
- Removed the T-850’s claim that, “Judgement Day is inevitable.”
- Removed, “I’m an obsolete design.”
- Removed all the talk about the TX being an anti-Terminator Terminator, and “I am not shitting you.”
- Removed T-850’s second, “Relax!”
- Replaced the song playing in the ampm store. I cannot stand “Dat Funky Man” or whatever it’s called.
- Fixed jump-cut when TV is shown switching channels.
- Removed T-850 leaving the store. No ‘Talk to the hand’ at all. We can just assume he paid for the items. A few moments later, we will see the clerk calling the police due to Kate’s screaming. Wouldn’t he have been a bit more shaken, and already calling the cops if a huge dude in leather had just robbed him moments earlier?
- Removed all the revisited talk of Mike Kripke’s basement, and John’s idea that he and Kate were destined to meet.
- Erased the tire-iron from the back of the vet truck as it speeds down the road. The T-850 already removed it and threw it away.
- Removed the TX killing Scott, and the cops coming to the door. The scene sucks, and this way it’s a mild surprise when the TX kills the cops a few minutes later.
- Removed the dates on Sarah’s plaque. Both dates are completely wrong.
- Removed John saying that Sarah “…fought for three years” against leukaemia. Now he just says the more ambiguous, “She fought…long enough to make sure the world didn’t end.”
- Removed John telling the T-850 that it was the closest thing he ever had to a father. John just comes across as stupid, as he knows full well that this is not the Terminator that protected him in 1995.
- Removed the T-850’s, “My mission is to protect you” to Kate.
- Removed T-850 spitting out the bullet. Gee, sure is a lucky shot that Kate managed to shoot a bullet into his mouth while it was closed.
- Removed all of John’s, “Why me?” stuff, and the T-850 ‘convincing’ him to fight.
- Moved driving scene with Scott and the cops to after Kate meets Silberman. Reframed one shot to cover the fact that the TX’s arm isn’t behind the seat where it should be. Trimmed out one shot of the driver’s terrible ‘pain’ acting, and removed shot of TX’s hand slowly taking the steering wheel.
- Trimmed out the last few moments of Silberman’s ramblings. Way to run the joke into the ground, folks.
- Removed T-850’s casualty readout after shooting at the SWAT team.
- Removed the T-850 telling John that Kate will be his wife in the future.
- In the graveyard, the TX stupidly reverts back to its default form for no reason before trying to kill Kate. To try to help justify this, I’ve moved up the shot of John and the Terminator approaching in the hearse. It’s not much of an excuse, but at least it’s something. Sort of like the TX knows it’s busted, so there’s no need to keep up the ruse.
- Removed shot of the hearse turning and losing a hubcap. It loses the same hubcap again a moment later.
- Removed the last few frames of the TX jumping onto the hearse. There was a moment of ‘float’ to the cable work there.
- Removed Kate screaming, “Do something!” at the Terminator.
- Erased visible safety cables and effects markers from two shots of the TX on top of the hearse.
- Removed the T-850’s deadpan line, “We need a new vehicle.” And John and Kate’s dumbfounded stares. A very sitcom-esque moment.
- Removed the hearse’s door falling off the hinges when the Terminator opens it. More sitcom “hilarity”.
- After Kate has her little cry, we cut to General Brewster talking about the super-virus. Then we come back to John and the T-850 discussing the TX’s hit-list. Removed John asking about his future marriage to Kate.
- Removed John theorising about fate and he and Kate getting together back before T2.
- Removed all the business about, “You cannot self-terminate.”
- Removed line about Skynet assuming control over global communications. How can it when it hasn’t been brought on-line yet? The virus is the one affecting out communications.
- Removed Kate finding out about her marriage to John.
- Removed small-scale flying H/K and endoskeleton at CRS.
- Removed final mention of Mike Kripke’s basement, and T-850’s line about levity.
- Removed line about Skynet operating at 60 teraflops per second. The ‘PS’ in teraflops already stands for ‘per second’ so it’d be an awfully stupid thing for a technician to say.
- Removed “She’ll be back.”
- Removed John’s line, “Skynet is the virus!”
- Removed General Brewster’s line about Pandora’s box. It’s very trite, and I prefer that the shot focuses on Kate’s reaction instead of his rambling.
- Removed the Terminator telling John and Kate to run when the TX shows up. They should know to run just fine without being told to all the damn time.
- Removed the TX’s head spinning all the way around.
- Removed a few frames from when the T-850 steps on the TX’s head. The original shot had a little reverse motion in it, and looked silly.
- Removed the TX turning her upper body all the way around.
- Removed the TX stomping the T-850’s head off. It’s stupid that it would go back on fine with no effort, and some of the CG looks really crummy. She injects her nanobots while he is still reeling from the electrical shock.
- Removed John and Kate versus the small flying H/K.
- Removed Kate’s, “Just die, you bitch!” and a few frames at the end of the scene when you can see someone else at the end of the tunnel.
- Removed the T-850 putting his head back on.
- Removed, “You can’t kill a human, you said so yourself!” The T-850 never said this.
- When the Terminator is smashing the truck, removed a few shots that ruin the continuity.
- Removed both shots of the plane with the wrong call letters on the side.
- Removed, “I’m back.”
- Removed a bunch of the TX’s roaring and screaming. I couldn’t get all of it out without it being ridiculously choppy, but I snipped as much as I felt I could.
- Removed Kate’s suggestion to just let the bomb go off. She’s awfully quick to embrace suicide.
- Slightly different ending, features no V.O. from John about the virus/Skynet, alternate musical cue, and a different final shot of the film.
- Shortened end credits and replaced music. Score only, no songs.

