The theatrical version of this film was just totally meh… I watched this fan edit some time ago, and thought it was far superior to the original. Whoda thunk under the crust there was an actually decent action/horror film. There’s some noticeable choppiness to the edit that was probably unavoidable, but all in all it doesn’t detract from film watching experience. With this edit the film went from an unremarkable 4/10 (in my book) to a 6/10. Great job, and I’m sorry it’s taken me till now to give it a review.

Just finished watching this. I had been meaning to watch it for a long time, but, as much as I love bad/good action movies, there are some that are just plain bad. This movie was one of them. I saw it once when it came out, and realized how crappy it was. However, over the years, being involved in the fan edit community, I began to wonder if this could be saved. Personally, I’m not a religious person, so the entire plot is something i don’t care for regardless of how bad the film itself is. However, i knew I’d never know for sure until i gave this fan cut a watch, if this film could be salvagable, and I’m glad I did.

UA, you saved Terminator 3 for me, something I thought was never possible. Now you’ve saved End of Days, something i REALLY thought was impossible. Sure, like T3, the runtime cuts it so short that it’s barely a movie, but if there’s one thing fan edits have taught me, is that quality is better than quantity. It’s amazing how much better the film works by showing everything from Arnold’s perspective. There’s a ton of other little things you did that I should give praise for, but honestly, the little easter agg at the end where you point out the things wrong with the film originally says it all.

I still have to watch the True Lies Fan Edit, and I’m not sure if anyone has decided to tackle an Eraser fan edit, or the 6th Day (or even Collateral Damage for that matter), but if those films ever get fan edited, it sure will be nice to have every Arnold movie in my dvd collection. Arnold was the end-all be-all for me as a child. If I wasn’t watching him, I was watching Stallone. So it hurts me that the latter portion of Arnold’s career is completely full of duds. However, you UA, have restored my faith in Arnold as a star. Cheers!!!

I can’t say that I remember the original too much, but, after watching this I can tell that it’s an improvement because this was actually pretty decent. The movie no longer sucks, so that’s a plus. Good job. I can see how much drama there was for Arnold’s character. Not much I can say is bad about it. And I didn’t notice any bad cuts or anything.

It did not work too well for me. Especially towards the ending it became weaker and it seemed several times to me like parts were missing. I cannot understand the hype, yet I also cannot understand the Twilight hype, so it seems it’s in the end just a taste thing.

OK, so I still couldn’t really enjoy it, because I simply dislike the film too much for it to be saved. But you have made it watchable, which is an impressive feat. Great editing, and as always, a keen eye for what should stay and what should go.

Damn UA, could you at least do one edit that sucks! Nicely done again… I knight you Sir Turd Polisher. Your work holds everyone to a higher standard and will only make this sight that much greater. I gave it 9 of out 10. Only because I saw some a couple interlacing issues with the video that could have been just my dvd burn or that I watch on my 50in. Regardless, excellent job.

great editing ideas. this greatly improves on the story, pacing and revelation while also handling the supernatural elements MUCH better than the original. telling the film from jericho’s perspective makes each plot device more important to the story – and therefore the viewer.

UA is getting to be one of my favorite editors 5/5

As many have said before me,the original movie End of Day was such a lackluster experience that I tried my very best to forget it ever was made.After seeing your edit I was left with the feeling of actually not hating the movie at all.It might very well be that you are blessed by God himself with an extraordinary gift of editing bad movies into actually good movies.As this edit stands today I have no problem adding this movie to my yearly Arnold Schwarzenegger movies session.Thanks!

If you are truly willing to test your skills as editor Mr. Uncanny Antman,try making Arnold Schwarzenegger`s turd Collateral Damage into a watchable movie,better yet ,edit it so it becomes a great movie.Can it be done?

A very good fanedit. It is probably the very best thing that could be done to this disappointing movie. I was mildly entertained by the first half as there was still a lot of “cheese” to it, but the second half was really great for me. So in the end I really enjoyed the movie for the very first time. Thank you, Uncanny Antman for making this possible.

