How did you start making fanedits and why are you making them? I started making fanedits after stumbling across ADigitalMan’s Superman II: The Hybrid Cut. After exploring fanedit.org further and watching a few other edits, I decided that I’d like to try and make a fanedit of the first season of Smallville. I built my own computer, bought the necessary software and then I was hooked! As to why I’m making them? Purely for the creativity and fun of making a new or alternative viewing experience.
Is there a specific kind of fanedit you want to make? I prefer to work on True Fanedits. I love the challenge of audio editing in particular – to rebuild the audio on a scene from scratch is incredible demanding and difficult, but very rewarding when you get it right.
Do you have a faneditor idol? Well, a few to be honest. Firstly it would have to be ADigitalMan. Without his Superman II:Hybrid Cut and Superman Redeemed, I probably would not have arrived at the pages of fanedit.org. Then there’s TMBTM, whose sheer creativity and slick editing skills have always made me try and push myself harder. The same goes for Uncanny Antman, whose work on T3 – The Coming Storm is still hard to beat in my eyes. Finally, the wonderful boy-ish enthusiasm which runs through all BionicBob edits also inspires me greatly. Those are the guys I look up to really.
Will you continue making fanedits? Definitely. As long as I have ideas and the time.
What are your favorite fanedits, which you didn’t create yourself? Terminator 3: The Coming Storm (Uncanny Antman), Jaws: The Sharksploitation Edit (TMBTM), The Postman: The Expedited Edition (BionicBob), Harmonica (TMBTM – part of the The Ugly West fanedit), Superman II: The Hybrid Cut (ADM), Legion: Exorcist III (Spicediver), Cyborg (BionicBob).