TERMINATOR 3 - THE COMING STORM by Uncanny AntmanThe edit:
Great. I did not spot any hard cuts or audio issues. The execution was masterfully crafted and shows quite a lot of experience in fanediting. The flow of this fanedit is so much better than the original movie, I was entertained all the time. The way John and Kate interact now is way more believable and makes a lot more sense. I discovered a snippet from DARK ANGEL on a monitor and this is one more proof for the playful way, in which UA likes to edit his movies. Really great and makes me look VERY forward to anything else that will come from him.
editing: 5 of 5,
entertainment: 5 of 5
Image quality:
I only watched the 700mb avi version of it and of course the image quality is not the best, but it is still good.
video quality: 4 of 5
Audio quality:
The audio for the avi version is mp-3 107kb/s, which for sure is not the best quality. It sounds alright though. There are no audio flaws which I spotted.
audio: 3 of 5
resulting in a 4 of 5 overall rating from me, which can change into a 5 of 5, once the DVD is released. This is a huge improvement over the original and shows a lot of talent and expertise from the faneditor Uncanny Antman. This is Terminator 3 like I always wanted to see it and I definitely recommend it for viewing.

As a massive Terminator fan, it saddens me, that the official canonical version of the film was so cheesy and faulted.
This version, in my eyes…is now canon. I’m not even kidding. The more i think about it….this version feels right where the official did not…everything you got rid of, totally works! John was supposed to have accepted his fate, yet throughout most of this film he’s whining, almost like he’s seen a way out of becoming a hero and loses his nerve…i’d never thought of that before i saw this cut. Kate being his wife…yeah whatever! unnecessary plot point.
This edit is absolutely flawless…i was desperate to pick at it, mostly due to the disappointment i had of this film originally. I enjoyed it, but the ages and dates provided caused me a major headache! This version i watched without scratching my head once thinking…WHY???
I’ve seen the other edits of T3 and this is seriously the best. I mean this edit is shorter, at 83 minutes this movie breezes by…but it’s great this way…Everything you changed i commend. I loved the removal of Macho man, very cleverly done as was the Funky Man…i mean what the fuck where those songs doing…? Arnie is also much more efficient in this version, hearing less of his one liners and goofiness felt right for some reason…T3 didn’t have the heart of the second movie, so why try to emulate T2 in the same ways because it wasn’t even the same Terminator model! aargh stupid writers.
I personally had no problem with the Rise of the Machines title, but nevermind!
Job well done sir,
AnEyeOut
P.S. Put up a DVD quality version, cos this is my Terminator 3 canon now!!!

Superb! Tight action, good character re-development, and a nice re-sequencing of events to keep the story moving. This fan-edit will replace the original in my collection. Excellent work Antman. I look forward to viewing your other and future edits. Can’t wait for the DVD edition…

This is a brilliant and crafted edit. now everything seems in the right place at the right time. Faster and darker with the Terminators now back to their original silent and deadly role, humour and one liners only where its needed and not in every scene. Re-edited scenes that now make sense. I enjoyed the original but this edit shows how it should have been. As others have said, this is the one to watch replacing the original T3.
Can only be bettered with a DVD version complete with extras explaining the changes.
5 Stars

First off, glad you liked my review of NOES 7. Now for this edit. Having been a terminator fan since birth I can say without a doubt that I throw up everytime I watch terminator 3. Not just in how it was made but also the simple fact that I was watching a 60 yr old terminator. If they were gonna do Terminator 3 they shoulda done it back in Arnies Eraser days sirca 1996 when he still looked half decent in an action role. So that alone turned me off of Terminator 3 but then came the rediculous story, acting, directing that turned The Terminator into the same one note gag reel that new line cinema turned Freddy Krueger into. When watching T2 I feel a sense of worry about the situation, it leaves you feeling involved in a serious story presented with so much danger both action wise & emotionally, yet I failed to give a shit with T3, it wasn’t executed the same & frankly I never thought I would see the day someone could actually redeem this movie. But low & behold your edit is magnificent. I went from watching T3 once since I bought it to watching it atleast 3 times a day now. It’s so much fun to watch & I never have to prepare myself for a cringe moment. I won’t go into specific detail about the edit itself co’s 1. I’ve written to much already & 2. co’s it leaves an air of mystery to your edit for those who may not have sen it yet & want to read a review first. Keep up the good work & I’ll get back to you when I have finished watching another edit of yours of a movie I’m fond of ( The Island ).
Peace AA,
Steve

