I just learned that my fan edit is being screened next week at the Windy City Pulp and Paper Con!

http://www.windycitypulpandpaper.com/movies.htm

Wish I could be there to sit in the audience and see how it goes over... Quite an honor, regardless...

BTW - don't know if it's still there - but there used to be a billboard at the La Plata exit saying it's the Home of Doc Savage.

slark - very cool about the runtime mention for your fan edit.

As I noted before, I have the original VHS release. With the material you had to work with and your editing, you made this movie so much more watchable than the original movie.

The eye twinkles and the Caucasian Assassin didn't bother me nearly as much as the original music with the vocals. I thought they were wrong for the movie when I saw it when it was released.

I've been to Lester Dent's grave site, and while I never met Norma in person I did work with an older gentleman in the 70s that was a personal friend of hers. I was living in Kirksville Missouri at the time. Just north of La Plata.

I made the IMDb!! Woooo-HOOOOOO!!!

Yeah - have a look:

http://imdb.com/title/tt0072886/

In the "Runtime" section, it lists "94 min (Fan Edit)"!

Too cool...

I have the original VHS tape in the hard plastic case. Loved the books - didn't care much for the movie when I saw at theatre the year it aired. I picked up the VHS tape years later in a discount bin.

Downloading your version slowly off of Rapidshare. Looking forward to seeing your interpretation.

As a fan of George Pal's it always made me sad to see this movie as his last hurrah. I think this FanEditor did a wonderful job reworking this flick into something more watchable. It's amazing that only 7 minutes were actually cut! The alternate music tracks, the (THANK GOD) removal of the eye twinkle and the deletion of the shudder-worthy crib scene go a long way to make this a far more watchable movie. I think George Pal would have been very touched to see such care taken with his final film.
