Conceptual improvements/advancements of edit over original:
The idea is to bring the best possible Superman 2 movie to the audience.
The deleted scenes I used have had as much dirt removed as possible and been
recoloured .
Although Lois still realizes Clark is SM very early on,through the editing I
have done she doesn’t give the game away too quick and it is SM arrival at
Niagra Falls that gives her the confidence to bet her life on her hunch. I
also think Lois nowing Supermans identity at the works very well.

Judging from the description, this is exactly the Superman II hybrid I have been looking for! It’s like you read my mind.
I especially love that you end it with Lois knowing Superman’s secret, I don’t know why the memory kiss or the turning back of time was ever needed, it never felt right that Superman would manipulate Lois that badly. And I always felt that Margot’s Lois was too strong of character for the audience to feel untrustworthy. My favorite part of Superman IV is the scene when Lois brings Clark the cape and pretends she doesn’t know he’s superman but really does. (“I remember EVETYTHING”)
Anyway, well done, Booshman. Thank you.

The most impressive FanEdit I’ve seen yet (although I’m admittedly new to this world).
Been terribly busy, so I watched in bits and pieces — not the way I would usually watch ANY movie (a second viewing is required) — from my computer, but I was extremely impressed. Having not yet created the ISO image and burned it to disc, I can’t really comment on the menus and the like.
Overall, this is a seamless edit and smart combination of Lester’s and Donner’s cuts. I still don’t like the pink bear scene and don’t buy Clark tripping on said bear — and never did buy it, even at a very young age when Supes II was in theaters — but I can understand the choice made here. Personally, I prefer the “blanks” scene (and didn’t mind the glasses/hair issues) and would like to see this same cut with that inserted instead. I also like the removal of the Super-kiss and no repeat of turning the world back, but I wonder if there’s perhaps a cut scene or even a scene from S III or IV which can be used to give Lois and Clark a happier ending as she’s so darned sad at the end of the balcony scene. It would be nice to see them working together with “business as usual” and maybe a shot of Lois w/a knowing look.
As for the editing itself, I think there may have been one or two hard music cuts but, otherwise, the bridging together of these two versions was seamless. Great work, Booshman!

p.s. if anyone knows where I can get a hold of the Blazing Saddles Extended Cut, please let me know.

I’ve just watched the Booshman Cut of Superman II, and overall it is fantastic. What an exceptional job, and totally keeping in tone with the first movie and what the Donner Cut of II should have been. Exceptional moments were the opening credits, the use of titles from both I and II, the depowering scene with the use of Lester’s Lois just seemed to fit better, and the overall pace of the film and the cutting out of the silly jokes. However, there are some basic flaws that seem to damage the heart of Act 2 – the most important being the handling of the pacing of the love triangle between Superman, Lois and Clark.
To begin, all of the Niagara Falls scenes need re-evaluating. Lester shot these, so it is easy to want to cut, but let’s not forget that Lester was working with what Donner had created, so the scenes Lester creates, developing the love triangle, will always remain Donner’s inspiration. Personally, I would have left in the bridal suite scene, the cutting of this so abruptly cuts short the pace. Also, keep in the “straight for the lawyers†joke, plus the “I really thought you were Superman?†joke. Also, the St. Lucia scene should remain, plus the extremely, extremely important Supes saying, “If it wasn’t for him [Clark], I never would have met you… For the first time in my life everything is clear.†This is the very heart of the love triangle: you don’t cut out a line this profound. Then have a fade to black, revealing Clark and Lois in bed straight after the depowering scene, and this would round things off perfectly.
I do love the use of Lester’s green Fortress of Solitude when Clark returns, there was always something haunting about this image. There is a plot hole that arises, though. I do also prefer Superman explaining earlier to Lois how he discovered his calling, but her leaving behind the green crystal implies that this forgetfulness enabled Superman’s repowering, instead of Jor-el having foreseen it. There is no way around it, and overall the inclusion of the two Lester additions rounds things out better.
My points about the love triangle notwithstanding, again, what an excellent job overall – technically it was superb, and it made for a more satisfying movie. In principle, the Donner Cut is far superior to Lester’s vision. However, to make for the highest level of perfection we are ever going to see, the points above really need looking at. As Donner said regarding the first film, “If we can make the love story work then everything else is going to fall into place.â€