Very gratifying to hear such glowing feedback, guys. Thank you all. I really do appeciate it. And I promise there will be a DVD version at some point. (Hopefully not too far away.)
AnEyeOut, I never minded the original title either, but renaming it was one more way I could refer back to the first film, which I tried to do as much as possible.
Steve…see you on The Island.
Review by Uncanny Antman — April 4, 2008 @ 6:44 pm
Great job, man.
You did wonderful work cleaning up some of the awful rubbish this film brought into the canon – the implausibilities, continuity errors and the writers’ gross misunderstanding of its prequels.
Also the cringeworthy gags and one-liners, probably brainstormed by about a dozen idiots sitting in the writers-room.
Pity that when you look at whats left all there is a series of booms and crashes, and not much else. The talk of the teenage make-out sessions and the marriage probably would’ve worked in there to fill out the spaces in between, but I won’t lose any sleep over their absence.
Only thing I found that didn’t work was your genesis of the virus – that the TX uploaded it into the internet on arrival. That wouldn’t have been clear to me, from her HUD graphic. Not that the original cut did a better job, just that I think maybe by enlisting some help to create a fresh graphic for her you could’ve hammered the point home.
The workmanship was exquisite, judging by the 700mb version. Not many cuts felt out of place and the sound mix was nice.

I’ve been watching different fan-edits for probably a year now, and as great as some of them are none of them had ever made me want to become a member simply to leave a comment (as much as I’d like to make fan edits I simply don’t have the patience). However, after seeing this one I simply HAD to leave my thoughts, I finished watching this not even ten minutes ago. First, let me just say THANK YOU for making this. I’ve been a Terminator fan since as far back as I can remember (I was born in May 84′) and to me the 3rd movie was a HUGE letdown. Especially since we had to wait, not 7 years like the first sequel, but 12 years for the next one. I remember seeing it a second time in theaters with a cousin and before hand I told him everything I thought was wrong with the movie. As soon as the credits rolled and the lights went back up he said “Everything you said about this movie, you were right.” Watching this means I can finally watch the series as a trilogy now. I can’t wait to show this to my dad because I’m sure he’s gonna love it just as much as I did. Once again, THANK YOU!!
Review by TylerDurden389 — April 8, 2008 @ 8:07 pm
That’s a really nice edit. Thx for your work. I have to watch the original T3 movie again to see which one I like more, but I doubt that it will be the original one.
Review by Lolgards — April 14, 2008 @ 11:52 pm
The original Terminator 3 is unwatcable, plain and simple. From cruddy CGI helicopters, a blond bombshell killing machine, the constant crash-bang-whollop and Arnie having an eppy with a car, all add to make this film a certifiable turd.
So now we have another Terminator 3 Fan-Edit and I did not expect much as the raw material is so faulted.
Firstly, this cut is the best of the T3 Fan-Edits. Technically the edit is perfect. The sound design and visual transitions are clean and professional but it is the original material that lets the whole down. This is a grand effort at polishing of a turd.
I would liked to have seen the narration at the beginning of the film erased as we discover who this boy is when he is in the Vet’s cage, also the narration at the end is taken out so it makes sense to lose it at the beginning as well. How does the blond bombshell machine find Conner at the Vets?
I would love to have seen Arnie carrying the weightless and wired coffin removed but I suppose that would have been impossible.
All in all this is a superb job and if you are a real Terminator Fan then this is the best version of them all. It is a shame that such a poor sequel could have been produced and no amount of re-editing is going to improve the overall shallowness and stupidity of the original.
Review by Rock Savage — April 23, 2008 @ 10:46 am
This is a class act. Well done.
Technically slick – I saw or heard nothing jarring – and the narrative flow shows that obviously a lot of thought went into the film’s re-construction.
Thanks.

I’m new to fan edits, and this is the 3rd fan edit I’ve seen. I really liked it. From the scene where the dancer says ‘talk to the hand’ and the terminator didn’t speak into the hand, I knew this was going to be a great film. And it was!

AMAZING !
i liked T3, but I loved your edit…
everything seemed flawless, and i have to admit i’m impressed by your audio skills… It seems really “professional”, congrats.
The pace of the movie is much more similar to the first one now.
I will now look at every single of your future edits (I would love to see a T2 shorter edit of yours)
Cheers !

Top-notch. A great fan-edit. I noticed no hard cuts, and it really felt like a professionally produced film. Great video, good audio, and a cool menu. Between this edit and T-HOPE’s I am really loving this movie now. I give this a 5 out of 5. great on everything. I will be watching for your edits in the future Antman

Review by darkhelmet — June 1, 2008 @ 8:01 am
In a word: amazing. As many commenters have pointed out already, it is a huge surprise to me that you were able to make T3 watchable. I remember watching the original version, and the feeling it gave me. It wasn’t just disappointment, or disgust. It was like the feeling of watching Alien Resurrection for the first time: I felt personally abused. “Why would they DO this?!” Thus, I only watched it once and wasn’t able to intuitively tell what all you had removed. That, however, doesn’t matter. What matters is that I could _watch_ this film. On top of that, there was virtually no indication this wasn’t the original edit (since I forgot so much from the one time I saw T3). That is to say, I’d nominate you for a technical awardf as well as a “most polished turd” award (to borrow phrasing from ROCK SAVAGE).
Looking over the edit list now, I remember so much more about the original that I hated. You got it all. Perhaps the most important change is that this movie, which is basically about the end of human civilization in a nuclear holocaust, no longer scans as trite garbage, and instead scans as a tense snapshot in an ongoing time travel/apocalypse scenario surrounding the leader of the human resistence. Thank you for that.

