Batman – Dluppers fan edit

by Dluppers
What is it about? Batman and Batman Returns combined to one film, as if they were happening at the same time. This is not just the standard cut the credits off and stick them together, it is one epic Batman adventure.

  1. Man, I like the idea you have,

but you have to check some details from the movie. For example the color of the image of Batman and Batman Returns are not the same, the suit of batman changes (check the ABS of the suit).

And the audio is not that good.
But like I said, I like the idea you have.

  2. have you watched my fan edit yet dherrera???
if the 2 films do have different colours then they aren’t noticeable at all ,
also the batsuit changes,i never even knew there was any differences in the 2 films, and i’ve put in many hours on this film, unless you are looking for small changes like that then maybe you will find them, but you obviously wont be enjoying the film,if there are differences they aren’t noticeable at all.
yeah i agree the audio isn’t the best but these films are old ,batman is nearly 20 years old,i have used the original 5.1 dolby digital audio from the disc so there is no loss in audio quality in this edit

  3. I think what dherrera was saying was since the films were made years apart there’s going to be a slight discernable difference in color since they weren’t processed at the same time but it’s so slight it’s hardly noticeable. The batsuit does go through changes but not so bad that one suit looks outdated compared to the other. The most noticeable difference is the bat symbol on his chest but Batman does have more than one suit.
I enjoyed the edit… it had a “professional” cut to it. The cuts between scenes were clean and well done. However it seems some of the cuts were a tad awkward, for instance in one scene we see Selina looking at the store window and then in a flash we cut to an immediate scene with Catwoman. For me at least it changed the tempo of the film too quickly causing the awkwardness. I figure if you had more material to work with, this couldv’e been dealt with better. As for the overall look of the film, the video encoding was spotless — high quality to say the least. And kudos to boon23 for the exceptional job on the DVD cover, I love it!
Keep up the good work and I look forward to more of your fanedits.

  4. This edit was pretty good it reminded me of the amazing spider-man edit. i would have to agree with Laserdisc comment some edits were kind of akward like one time its snowing and the other its not? but over all great job. On the bat suit they do change check the opening seen for batman with the 2 thugs in the alley and then the on batman begins the seen with clowns at the mayors speech 2 different suits. I converted the mkv file with convertXtodvd had no audio problems everything in sync but no custom menus. A custom dvd for this would be awesome.

  5. i am currently working on version 2, a few scenes will be cut, redo some iffy transitions and i am making custom intro and end credits, the intro credits i’m working on is the most ambitious video sequence i have ever worked on,a lot of work is going into it and i think people will really like them.
hopefully i will have a exported video by the weekend and i’ll work on a dvd version over the course of it.
the batsuit issue, i’ll just pretend he has multiple different suit, its not like it really obvious that it ruins the film.

  6. Downloaded the PAL DVD and it looks great! Awesome job on the intro Dluppers! You would have to be pretty picky to be worried about the suits, as the differences are hardly noticeable. Cuts on the DVD version were mostly fine, but I did notice there is no audio coming from the centre channel? Glad I downloaded this one! Plenty of Batman all round!

  7. @heavyg-thats the first i’ve heard of any sound problems , i have a surround sound set-up at home and sound definitely comes from the centre spearker
has anyone else had any problems ???

  8. Dluppers,

I love the idea and the execution is pretty good, as for the color, have you thought about doing a B&W Sin City style coloration, ala the one episode in the Batman Conseqution Edit? I think it would help define an orig look and solve the color/tone issue in one swoop.

  9. This was one of the first fanedits I watched and I really enjoyed it. Neither Batman or Returns need an edit themselves (in my opinion), but the idea of combining them so that both movies take place at the same time was inspired. For the most part the interweaving of the two stories was very well done, although there were a few minor inconsistencies here and there. Bonus points for the comic book opening – very well done. On a scale of 1 to 10 Frinks, this edit receives 8 Frinks.
