a TRUE FANEDIT by geKKo FFTSW has some interesting concepts, but the flat attempts at humor and cliched romance made the movie drag. All the mumbo-jumbo about spirits and phantoms didn’t help either. This edit trims some of the subplots so the main story progresses at a quicker pace. Less dream sequences, cheesy one-liners, and convoluted dialogue makes it a more straight-forward, action-oriented sci-fi movie. Only the scenes involving crimes and police work are intact. However, scenes inolving minor characters and personal lives have been cut. This removes a lot of the depth for the characters that Michael Mann developed so well, but it also speeds up the movie and makes it a more straight-forward, cat-and-mouse game between the cops and the criminals.

This is a radical re-edit in that there is very little exposition and character setup. Similar to Saving Private Ryan, the majority of the movie takes place in Col. Moore’s memories. This was done to make this a more action-oriented war movie.

What is it about? With over 140 edits and 38 minutes cut, what’s left is a well-paced, action packed spy/espionage thriller. Though still not as intriguing as the first MI, noror as dramatic as MI:3, this edit hopefully brings MI:2 closer in feel to them.

What is it about? This is a faster cut that focuses on the Navy SEALs doing their mission. Much of the priest/nuns screentime have been cut. Some redundant exposition involving the ethnic cleansing have been minimized. It is less preachy and simply about the SEALs doing their job.

What is it about? The Island had the potential of being so much more than what it was. It had hints of The Matrix, Blade Runner, and Logan’s Run. But ultimately it relies on cliched action movie devices and the ending doesn’t quite payoff from the setup. Hopefully this edit at least tightens up the story and improves the overall pace.

What is it about? This is just an alternate cut that leaves out the Ava Fontaine (Bridget Moynahan) character. With Ava out of the picture, the relationship between Yuri and Vitaly carries more weight. Yuri’s narration carries this movie from beginning to end, so it’s pretty simple to follow even with the jumps in time.

What is it about? This re-edit of Pearl Harbor simply minimizes all the minor characters and distracting sub-plots. What’s left is the principle storyline of two best friends, the woman they both love, and how their lives are affected by the onset of WWII. With a new runtime of just under 2 hours, the movie feels more focused and poignant.