Before I see this I just want to know if the music has been changed? Because if there was one thing more grating to me above all the grating things in T3 it was the lack of the series theme.
Review by MonkeyandApple — June 4, 2008 @ 10:42 am
Sorry Monkey, no. There are some minor musical changes here and there, but the Terminator theme is not contained within the film itself. Just as with T1 and T2, it is only in the credits.
A continuing thanks to all who have left feedback. It’s so appreciated. I’m over the moon to see this being so well regarded.
Review by Uncanny Antman — June 5, 2008 @ 12:58 pm
First off, I have been downloading fan edits for quite some time now. Some have been good, some bad and others interesting. All the while, I’ve never felt the need to take the trouble to comment on them… until now.
This edit of T3 absolutely blew me away. To say that I HATED the theatrical version would be an understatement. So many awful moments, so much wasted potential… it pains me to think that James Cameron had to actually watch his series go into the toilet with this film.
But this editor has made the impossible come true. Terminator 3 is actually part of the official series now. I don’t know what else to say, or how to say it… all of the other comments are on the money. This is probably the best fan edit ever. Period. I would go so far as to say that it should be re-released theatrically. It’s that good. I hope the filmmakers behind the original version see this fan edit and learn a thing or two about pacing and letting go of ultra-lame bits.
Just so you know, I’ve thrown out the actual T3 DVD and replaced it with this edition. I’m not kidding… the store-bought disc is gone. Bye bye. I don’t know if any other fan edit will ever top this one, but I’ll keep downloading and hoping. Uncanny Antman has raised the fan edit bar so high that I fear it may never be topped. Congratulations!

Brilliant edit. Turned a steaming pile of yak shit into an excellent film. This actually felt like a Terminator movie. Great job.
Review by stplayahtn — June 13, 2008 @ 10:34 pm
This is far and away my favorite fan edit. It’s the one that I compare all others to and show as an example to people of what fan edits can do. I HATED this movie when I saw it in theatres. The unfunny, unnecessary humor … the overall silliness … the stupidness of the future leader of mankind. The action was kind of cool but it was over computerized. Thankfully, UA has stepped in and erased 99% of everything I hated about this movie. It’ll never be on par with Terminator or Terminator 2 but now it’s at least fun and entertaining, about on par with the TV series (which I dig). The editing is aces throughout, with nary a single hard or noticeable cut. Maybe if fan editors like UA were editing Hollywood’s movies they wouldn’t suck so bad. The only other thing I would’ve cut out is the scene where the T-850 tells John and Kate about John’s death. Like the cut scene of John whining about the T-850 not remembering him, this scene only serves to make John look like a moron. He’s the last hope for humanity, yet he makes a dumb mistake like trusting a terminator? Oh well, I’ll take what I can get. I also loved the Bits & Bytes part. I almost died laughing during the laugh trach moment. Great stuff.

Just finished watching it. Great job. Flawless editing, nice additions for the muscial score. Two gripes:
1. The TX uploading the virus: If I hadn’t known from you telling us about this, I would not have noticed it in her HUD display. At that point, her HUD is so busy with showing a readout of her targets, you don’t know to look at the bottom for “uploading virus.”
2. Is there any way that you could’ve left out the TX killing Scott, but still shown the cops coming to the apartment and picking him up? The cops with TX in the back seat seems to come out of no where when you are watching it. It was the only time I felt like something was missing.
Other than that. PERFECT.

I’m aching to watch this having downloaded every part of the smaller .avi version, except for part 4. Rapidshare (ahem) is refusing to let me download it from a number of different connections I have access to. It’s almost like.. no, Rapidshare wouldn’t be sabotaging it deliberately so that I’d pay for the Premium User service, would it?
Does anyone have an alternate source for this file? Please? My email’s schnide -at- btinternet -dot- com. I know I could download the 4gig version but I’d rather not have to – even if just to thumb my nose at Rapidshare.

nah, RS does not do such a thing and the file is just fine.
Download to a different folder, download without a download manager (if you have used one before), clear your temp files.

Rapidshare is tempremental to say the least! I’m going to look into hosting a torrent of the completed file, because RS sucks.
Hopefully, when I get the file, I’ll be able to enjoy your edit as everyone says it’s excellent (and the original is well below par).
Review by schnide — August 5, 2008 @ 3:48 pm
Okay, please ignore my comments about Rapidshare for two reasons. Firstly, I finally managed to get it downloaded, even though I’m still convinced that Rapidshare sucks. But more importantly, don’t download the .avi, just go straight for the full DVD.
This edit, as others have already said better than I will, is incredible. But I have to say it anyway. This edit makes me like Terminator 3. Virtually all the moments I hated are gone – inflating breasts, the star glasses, Mike Kripke’s basement.. as far as I am concerned now, they never existed. Glitches in the Matrix which have now been corrected forever. This Terminator 3 is dark and as has been said before, now canon for me. I will tell my friends to download this, or just give them copies myself if they don’t.
The only thing I would’ve changed is the music at the very end. It’s a nice piece of music and almost makes the very end shots look uplifting, when of course the scenes themselves really aren’t. Nevertheless, this is an awesome piece of work by one person and endlessly more professional where an entire Hollywood team failed. THANK YOU!

