These are the true fanedits that have received the most attention, not just on FANEDIT.ORG, but all over the internet, where people have been talking about them, discussed them and shared them. It is not a list of the best fanedits ever, because that would be too subjective, but reflecting interest taken:

THE MOST FAMOUS TRUE FANEDITS OF ALL TIME:
The Phantom Edit by The Phantom Editor:

Some say this one started fanediting, which is of course not true. What it did was to start the worldwide discussion about them. It was the first fanedit ever to be brought to the attention of a wide audience. At first only available by personal sharing among friends, then available via the newsgroups, where the download numbers crossed the 1 million barrier. And even though it is already several years old, it is still famous and well respected.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 Special Edition REVISITED
by Adywan:

When George Lucas created the Special Editions for his Star Wars Original Trilogy he added an incredible amount of new special effects and some new scenes, but also offended with this a lot of fans. Adywan on the other hand felt inspired and took a 2 years journey into the very heart of A NEW HOPE to present an awesome Special Edition, with even more and better effects shots, vastly improved image quality, additional and altered scenes. For hundreds of thousands of fans this is already the one true and best SE.

Attack Of the Phantom by The Phantom Editor:

The sequel to the Phantom Edit was highly anticipated and did not disappoint the audience at all. Again it was downloaded and shared in the world hundreds of thousand times among SW fans. The famous commentar is still one of the finest extras ever available on a fanedit and the fanedit itself is also still liked a lot.

Matrix Dezionized by CBB:

The combination of Matrix Revolutions and Matrix Reloaded, joining them into one good movie without the incredible bunch of redundancies became incredibly famous pretty fast. It was and is discussed on many websites all over the world, was downloaded and shared hundreds of thousand times and still ranks among the best that was ever done to the original sequels.

Pearl Harbor – Strength and Honor by ADigitalMan:

This is one of the rare examples that a turd can actually be polished if a great creative and skilled mind is behind it. It received a lot of attention and still ranks among the best fanedits ever created.

Star Wars – A Vergence In The Force by ADigitalMan:

Probably the most successful and maybe the best fanedit of Star Wars The Phantom Menace ever made, this fanedit skillfully addresses and solves almost every issue of the original movie. The fans still love it and it is one of the most downloaded fanedits on Fanedit.org.

Terminator 3: T-Hope Edition by T-Hope:

Only a true Terminator fan was the first one to be able to present a truly enjoyable version of Terminator 3. This release was talked about and discussed on many websites, still is and is also an example of what can be done to a movie to really improve it.

Terminator 3 The Coming Storm by Uncanny Antman:

Same movie, new take. The Coming Storm managed to get incredibly famous within a very short time and took over from what T-Hope had so skillfully started. Uncanny Antman’s version is not per se better, but it’s more on the action focused plot seemed to even further show, what a wonderful movie Terminator 3 could have been. It is still discussed a lot and ranks upon the best fanedits ever created.

Kirkless Generations by CBB:

Created still early in the world of online fanedits, this one gained an incredible amount of attention. The almost impossible task to eliminate a leading character from the story entirely caused many discussions throughout the world wide web. As a movie it is still liked and discussed and is a prime exampel of what is possible in the world of fanedits.

Superman Redeemed by ADigitalMan:

This great fanedit manages to combine 2 weak sequels, take the very best from them and combine them to one very well edited movie. The Superman community still praises it as one of the biggest achievements in fanediting.

Blade 3 – Behead The King Edition by CBB:

Since the original was such a major disappointment and the fanbase is huge, this fanedit that eliminated the majority of flat scenes and bad jokes in what should have been an action/horror/superhero movie received a lot of attention and praise, making it still one of the top downloaded fanedits ever. It is another example of a polished turd.

Prison Break The Movie -Episode 1 by CBB:

The most successful TV-show-2-movie fanedit as of yet took the great season 1 of Prison Break and turned it into a movie experience. This fanedit received a lot of attention and great comments and ratings. Condensing a TV show to its essence seemed to be just what the fans needed and wanted for a new watching experience.

Blade Runner 2008 – Extended Edition by ADigitalMan:

Unlike the title this is not just an extended edition, but a new and daring take to create THE complete version of BLADE RUNNER, including 4 different audio options for different takes on the movie. It is still considered the best Blade Runner fanedit and received a lot of all positive attention.

X-Men: Requiem War by Wraith:

This is a bold approach to connect the original 3 X-Men fanedits with the entire focus on the war between mutants and humans. The execution is marvellous and full of true devotion. This fanedit sets an example of how far movies can be altered to a new plot that is even more entertaining than the originals. Fans around the globe watched this in awe and showed their repsect by rating and commenting on it.

