Intention for this fanedit: The romantic subplot of FLYBOYS is charming and well done but unnecessary. The romantic subplot of THE RED BARON is both unnecessary and poorly executed. The intent of this edit is to remove the unnecessary elements, including the romances, and focus the film on the aerial combat that should be the center of the story. Another purpose was to eliminate as many historical inaccuracies in each of the source films as possible.

How intention was achieved: Simply, a lot of material was removed from both films. The aerial combat, which is the best part of either movie, is retained along with enough ground-based story to flesh out the characters and environment without slowing down the story too much. One big problem to be tackled was the numerous historical inaccuracies present in both films. The most glaring example is the squadrons of red Fokker Tri-planes in FLYBOYS, but THE RED BARON has its problems, too. The solution, which will seem incongruous or too fanciful to some, was to place the story in a parallel universe with an alternate history (a solution also used by the new STAR TREK movie). This allowed the rationalization of apparent historical mistakes since history is different in the KNIGHTS world from ours.