Hello U. Antman!
I really enjoyed your edit, man. Very proffesional job. Everything looked right for me, thumbs up. My mother watched it (she loves T2) and didn’t noticed it wasnt the “official” edition.
The new intro/credit titles are way better than the original. Cool ‘Aliens’ easter egg!
You know what could have even improved the experience? I was specting the Terminator theme when the movie ends, after the nuclear attack, just when screen turns black and ending titles appear. I think this little detail can even provide a pleasant mood after watching the film. It is an amazing soundtrack and gives back the classic Terminator taste/memory/feeling.
Thank you, and thanks a lot for the AVI release!

PS: have you seen this alternate title sequence? http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=8i6psM9MAME maybe you could recreate it for the T3:CS v1.1

Technically awesome edit UA. I am a big fan of your edits, having also watched Echo, Predator Chronicles, and Jericho Cane, and currently have Die Hard 4 and Marvel 24 Ep 2 queued for download!! I have also watched the T-Hope edit of T3 and have to say that there are a lot of similarities, and while your edit is technically superior (a couple of minor jumps in T-Hopes editing) I did enjoy T-Hopes editing choices and narrative flow a little better. Just my personal opinion, but I think you were a little harsh on the cutting of the one liners!! Anyway, I am also stoked that such a great Faneditor hails from the land downunder, showing the world what us Aussies can do!… Keep up the great work, and looking forward to your Superman Returns edit that was previewed on Echo!

Never saw the original T3 and having watched this I think that I am very glad. Just not a very good film but the editing is simply fantastic. I avoided reading what you had changed in order not to spoil the film and I can’t believe some of the stuff that you managed to achieve with your edit. I can’t even begin to imagine how the original must have looked with even a cursory glance at what you have taken out. So thanks for the tons of work that no doubt went into this and even if the film is just ok, the edit is brilliantly done.
Cheers mate : )

Totally awesome edit UA, this made a pretty weak movie highly watchable.
With the removal of so much slack, this movie flows fast, Has plenty of womph and is now quite emotional at the end.
Excellent work my man, looking forward to watching all your edits. 5/5 Visually flawless.

Ok, here is my review of this fanedit.
Now as a way of setting this up I must mention that i do know Uncanny Antman, we got to know each other while he worked on MARVEL 24.
Also I don’t hold any hatred or animosity towards him.
Sometimes I have been accused of being unduly harsh and insensitive.
But that is not my intention, I just call it like I see it.
And in this medium, its pretty hard to hide, a bad edit is a bad edit and a good edit is a good edit.
it’s there, you can see it.
So Uncanny if you are ready for this read on…
Terminator 3 – The Coming Storm.
Just finished watching it.
Boon once told me that Uncanny Antman is the oldest active member of this forum.
I was trying to find out about UA since he wanted to pick up were I left off with MARVEL 24.
At the time I had been out of the community for about a year.
But i did visit now and then and his name kept popping up, mostly with good buzz.
But I had never seen an Uncanny fanedit.
That’s all changed with Terminator 3 – The Coming Storm.
First the Good; Edits are clean and smooth. Unnoticeable. Pristine image quality. Same with the Audio.
Story/Entertainment. There are still several groaners left (Arnold’s reaction to the T-X grabbing his crotch) but the movie really moves along. My only quibble would be the scene with the T-X and Cate’s boyfriend. But thats is all.
Ultimately the film itself is not very good but this edit really cleans up a lot of it’s shortcomings.
On a technical level the video and audio are immaculate.
On the editing level it is faultless.
On a story/entertainment level this fanedit improves on the original.
On my street-wise rating system I give this film a
GREEN LIGHT: Go watch it!

Having been a fan for years, I was horrified (yes, horrified) by the theater release of T3. I promised myself that I would never watch this sad travesty again.
And then I discovered “The Coming Storm”.
All I can add to the justified praise that has already been given to this superb fan edit are my sincere thanks for breathing new life into one of my favorite series!
If you haven’t seen this version, get it. Now.

This edit fixes the problems I had with Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines and turns an unwatchable film into a film I heartily recommend. I have burnt DVD copies of this film for several friends (who, just like me, all owned the original on DVD already, though I bought mine 2nd hand for $5).
Uncanny Antman’s fanedit of T3 now sits on my shelf alongside the two Cameron originals, and as a direct result of this film I am EAGERLY anticipating T4 where once I had dreaded it.
Thanks Antman!