Batman Consecution – The True Fanedit Chronicles by Various Faneditors:

The idea of awarded faneditor Mollo took off liek a rocket. Create a DVD with a bucnh of shorts all from different faneditors abotu one theme. It started with Batman and the DVD turned out to be one of the biggest successes in 2008. It still receives a lot of attention and all praise from fanedit fans. The result was a beginning franchise of consecution projects that is still ongoing.

Event Horizon Slashed aka Killer Horizon by Mollo:

EVENT HORIZON was one of the most successful turds ever released. The original movie got a lot of attention and caused a lot of disappointment. That’s where Mollo stepped in to undertake what is considered the hardest part of fanediting: ploishing a turd. And he was very successful. His sc-fi horror fanedit turned out to be one of the most talked about and well received fanedits of all time.

Marvel 24 – Remixed by Jorge:

With the unique concept to turn a bunch of Marvel superhero movies into a 24 episode, Jorge reached a vast audience and this edit became easily very popular. It’s a huge fun ride, not big on the combining plot, but more so on the huge entertainment. This is a very special idea and masterfully put off. The audience keep son saying: thank you for the great joy caused by this fanedit.

Jericho Cane by Uncanny Antman:

THE END OF DAYS was one of the demise movies of Arnie, which most fnas considered in deep frustration a lost cause – until Uncanny Antman saves the day and recreates this movie to a fully entertaining cinematic experience. With his great skills in presenting plots differently and to the point, he again managed to salvage a hidden gem.
It won a true fanedit contest and continued to get great comments and ratings. It will be remembered.

Romero’s Land Of The Dead – Unrated Fancut by Mollo:

When award winning faneditor Mollo picked this one for his next project, no one believed it could actually be any good. Wrong! With great skills and using a lot of scenes from the Romero zombie universe and other movies, he managed to make a consistent and scary horror movie out of LAND OF THE DEAD. A fanedit that does not need to hide behing DAY OF THE DEAD, but takes its well deserved place in a series that now is not just getting worse anymore.

The Crow – City Of Angels: Second Coming by DCP:

When DCP decided to recrerated the second CROW movie the way it was truly intended by the director, he had no idea about the enourmous impact, it would have. Not only did the fans praise him with no end, but the biggest honor of all a faneditor could wish for happened: the original director himself watched the fanedit and was VERY pleased with the result. The best version of this movie you will ever see.

Titanic – The Jack Edit by CBB:

Making the most successful movie of all time bearable for men was a vast and cunning undertaking, which could easily have turned out in a catastrophy and the hatred, especially from teh female community. But the opposite happened. The widely loved fanedit of TITANIC, with its much shorter and more to the point take, was appreciated by the masses and gained a lot of attention throughout the world. And for so many men it was true: for the first tiem they could enjoy this movie and not just wait for the iceberg to finally hit the ship and end the misery.

Lord Of The Rings – Book 1 – The Return Of The Shadow by Kerr:

The first of a six-part edit made to bring Peter Jackson’s adaptations of “The Lord of the Rings” as close as possible to the original book by J.R.R. Tolkien was the very first LOTR fanedit to ever gain huge attention by the fanedit community. The devotion and quality care faneditor Kerr put into this was exactly what the Tolkien fans had wished for – and many others followed with excitement. Kerr has already continued his saga in the same quality and his take on the famous movies and the even more famous books will be remembered and for quite some be the definite versions.

Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doon – The Infodroid Edit by Infodroid:

Until Indy 4 was released, this was widely known as the worst of the series. When Infodroid tackled it to make it more consistent with the other movies, he hit the magic spot of the audience. For so many this is the definite version of Temple of Doom.

Hellblazer – Remixed by Jorge:

It takes a profound knowledge of movies to create a great one from a ver ymediocre one. Jorge succeeded with his take on CONSTANTINE was intended to be a lot closer to the original comic books, yet it also is a great movie to watch. Where the original fails this one entertains.
This is one of the most cared about fanedits still, caused by the interest in the story and the major disappointemnt over the original movie.

Dead Set Serioust by CBB:

The British TV show was a big success, but faneditor CBB managed to turn it into a true zombie horror movie, which is widely seen as the best of its kind in the 2000s. The serious take attracted fans all over the globe and caused great ratings and reviews on so many forums and movie websites.

Never Say McClory Again by Blofelds Cat:

When Sean Connery re-assigned to play what made him so famous in the first place, the JAMES BOND fans around the globe were so happy. Yet the movie was not allowed to be a true JAMES BOND movie, because of studio policy. Blofelds Cat corrected this issue and changed the movie to a true JAMES BOND movie, including the Connery gunbarrel.
This is an old fanedit that has spread around the world and is still considered the one worthy version of NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN.
