Synopsis:
This edit combines several sources of media depicting the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2011 into a two and a half hour presentation.
Intention:
This edit begins on a calm Tuesday morning in New York City. The date? September 11, 2001. This edit portrays the hijacks of Flight 11, 175, 93 and 77; planes hitting the north and south towers of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and crashing in the Pennsylvania field. The immediate reaction by law enforcement and first responders is and confusion and chaos. The FAA orders the grounding of all air traffic while the towers collapse. It was sheer chaos on the streets of New York, and this edit aims to capture this tone and atmosphere. The edit ends with the the immediate aftermath of the attacks, enactment of the PATRIOT Act, invasion of the Afghanistan, and campaigns to trick the American people and international community to approve of the invasion of Iraq. I incorporate Movies, TV Shows, documentaries, news reports, amateur camcorder footage, interviews, and dramatic enactments. This edit culminates with the invasion of Iraq, with a 'LETS GET THE TERRORISTS!' vibe.
I wanted to tell the entire story start to finish, however there is SO MUCH 9/11 media, and the timeline starts as early as the 1990s and arguably continues to this day. I quickly realized this would be too much for one single edit, so I broke it up into three separate edits. This edit is the middle chapter, and I will follow up with separate edits detailing the events leading up to 9/11, and America's 'War on Terror' and the invasion of Iraq.

Editing Details:
This edit is presented with some scenes letterboxed and some in full screen. Why? Well, I was unhappy with zooming in on the letterboxed footage to make it fit a standard 16:9 ratio. However, I was unwilling to place black bars on the 16:9 footage to letterbox it. Therefore, all footage is presented in its original aspect ratio.
Cuts and Additions:
My source material ranged from dramatic enactments to more factual documentary type pieces. I took the main parts from each that focused on 9/11 and arranged everything into one massive timeline. This 'assembly cut' was around 4 hours. From there, I deleted scenes that were duplicated elsewhere, and sometimes combined two or more scenes into one. I wanted to keep the past moving quickly, to help convey the chaos during the day. To help with this, I did not add a time tickers as you might expect. I felt this would help orient viewers, which I wanted to avoid. I also removed any type of clock or time present in the source material. The result is a very past paced, disorienting experience. I feel this is appropriate given the subject matter.

The editing of the events and how they were told were very well done. Your edit tells the events without repeating itself unlike many documentaries that I have seen regarding the topic. The only thing I would suggest to be changed would be to update some of the real life recordings to higher quality ones whether it be from other documentaries or internet archives if still available.

<div>This edit is a fascinating, in-depth look into a part of history that is somehow simultaneously over-emphasised and overlooked. The fusion of dramatic, historical, and first hand sources creates a compelling tension that draws you in and makes you anxious to find out what happens next (even though you already know!)
I only had a few issues with this edit. In the first half, the first-hand accounts of the events of the day are fairly sparse, so when they come in it's a little distracting and pulled me out of the drama. Similarly the narrator that pops up in the second half feels strange, and brings with him a shift to a more comedic ton of "Can you believe they did this?" which is an awkward change from the first half.
There were also a few individual moments I had issues with:
At 1:21:15 one of the United 93 passengers is wrestling with a terrorist and breaks his neck. This felt very campy and Hollywood-y to me.
Similarly, at 1:22:00 when bashing down the door someone shouts "If we don't get in there, we'll all die!" which is a really dumb line considering that they're already bashing down the door and don't need encouraging, and they presumably know the stakes of the situation.
At 1:25:00 the audio fades out and doesn't fade back in in time leaving a short silence and cutting off part of a sentence. At 1:26:30 the cut to a dramatization feels very out of place. It's a HD 16:9 movie scene sandwiched in between a lot of SD 4:3 and 21:9 news footage, it cuts in pretty harshly after a fade to black, it's unclear where it is set and who the characters are, it's the only time in the edit that the possibility of preventing 9/11 is brought up and the characters are never seen again. I'd recommend cutting this scene.
At 1:34:40 Dick Chaney whispers to George Bush "... for COG, Continuity Of Government", the way this line is said makes GB come across like an idiot being puppeteered by Chaney. I know this is a popular image of Bush, but I'm not sure how accurate it is that he wouldn't know basic things. I'd recommend cutting the word COG if possible.
At 1:37:40 the editing seems to convey the idea that the other members of the Bin Laden family in the US we're a part of or complicit in the 9/11 attacks. I don't know if this was the editor's intention, or what the real positions of these people were, but it seems like an odd implication, since removing them from the US would be a pretty sensible move if they were innocent, and borderline conspiracy if the FBI knew that they weren't.
Finally at 2:06:00 there is a freeze frame on an introduction that lasts a little too long, and made me think my player had frozen.
This edit id definitely worth watching if you have even a passing interest in history, and it's probably the best piece of 9/11 media I've ever scene (although that's not a long list) and it I was struck by how familiar the atmosphere from the era of my early childhood felt, and how different it was to today.</div>

I admire the unconventional approach taken in this edit. It's rare to find projects on this site that blend multiple sources into a documentary/narrative hybrid. I agree with wraith that I'd like to see more. While the transitions between sources are noticeable, they don't disrupt the viewing experience. Instead, they provide a 'fly on the wall' sensation, offering a raw glimpse into the events. The project not only presents a clear depiction of that day but also serves as a time capsule, encapsulating the eras from which the sources are drawn. I was particularly thoughtful after seeing the differences in tone and general feeling of World Trade center (2003) and VICE (2018).
I've long sought a blend of factual representation and dramatization of 9/11, but most attempts in traditional media often feel overdone, especially reenactments seen on places like the History Channel. This edit, however, is executed with taste and respect, which I deeply admire.
For anyone interested in history or seeking to educate themselves on the lesser-known details of 9/11, I highly recommend this edit. I found it engaging and informative, and I'm surprised it wasn't recognized in some of the FEOTY categories. I eagerly anticipate greenturnedblue's next project.

As a person who has known someone whom died on 9/11 this edit has struck me dearly. 9/11 Consecution is a very well put together edit that not only triggers the mind, but is very well informative in many ways of the events. Honestly I have no qualms with how this was done. As any edit, there are a few glitches here and there but not really anything to at all to complain about since it can be hard given the material. If this gets updated for any reason, I'll definitely be interested.

Remarkable!
To juggle the entire 9/11 timeline into a larrgely cohesive docu/drama is to be applauded.
There are not enough non-movie edits out there...and I for one would like to see more.
the fact that this is middle portion of a 3 part seies is exciting, despite the gravity of the material's subject matter.
Naturally, mainstream documataries focus on one subject...The lead up to...or Flight 93, or the Fire dept, NYPD etc. Blending all these and more with contemporaneous nes as well is a real feat.
The Video quality is as per the source material.
There are a few clunk audio transitions that could do with a clean up, but most are clean. By ist nature, many juxtaposed hard cuts will occur but ar par for the course.
The narrative is solid, clear and necessarily harrowing, to a degree that these days is censored by the mainstream...SO BE WARNED!
ENJOYMENT is NOT the word one would use to express the experience of watching this, however, it is informative, it WILL take you back, and it will leave you bith stunned and numb and yet wanting more.
A great achievement, but harrowing, as it sould be and was.