A must see, especially if you hated the original. Way better than the theatrical cut. Thank you so much!
Review by cafevincent — January 11, 2009 @ 4:03 am
I’m a big Terminator fan, and when I saw Terminator 3 in theatres via an exclusive press premiere, I was actually a bit disappointed. I was really hyped with all the Terminator 3 trailers, and I had expected that T3 would become the best movie out of the Terminator saga. Boy, was I wrong…
I left the theatre with a weird feeling. Was this the movie I had been waiting for? And what was with all the lame and ridiculous stuff… Terminator with Elton John glasses, T-X with inflatable breast, some things just didn’t make any sense. The action was big, but the story suffered.
Seemingly I was not the only one with this problem. A lot of Terminator fans complained. And few, including myself, hve tried to create their own version. Uncanny Antman thought the same and followed.
The first things I noticed that we both had similar cuts. A similar basis of stuff that had to be removed.
One of the things I love about this edit is that Uncanny managed to do some of his own special effects. No blinking Terminator, Sarah Connor’s tombstone. This was really nicely done and I wish I had that know-how knowledge so I could have done it for my own fanedit. Uncanny Antman manages to do it and it’s great!!
Terminator 3 is a somewhat difficult movie to cut. There’s not much of deleted footage that has been released, so much stuff has to be taken from the movie itself. T3 is a flawed movie, and I believe fanedits can improve the viewing experience while watching the movie, but can never fix this movie into a masterpiece or to something close that is a good follow-up to T1 and T2. This goes for my own edit, but also for Uncanny Antman’s and ADM’s.
I have heard a lot of people compare Uncanny’s fanedit and my fanedit, and ask which one is better. I cannot give the answer to that one. I enjoy both fanedits, but think they are different. I enjoy Uncanný Antman’s fanedit, but on some creative cutting decisions I differ, like the T-X being the one to upload the virus in Uncanny’s cut. However, Uncanny has also done some great editing, making the Terminator a much more silent type and even more focussed on the mission.
I think Uncanny did a great job on this one. I rate it 5 stars.
Uncanny Antman, thanks for creating a great Terminator fanedit.

It seems that I’m the only one who didn’t care much for this edit?
I didn’t like Terminator 3 much either when it came out, and remember when being asked weither I liked it or not, answered “Ehh, it was funny!”.
I haven’t seen it since, and I agree that it doesn’t feel like a proper Terminator movie.
My problem with the alternative cut is the same problem as if you wanted to pimp up my Toyota family car, wanting to make it into a proper sportscar, but you were only allowed to remove existing parts on it. You don’t have anything to work with.
Terminator 3 is not a masterpiece in disguise, and this cut doesn’t change that. There are a lot of unmemorable action scenes, a leading man who doesn’t look like Edward Furlong or even a future resistance leader. There’s no chemistry between him and Clare Danes, and the Terminatrix CGI seems out of this world angainst Arnolds mechanical Terminator.
But at least it was funny in some places! And you took those parts away! And then there was the allready mentioned problems with how the Teminatrix found John in the pet hospital, and the boyfriend who suddenly came driving with the police out of nowhere.
Btw. My cut of the movie would last 2 min., and would only concist of the future war scenes
Sorry about this, but I give you full points for the effort though!

I’m feel sorry for not expressing my praise any sooner as I’ve been a owner of this edit for quite some time.I saw the theatrical version when it was released, and I hated it.It was a unfunny kid movie. But this edit fixes many of my problems I had with the original movie, and for that I thank you Uncanny-Antman.I’ve thrown out the orginal T3 DVD from my collection(hid it) and exchanged it for this edit. Finally I can watch Terminator 3 and say:It’s a pretty good Arnold Schwarzenegger movie.

Review by Fluidic — March 10, 2009 @ 2:34 am
Awesome edit. This is far superior to the original.
One thing I would have left in would be a stronger connection between John and Kate in the past. Not that it was a strong connection but it was something of a connection.
I remember when I first watched T3, I wondered why the TX would be after Kate and it was explained. Probably a little too much.
So I would have left in a little more of the RV scene before the T-850’s removed line about levity.
This also strengthens the idea of inevitibility, makes for a compelling reason for the TX to be hunting Kate to begin with and just makes us care a little more about her.
Other than that quibble, this is a must have fan edit. I really enjoyed it.
Review by zeppelinrox — March 10, 2009 @ 5:46 pm
Very very good!
John is much more mature, the silly jokes gone…this is a Terminator movie that can stand next to the earlier ones.
It’s so much darker, really a great job.
Thanks a lot!

The best thing I can say is that I am totally astonished at how much better UA managed to make this movie. Like a lot of people, I only remember T3 for how crappy it was. With this edit, UA has managed to make it WAAAAYYY closer to the quality of the first two. Of course, those 2 movies set an impossible bar for most to reach. So that is a big compliment, especially considering the original cut.
Technically it is perfectly done, and I loved the little touches like inserting of Aliens on the TV (Seamless, BTW. I didn’t even realize for awhile it wasn’t originally there). My only misgiving is we never hear the Terminator theme proper in the opening or closing. And yes, the virus thing might have been a tad clearer. However, UA scores points for replacing the strip club music with “Intimacy”. Very clever.
This is about as good as a fan edit gets.

