Of course tastes tend to differ. Still people find it very helpful to see, what others like and why. Here now are some recommendations by members to help you find some quality fanedits.

The High Five of Cap: these are my favorite fanedits
Superman II: The Hybrid Cut by ADigitalMan

Terminator 3 â€

Star Wars Episode I: A Vergence In The Force by ADigitalMan

Star Wars Episode II: Path To The Dark Side by ADigitalMan

Star Wars: Revenge of The Sith by ADigitalMan

  • 1. Superman II: The Hybrid Cut by ADigitalMan

Absolutely brilliant. This best-of-both-worlds combination of the Lester and Donner cuts is far superior to either of the official cuts. This is far and away my favorite fan edit. When I explain to friends what fan editing is all about, this is the one I most like to show them, assuming they’re familiar with the source material.

  • 2 Terminator 3: T-Hope Edition by  T-Hope

The movie we would have gotten in theaters if Jonathan Mostow had taken his material seriously. A huge improvement.

  • 3.,4.,5. Star Wars prequels (A Vergence in the Force / Path to the Dark Side / Revenge of the Sith) by ADigitalMan

Technically three fan edits, but I consider them a single integrated work. Excises many of Lucas’s worst ideas (Midi-chlorians, Jar-Jar’s bumbling slapstick, “Yippee!”, some of the more cringe-inducing dialog from the Anakin-Padme romance, etc.) and adds some really nice material from deleted scenes. The Star Wars saga deserves much better than Lucas gave us in the PT. While ADM’s fan edits can’t bring the prequels up nearly to the level of Eps 4 and 5, they are much more watchable than the official versions, which feel almost sacrilegious.

The High Five of JMB: these are my favorite fanedits
Terminator 3 - The Coming Storm by Uncanny Antman

Star Wars: Revisited by Adywan

Prison Break - The Movie - Episode 1 by CBB

Romero's Land Of The Dead: Unrated Facut by Mollo

Batman Consecution -The True Fanedit Chronicles by Various Faneditors

  • T-3: The Coming Storm by Uncanny Antman- The best example of Turd Polishing I have seen so far. T3 will never be in the same league as 1 or 2, but UA managed to get it a hell of a lot closer. A hell of a lot. Fantastic audio and video as well. Really astonishing.
  • Star Wars Revisited by Adywan- Of course, this is a must watch. The sheer amount of passion and effort and skill exhibited here cannot be ignored. Fantastic effort.
  • Prison Break by CBB- A very fun attempt to condense a season of a TV show into a movie. Lots of creative editing on display here, especially considering the amount of material to cut down- not to mention having to remove titles without affecting the story.
  • Land of the Dead by Mollo- Mollo always does very fine work, and is always thinking outside the box. This is my favorite of his so far. I enjoyed it, and – big compliment- have no desire to see the original version at all after watching it.
  • Batman: Consecution- Not sure if I can name this one as I contributed, but what the hell. It deserves mention for being a great idea -Mollo’s- and for everyone’s creativity. Not perfect, sure, but ID and Throw’s pieces alone make it a classic.
The High Five of Elbarto1: these are my favorite fanedits (in alphabetical order)
Azazel by CBB

Lost In Space by Uncanny Antman

Star Wars - Attack Of The Phantom by Phantom Editor

Terminator 3 - The Coming Storm by Uncanny Antman

V for Vendetta - the fanedit by Mollo

  • Azazel by CBB – I really enjoyed this one because the editor makes all the right moves to trim the fat and take a bloated moderately entertaining film and turn it into a leaner, faster paced thriller that is a definite improvement over the original. the DVD menu work and special features found here are top notch as well. 5/5
  • Lost In Space by Uncanny Antman – the original is a fun family film that veers off course with its silly antics, unnecessary characters and bad dialog – the editor skillfully removed all of these and presented this viewer with the film he wanted to see in the theater back in 1998. DVD menu work is nice and special features are interesting.
    4/5
  • Star Wars Episode 2 Attack of the Phantom by The Phantom Editor – After his legendary “Phantom Edit” the phantom editor returns with and even more ambitious project: polishing the (IMO) worst film in the saga to an enjoyable and plausible entry in the series. The interactive commentary track is by far my favorite bonus feature on any fan edit and should be viewed by any aspiring editor, Star Wars fan or not. 5/5
  • Terminator 3 The Coming Storm by Uncanny Antman – Turd polishing at its finest. It takes a cinematic belly flop and corrects it into a triple gainer. Top notch sound work and seamless editing create the film we thought we were going to see. If you hated T3 rise of the machines you need to see this. 5/5
  • V for Vendetta by Mollo – I feel this version tells a better, more emotional tale then the studio release. The editor intended it to follow the graphic novel more closely but I have never read it so I cannot comment there. All I know is I preferred this version over the original so maybe I should read the comic! 4/5
The High Five of Dop: these are my favorite fanedits (not ordered)
Predator Chronicles by Uncanny Antman

