Conceptual improvements/advancements of edit over original:
DARK CITY, the amazing film directed by Alex Proyas, has always had a special place in my heart.
And while thinking about my next fan edit, I remembered the audio commentary, were Proyas reveals that the voice over at the beginning of the film was dictated upon by the studio. That’s all it took. Remixed by Jorge’s attempt is not to speed up the action (it’s already fast) but instead, to not give away too soon what the film is about. More mystery. Hope you enjoy.

Kudos on another fine edit that puts the original filmmakers to shame.
I found this much better than the original version.
Funny thing cut like this I felt like I was watching the Matrix. (And that’s not a bad thing).
We get to explore the world and the plot reveals along with John. Beautiful work.”

dark city is one of my favorite films ever and this fanedit DOES NOT disappoint. i really enjoyed the sequence of events here in this fanedit and this is a MUCH improved cut of the original DVD version (which is different from the VHS version!).
with the director’s cut now available now, this fanedit could really benefit from a better source to begin with, but how much can you improve on 5/5???
entertainment 5/5
fanediting 5/5
video 5/5
audio 4/5
original 4.5/5
fanedit 5/5
5/5

I’m sorry, but i feel i must point this out, as no one else seems to have
it says in the description that the intention was to “Try to make it more mysterious and puzzling” and also “to not give away too soon what the film is about.”
yet on the cover of the dvd is the god damn city floating in space with the Stranger’s “ship” underneath it!
in fact the image on the cover is taken from the “big reveal” money shot of the movie, the moment near the end where everything in the entire movie is finally explained and understood in 1 shot, the shot that reveals the “mystery and puzzle” that you claim you wanted to amplify in with this edit – and you’ve gone and slapped it right on the damn cover for all to see! i mean, sorry, but what the hell where you thinking?
i know most people who watch a fan edit have seen the original themselves, but honestly, what is the point of removing the voice over at the beginning of the film (which i agree, the movie is better without) which gives away slightly too much right at the start, if you’re just going to put something strikingly revealing to the plot right on the cover art for the dvd? thats infinitly worse than a line of dialogue at the start of the movie, it reveals the actual twist at a point BEFORE the viewer has even started watching it!

(even after that “dumb-ass”-killbillme insulting him, may still is right.
but that does not even scratch the greatness of this fanedit … )
i liked it way better than the directors cut released some time ago.
now i have three editions of this great film on my shelf *being proud*
definetly the highest rating 5/5