I just finished watching this edit and I’m here to pay my debt for such a great gift. I’m amazed at how much better that the original this version is. The production values are excellent. And I’m sure that if the editors of the theatrical version of this movie see this edit they will forever be ashamed of themselves. I hope Uncanny Antman is making millions as an editor somewhere, he is that talented.

Antman, you have some awesome skills man! Great work! You know what would be another tremendous project.
Seeing your love for the Termiantor franchise, your should do an edit fo THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, and make it into a feature length movie, maaan, it has some incredible themes, character development, and storyline that would fit perfectly. Just a suggestion. I think another fanedit award should be coming your way!

Very impressive. Far better than the original release, and replaces “canon” as far as I’m concerned. As good as advertised!
I’m just getting into the fanedit world, and you boyz need to pat yourselves on the back for the talent/skill you have to do this,
As a side note, I consider myself artistic and creative, and want to learn how to fanedit. Are there any written guides, and what programs are recommended?
There are some edits on here where the picture or things int he picture are edited/altered. How is that done (non-professionally)?
I always wanted to learn to do a fanedit of Manhunter, but Leonenut beat me to it (and he did a great job IMO).

Wow.
I came acros this site by chance, this is about the third fanedit I’ve watched. Amazing.
I bought this on dvd a couple of years ago and was unimpressed with the tone of the movie, the pacing, the overall feel. This edit improves the movie to the extent that it drags it up to the level of an enjoyable movie experience. I’m amazed at what antman could do with the material. The film becomes a darker, snappier, rollercoaster ride, with no more than two moments that maybe felt a little off.
Well done chap!
Anyone who enjoyed the first two movies must watch this edit. Thats all.
9/10 overall

I wanted to like T3, but it was hard – this makes it easy. Thanks, Uncanny Antman!
Review by benfrankenstein — May 14, 2009 @ 7:43 am
Excellent version of the film, definitive in my opinion. Nick Stahl acts much more like an older Ed Furlong with his quick mind, but shows some remnants of an obviously trouble life since his mother died (drugs, etc…who knows?) that can slow the mind down, so this is apparent in the early part of the film, and IMO is the whole point of those additions. He becomes much more like the John Connor we expect toward the end of the film (and even has some of Reese in him too, cleverly acted by NS). The removal of all the cheese and corniness is perfect, and the ending is very Jeff Waynes WOTW…
Having just watched the trailer for T4:SALVATION this is a must-see for anyone going to the movies this Summer/Winter (in our Southern Hemisphere!) and sets it up nicely.
The one thing I wish film-makers would stop doing is shooting “Day-for-night” or “mid-afternoon for early morning”! The colour “correction” is so obvious and the shadows are a dead giveaway, so, UA, if you ever do an AVCHD version of this, consider lengthening the shadows in the first chase scene after the Vets as the sun is coming up, or trying to remove them altogether and giving a “cold early morning” feel to it – which would make the half-empty roads much more believable, too. Pretty soon after that were in full-blown daylight (do producers have any idea about time??) so it would be a fair challenge.
This has restored my faith in the Series, am actually looking forward to Ranting Bale in the next one.
BTW, love the menu clip!
Now, if someone can do the same for Alien:Resurrection…
Review by Darth_Scourge — May 21, 2009 @ 2:00 pm
Great edit! However, there are some issues that I had with it:
1. Too much of the T-850 one-liners are missing. Duologue like “Get out of here! Now!” & “Keep moving!” & “Move over” & “We need a new vehicle” are all in line with the fact of Terminator personalities. It’s true that they shouldn’t have emotions, but they aren’t just mindless automatons. Those lines imply intelligence.
The line “I am unable to comply,” should also remain. It’s a throwback to T2, where the T-800 tells the Connors that he cannot self-terminate. It also serves as a hint that this T-850 is here to follow Kate’s orders.
2. The removed shot of TX’s hand slowly taking the steering wheel is a problem, as you still show the T-X getting out of the BACK of the police car in the graveyard. The dead cops are in clear view, so now you have to wonder who was driving?
3. (Removed Kate screaming, “Do something!” at the Terminator. ) This removal was unnecessary.
4. (Removed the Terminator telling John and Kate to run when the TX shows up.) This, too, is an unnecessary removal. It doesn’t matter that John and Kate don’t need to be told to run, it’s good that the T-850 tells them anyway. Stating the obvious is a trait of machines as well as humans.
5. (Removed the TX turning her upper body all the way around.) Unnecessary.
6. (…different final shot of the film.) I dislike this move. That future shot of the T-850 still trapped under that door was excellent.
But, like I said, this was a better job than what was created by the assembly-line produced crap from Hollywood.
Review by Luminus — May 28, 2009 @ 11:54 pm
Excellent job overall. Without the voiceover, rather than rolling my eyes at the ending I just went cold… you did the seemingly impossible and made this a powerful installment to the Terminator series.
Although it still won’t change the fact that I don’t consider T3 canon. Judgement Day happening despite all the efforts of the last trilogy was a horrible move along the lines of ending Return of the Jedi with the Empire revealing a third Death Star and crushing the Rebellion. Or Sauron screaming “NOOOOO! Lucky I keep a spare.” Terminator 3 is, and will always be, a “What-If” scenario.
Despite that, like I said, this makes me enjoy T3 and that’s quite an accomplishment.

