Spence receives the FE Faneditor’s Award

It was about time! One of the best faneditors around finally receives FE’s award for superior fanediting talent and he has earned it for a long time. Spence has released 9 fanedits so far and there is more on the way. Each and every of his works is of exceptional quality, not just from image and audio, but also from the creative point of view. He dares to really change movies, change plots, take the best and improve on it. When most faneditors stay on the safe side by cutting little annoying snippets here and there, Spence goes a big step further to present movies the way you would have hardly ever imagined them. And he does so with a concept, never just on the fly. He spent months and months planning his most famous fanedit: MATRIX SQUARED. I got to know him several years ago on a Matrix board and he was all about this project, wrote essays on what and how his vision of the sequels could work. And indeed it does. His first fanedit ALEXANDER – THE SPENCE EDIT was released way before the directors cut came out and already showed the potential of this major Hollywood flop. Still it was almost ignored by the FE community. Shame. His later works all show great talent and the mind of someone who likes to be entertained by movies, not willing to give up, when some of the movie officials messed up a release with just wrong decisions. His most daring project was of course RETURN OF THE JEDI -THE SPENCE EDIT, in which he completely removed the Ewoks from the movie. Now although lots of people hate the cute teddybears, even touching a milestone of movie history is a brave act, because lots of SW fans run amok when their beloved trilogy is altered, but Spence proved that it could be done and earned a lot of respect. He is a true faneditor, who wants to entertain his audience with quality movies. Successfully. Thanks for that, Spence, and keep it just up.
