Information and intention:
This is a re-edit of Independence Day with War of the Worlds footage mixed into it (similar to my Armageddon/Deep Impact hybrid). Also used some footage from Contact and Cloverfield. The first cut of this edit was 3 hours long due to a lot of scenes from Cloverfield. Upon watching it, I realized that the Cloverfield characters weren’t that interesting and their scenes dragged the pacing down. So in order to make it more fun, action-oriented summer popcorn movie, I purposely cut it down to a more manageable 2 hours.

  5. I just saw this and, yeah, this wasn’t that great.I see what you were trying to do, but there were a few things that were holding you back that i wouldn’t blame you for. Since you combine 2 movies (War of the Worlds (2005) and Independence Day) with clips taken from other movies (Cloverfield and Contact) there is no room for character development. And considering the sources used little in the way of character development in the first place, there wasn’t a whole lot left to enjoy. Maybe a mini-series with a few episodes to elaborate on the situation instead of a movie that’s a little over 2-hours long? Plus there is a few tone changes between the movies that doesn’t sit well with me.

    Overall, this movie is inconsistent with it’s tone and has no character development. I decided to leave a little review here with constructive criticism instead of leaving a message just saying “this is a terrible edit” because constructive criticism is the least i could do.