I can’t say that I remember too much of the original film, as one viewing was enough to leave on my shelf. Just having finished watching UA’s edit this was genuinely enjoyable and an extremely polished edit. Love the inclusion of the scenes you cut with comments why they were cut, and the tribute to the late great Stan Winston on the DVD extras is a nice touch!

I’ll second what stplayahtn said. 5 of 5 for the edit (I noticed nothing technically flawed that could be attributed to Uncanny Antman), but the movie itself is a (generous) 3 stars- it’s a very phoned-in supernatural thriller. So, overall I give it a 4. Definite improvement over ‘End of Days’, but still just a so-so movie.

Just finished watching this, and as usual this is technically perfect. I didn’t remember much about the original so I was pretty fresh going in. I have to say, I felt something was missing. It really seemed like the story never developed until the last act and then it developed, climaxed and resolved in a short time. I know you are limited by the available material, but cutting out the garbage made the story extremely week. You polished it very nicely, but it is still a turd.

Thank you once again. I didn’t remember the movie very well, so I watched your edit, and really enjoyed it. The movie seemed better than what I had seen a few years ago… Great pace, almost no cheesiness, and very few scenes with that annoying Prison Break girl.

The, I watched the unedited film, and I realized how great your fan edit was : the original cut was almost unwatchable. The intro was way too long, some scenes with Arnie were boring to death, and we were told way too much stuff about Gabriel Byrne’s character. Moreover, the coninuity of the movie was terrible (we often jumped from a scene to another). And damn, those scenes with the albino and the cat were absolutely terrible…

As a whole, I think it is now a good Arnie movie, whereas it used to be mediocre. I would just have removed 3 more things : the scene where Arnold cries, the ones with the pope, and the crowd shots in Times Square. Good job though, I can’t wait to watch your next fan edit !

Arnold Schwarzenegger was the king of action movies in the 80’s and, with a few exceptions like Kindergarten Cop and Junior, made movies I loved. All that ended after the release of True Lies (his last great movie, but flawed in its own right). After that, we got nothing but mediocre Arnie like Eraser, The 6th Day and this 1999 supernatural action outing. The less said about Collateral Damage, the better. This always seemed like a movie brimming with potential that was unfortunately let down by poor writing and lazy direction. And, at this point in Arnie’s career, he seemed more focused on getting into politics than making a decent film. Thankfully, as always, Uncanny Antman has come through for us and trimmed the fat. You don’t realize how much you hate something in a movie until it’s missing. Case in point, that annoying Albino. I didn’t even remember he was in the movie so his absence wasn’t even noticed. Then I watched the easter egg footage of the stuff that UA cut out and remembered how pointless he was. As is usually the case in UA’s edits, it’s the little details that matter. Stuff such as the devil pissing oil and healing his own wounds have been excised. These bits never really bothered me before because I never really took the time to think about them. Now that they’re gone though, the movie just seems to work better. The two biggest missteps in the film have also, thankfully, been axed. The ridiculous step mother vs. Arnie fight has been completely removed. This scene was awful beyond belief and, as UA pointed out, it didn’t make any sense. And, most importantly, Arnie’s sacrifice now means something. He no longer kills himself with mere seconds left to go. I mean, they both still had their clothes on. How could they possibly consumate the act in three seconds?! Despite UA’s modesty, he really has made this a much better film. It’s no classic by any means but it’s much, much more enjoyable now. This guy should be writing, directing and editing his own films, not fixing the mistakes of Hollywood hacks. But, then again, we need someone to make all these movies work.

I absolutely love this edit. I’ve watched the original flick, I can’t count the times. Arnold is a guilty pleasure of mine, much like Dolph Lungdren. I would have kept in the morning hangover cure drink scene, though I’m not sure where it would go seeing where you started the flick. And it wasn’t until I reread the edit notes that I noticed the albino character was missing, so much for watching this movie a lot, the character didn’t leave an impression on me. Moving the possession scene after the attempted assassination is brilliant, I always felt there was something wrong with the priest trying to kill Satan, as if a bullet could kill him indeed.