Romero's Land Of The Dead: Unrated Facut by Mollo

Batman Consecution -The True Fanedit Chronicles by Various Faneditors

Star Wars 30s Serial Edition Part 2 by TMBTM

Wrong Turn Home - Scary As Hell Edition by 3Raz0r

  • Predator Chronicles by Uncanny Antman – I must have watched these 10 or 15 times now. I love this fanedit.
  • Romero’s Land Of The Dead: Unrated Facut by Mollo – A great great fanedit. Well worth the watch – the original is not.
  • Batman Consecution -The True Fanedit Chronicles by Various Faneditors – A wonderful collection of short Batman movies. A keeper.
  • Star Wars 30s Serial Edition Part 2 by TMBTM – Even better than the first one. Great fun to watch.
  • Wrong Turn Home – Scary As Hell Edition by 3Raz0r – This won close range over THE CELL by the same faneditor. Great collection. And a definite improvement on Wrong Turn.
The High Five of Kboy930: these are my favorite fanedits (ordered from 1 to 5)
Halloween 2k7 - Scary As Hell Edition By 3Raz0r

Prison Break - The Movie - Episode 1 by CBB

Doom - The Posessed Re-Cut by CBB

Romero's Land Of The Dead: Unrated Facut by Mollo

Azazel by CBB

  • Helloween 2K7 Scary As Hell Edition by 3Raz0r – The workprint was good, the original so-so and this is the best possible version from it. A great fanedit.
  • Prison Break – The Movie – Episode 1 by CBB – I love all 3 of these fanedits, but the first one is my favorite. Masterfully turned into a movie experience.
  • Doom – The Posessed Re-Cut by CBB – I thought it was impossible to see a good version o fthis. Apparently it isn’t.
  • Romero’s Land Of The Dead: Unrated Facut by Mollo – Great fan editing. Mollo knew exactly how to improve this giant disappointment.
  • Azazel by CBB – It turns a mediocre movie into a good one.
The High Five of Amok: these are my favorite fanedits (ordered from 1 to 5)
Star Wars: Revisited by Adywan

David Lynch's Dune - The Third Stage Edition: by PhineasBG and Nighthawks

The Crow - City Of Angels - Second Coming: by DCP

Terminator 3 - The Coming Storm by Uncanny Antman

Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade: Unholy Edition: By Infodroid

  • Star Wars – A New hope Revisited (Purist Edition) by Adywan: Adywan did the impossible: Take a perfect movie and improve it. An unbelievable amount of work and dedication went into this one, and the result has to be seen to be believed. It’s become the definitive Version for me.
  • Dune – Third Stage Edition by PhineasBG and Nighthawks: Still not quite what Lynch had in mind, but about as close to it, as we’ll ever get.
  • The Crow: Second Coming by DCP: Amazing dedication here. Manages to tell the story and keep the suspense even when using stills and text only.
  • Terminator 3 – The coming Storm by Uncanny Antman: Another impossible feat: Took a horrible sequel and made it watchable. Some of the best and most seamless editing I’ve seen so far.
  • Indiana Jones and the Las Crusade – Unholy Edition by Infordroid: I love all the Indiana Jones movies (all except that new one), and didn’t think it possible to improve the originals. But the cut list made sense and so I downloaded the edit out of curiosity. Surprisingly I enjoyed this edit more than the original. Sometimes less really is more.
The High Five of Blick57: these are my favorite fanedits (ordered from 1 to 5)
Star Wars: Revisited by Adywan