1st fan edit I have watched….
Not knowing what to expect I have to say this was a great standard.. The only thing that bothered me was the sudden introduction of the skynet /military situation in the last 3rd of the film..To me that felt like a bit of an afterthought and I would liked to have seen that as a more integral part of the story far earlier…
That said the quality of the work done is the nuts ..Transitions were seamless and the editing of the action sequences were brilliant which realy brought justice to some of the awesome work put into the source material..Most notably for me the evil presence of the girl terminator and the crane chase sequence…The merits of that scene were more or less lost in the original film which I absolutly hated… Now it realy kicks ass and a crap movie is now very watchful…Well done man I’ll look at more of your stuff and cant wait to check out some more films..

Excellent job, man. Terminator 3 was such a disappointment. The writers must have thought T2 was an action comedy and set out to make T3 just that. The changes you made prove how lazy the writers and director are.
Video quality: Great 5 out of 5
Audio quality: Also great 5 out of 5
Editing 5 out of 5: Impressive. Good job with the spell correction, ha. Love all the little cuts you made. It helped keep the film from becoming ridiculous. And removal of some of the voice-over was good, too.
Original Cut: 3 out of 5
Your Cut: 4.5 out of 5
Overall score: 4.5 out of 5
You’ve definitely made T3 into a better film. Unfortunately, It’s still far from perfect. It’s not your fault, of course.
it’s just that…..you didn’t have much to work with. It would be like trying to save a burnt piece of toast. Won’t matter how much butter you put on it. It’s still burnt.
The story was weak. The new T-X is not as intimidating as the T-800 and the T-1000 even though it’s supposed to be more advanced. The film didn’t have the same
ominous end-of-the-world feel that the 1st two did. The idea of John Connor being killed in 2032 by the T-850 was silly to me. Seemed like an attempt to put the spotlight
on the female leads and making Connor seem so insignificant. The filmmakers were SO lazy.

i totally loved this cut and this is now (finally) my definitive T3 version. congrats for changing all of the insulting ‘’stupidness” included in the

but again, this is imo the best version around (no offense to the other fanedits) !!!
Review by santero — August 17, 2009 @ 10:41 am
Just got done watching this edit and I have to say, this movie was improved a hundred-fold. All of the cuts worked breilliantly, making the T-850 much more machine-like in its behavior and making the activation of Skynet much more plausible. It now holds true to what we’ve learned about Skynet’s activation previously and some continuity has been restored. If I hadn’t seen the film previously, the scene of Scott killing the police officer would have been a much greater surprise, and it’s certainly more appreciated than the original version. Scott’s talking to the cops when answering the door was horrible. Now know nothing about it and suddenly WHAM. Excellent.
However, my favorite part of this edit was the ending. By removing the V/O and using that music, you made it a much more powerful and emotional ending. The camera pulls back from John and Kate with the strains of the music playing, and we see Skynet launching its attack upon the world. We hear nothing but the music and the faint sounds of destruction. It builds until the final fade out. It’s always struck me as an emotional scene, and your edit has made it so. It’s sad. It’s gut-wrenching. It silences you. And it’s a perfect ending.
I applaud you for your work here. This film is now worthy of the TERMINATOR name, and I will watch it as part of the series with joy.
Review by ThunderVamp9 — September 17, 2009 @ 5:19 am
Without a doubt the best Fanedit I’ve seen. I can’t really say any more than the praise that’s already been heaped by everyone else. Don’t get me wrong, there were flaws aplenty, but every single one was attributable to Jonathan Mostow and the original editor. That the Faneditor has managed to take the mess that was Terminator 3 and turn it into this is nothing short of astounding, and having now read the list of edits I can see that he’s even tried his best to correct as many of the flaws that Mostow allowed where they couldn’t be completely cut out of necessity (notably the TX in the graveyard sequence).
Paring the dialogue down to the minimum for both the T850 and TX (who is almost silent throughout) is a vast improvement – subtle when watching this cut but incredibly jarring when they natter on and on in the official version. And removing the Terminator blinking and the human reactions was absolutely necessary to remind the audience that these are machines and are all the more menacing because they are. Arnie blinking in T1 when he kills Sarah Connor’s room mate jarrs when I watch that film so it’s no wonder I spent most of T3 feeling uncomfortable.
Still not a patch on T1 or T2 but, like all who’ve commented before me, this is the only version I’ll be watching from now on when I want my Terminator fix.
Had I seen this for the first time without having seen T3 I’d be giving a 7/10 for entertainment. But knowing this is a Fanedit 10/10 is the only score it deserves.

Regarding other edits, I would like to know more about what the differences are between this and T-Hopes edition, as i have not seen T-Hopes yet.
Specifically is this one better than the other? are they very different or only slightly different?
I really enjoyed this one so i dont feel the urge to check out other Terminator 3 versions at least not anytime soon.