The Matrix DeZIONized by CBB

Batman - Dluppers Fanedit

Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith by ADigitalMan

The Phantom Edit

  • Star Wars Revisited by Adywan – A professional-quality DVD, with new special effects, edits to get rid of some of GL’s worst ideas, fixes to continuity errors, fixes to color problems, and much more. A masterpiece. Replaces my offical EP 4 SE DVD without a second thought.
  • The Matrix DeZIONized by CBB – This is exactly the movie I wanted to see in the theaters. No Zion scenes at all, and it works great. Will easily replace both my Reloaded and Revisited discs.
  • Batman – Dluppers Fanedit by Dluppers – A fresh new take on the classic Burton films. The two movies are expertly weaved together so the the plots run concurrently. Doesn’t replace my discs, but sits proudly right next to them.
  • Star Wars Episode 3 – Revenge Of The Sith by ADigitalman – A very good film becomes even better with a lot of minor annyoing bits removed. Anakin no longer has doubts when he turns to the dark side, and that alone allows it to take the place of my official copy.
  • Star Wars – Episode 1 – The Phantom Edit by Phantom Editor – Worth it just for the history and the commentary.
The High Five of Tranz0r: these are my favorite fanedits (in no particular order)
Romero's Land Of The Dead: Unrated Facut by Mollo

Big Trouble in Little China: Fully Engorged Edition by N0march

War Of The Worlds - Extinctive Cut by CBB

X-Men: Requiem War by Wraith

Kill Bill X remixed by Jorge

  • Romero’s Land Of The Dead: Unrated Fancut by Mollo – This edit is amazing. Mollo totally created a custom introduction to the film and removed most of the nonsense throughout. I can actually enjoy Land of the dead now. I recommend viewing his Star Trek: Bugs edit as well
  • Big Trouble In Little China: Fully Engorged by N0march – NOmarch took one of my favorite films from the 80’s and added in virtually every deleted and alternate scene from the special edition dvd set, making this a greater viewing experience overall. I also recommend seeing his “From Hell: knife cuts a little deeper” extended edit.
  • War Of The Worlds – The Extinctive Cut by CBB – Absolutely mind blowing and one of the first edits I saw that led me into this hobby! CBB took the 2005 version and totaly revamped it, making it closer to the original story by H. G. Wells (with a much darker ending). Excellent work on this one! Pretty much anything by CBB is recommended
  • X-Men Requiem War by Wraith – All I can say is “wow!”. Wraith took all three X-men films as well as many deleted scenes and reassembled and rearranged the entire saga making it his own! If you want to see a well written edition of “what could have been”, look no further than this edit. I have not seen his other work, but if it is like this you cannot lose.
  • Kill Bill X – Remixed by Jorge – One of the first edits I have seen and still among the best. Jorge’s work is well known. Here he takes the kill Bill series and re-edits and alters the storyline (for much better viewing in my opinion) and delivers one hell of an action packed extravaganza while in Jorge fashion catering to the darker side of things. An older edit that needs to be brought back into the spotlight. Mostly anything by Jorge is recommended.
The High Five of Nick Mollo: these are my favorite fanedits (in no particular order)
Titanic - The Jack Edit by CBB

Star Wars IV - Revisited by Adywan

JAWS The Sharksploitation Edit by TMBTM

Terminator 3 The Coming Storm by Uncanny Antman

The Phantom Edit

  • Titanic: The Jack Edit by CBB – Far More Romantic and Better than the Original!
  • Star Wars: Revisited EP IV by Adywan – The Authoritative Version!
  • Jaws: The Sharksploitation Edit by TMBTM – Brilliant FanEdting and very Funny!
  • Terminator 3: The Coming Storm by Uncanny Antman – Proof a Turd can be Polished!
  • Star War Episode 1: The Phantom Edit by Phantom Editor – Still Bad but Better with an Enlightening Commentary.
The High Five of Juk: these are my favorite fanedits (in no particular order)

Terminator 3 The Coming Storm by Uncanny Antman

Marvel24 - Remixed by Jorge

Wing Commander Countdown To Invasion by Lewis886

The Phantom Edit

Conan The Destroyer - Serious Edition by Leonenut

  • Terminator 3- The Coming Storm by Uncanny Antman (the movie I wanted to see in the theater)
  • Marvel 24 by Jorge (excellent display of editing skills with multiple use of source material into a one-of-a-kind fanedit)
  • Wing Commander-Countdown to Invasion by Lewis886 (huge improvement over original, no more high school drama)
  • The Phantom Edits (for the commentaries alone, required material for any wannabe fanedit conisouir ;) )
  • Conan the Destroyer- Serious Edition by Leonenut (at least it’s tolerable to view now without cringing!)
The High Five of Boon23: these are my favorite fanedits (in no particular order)
Terminator 3 The Coming Storm by Uncanny Antman

Halloween 2k7 - Scary As Hell Edition By 3Raz0r

The Descent - Scary As Hell Edition by 3Raz0r

Hellblazer remixed by Jorge

Romero's Land Of The Dead: Unrated Facut by Mollo

  • Terminator 3: The Coming Storm by Uncanny Antman: A fantastic take on T3, which really makes watching this movie a worthwhile and thrilling terminator experience. A true improvement over the original.
  • Halloween2k7 – Scary As Hell Edition by 3Raz0r: Rob Zombie’s remake was full of flaws and inconsistencies, this fanedit is not. Especially the part of young Michael is highly improved and makes this version really scary and a great horror movie to watch.
  • The Descent – Scary As Hell Edition by 3Raz0r: The Descent without the dragging long parts. This cave trip is a trip to hell. The removal of the subplots and the psychology makes this a true horror monster hunt movie. Very thrilling.
  • Hellblazer remixed by Jorge: This is as good as Constantine could ever get. Finally a movie much closer in the spirit of the great graphic novels. Sinister. Dark. And much more suspenseful.
  • Romero’s Land Of The Dead – Unrated Fancut: That’s what fanediting can be: Turning a turd into a good zombie horror movie. I loved it. Great concept, great ideas and a lot of creative work. Brilliant.

Terminator 3 - T-Hope Edition

Fifth Element - Prime Evil by Voodl

Two Exits From Pan's Labyrinth by CBB

Dead Set Serious by CBB

The Story Of The Empire Strikes Back by MoveAlong

  • Terminator 3 – T-HOPE Edition by T-HOPE: A fantastic fanedit of T3. This takes all of the goofy crap out and truly makes for an exciting Terminator film.
  • The Fifth Element – Prime Evil Edition: Another lesson in keep the silly stuff out! This edit makes some interesting cuts and really trims Ruby Rhod’s character back. This really helps to keep our focus on the main story. Much more exciting!!
  • Two Exit’s From Pan’s Labyrinth by CBB: Another masterpiece from CBB. Did you ever wonder what Pan’s Labyrinth would be like as a truly focused fantasy film? or did you really enjoy the war sequences and wonder what that story would be like? Now you can have both, in two separate experiences. A must watch.
  • Dead Set Serious by CBB: CBB strikes again with another fine edit.  This one is a great example of taking a television series and creating a cool theatrical experience.  Dead Set was a nice show to begin with, but this take on the miniseries turns a decent television watch into a really thrilling horror movie.
  • The Story of the Empire Strikes Back by Movealong: Movealong should pride himself on quality, because it doesn’t get much better than this. A pristine transfer of the 1980 LP adventure synced to the film and artwork for an exciting adventure. The DVD authoring and bonus features are also spectacular. This is another special release that really helps you feel the nostalgia.

another special release that really helps you feel the nostalgia.

The High Five of Vanity76: my favorite HORROR fanedits
Texas Chainsaw Massacre - The Thomas Hewitt File by CBB

Tranzor's Dawn Of The Dead 2004

Blade 3 - Behead The King Edition by CBB

Halloween 2k7 - Scary As Hell Edition by 3Raz0r

Tranz0r's The Thing - Late Night TV Edit

  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre – The Thomas Hewitt File: From the beginning to the end this is a great horror movie. Much better than each of the remakes and more modern than the original.
  • Tranz0r’s Dawn Of The Dead 2004: No zombie baby! This truly improves on that great remake.
  • Halloween 2k7 – Scary As Hell Edition: Shut the fuck up, Michael! And indeed he does – and it’s awesome. Who would have thought Rob Zombie was capable of shooting such a good movie? Not editing it though, because this had to be done by the fans. :)
  • Blade 3 – Behead The King Edition: Not a perfect movie, but worthy of being called BLADE. This one I could truly enjoy.
  • Tranz0r’s The Thing – Late Night TV edit: Now this got me in the perfect mood and I enjoyed it a lot. What a fanedit!

The Matrix Evolutions by JasonN

Dawn of the Dead: Extended Mall Hours Cut by officially unofficial

Vincent and Butch: A Pulp Fiction Fanedit by CBB

Star Wars Revisited by Adywan

  • The Matrix Evolutions: The other fanedits of the Matrix sequels focus on ‘decrapifying’ – this edit focuses on changing the story to fit the original much closer – to great effect.
  • Dawn of the Dead: Extended Mall Hours Cut: This is a beautifully done edit, where loads of extra footage from the different versions of George Romero’s classic film are blended into one presentation. This is my preferred version.
  • Vincent and Butch: Vincent and Butch is a lot of fun. Two characters from Tarantino’s perfect film are given their own coherent storylines.
  • Star Wars Revisited: What can I say? It’s just perfect. You can freely replace your Special Edition of Star Wars with this beauty.
