The Sonic franchise was something I truly enjoyed as a child. As I was looking for edits, I saw the first 2 movies were put together by Kikanator96 and I knew I needed to jump in after I was impressed by the Age of Ultron edit.
I am not an expert on audio and visual editing. Personally, everything seemed to be in order from my vantage point. The HD quality matched what I was accustomed to. There were no blatant nor hard cuts that would be easily noticed by a casual viewer. Most importantly, the insertion of the classical songs of the franchise were put in seamlessly and felt like a natural part of the movie. I like to note that the new music did not take away from the character's dialogue. I have noticed in other fan edits where new music can be too loud and you cannot hear what people are saying.
I really felt like the music pumped up my childhood nostalgia factor and enhanced the narrative. The best part of the narrative cuts were to remove much of the childish content and nonessential portions of both movies. This edit made the movies pass by a lot cleaner and smoother.
Unfortunately, there is an inherent childishness to these movies that cannot be removed. Sonic is a character intended more for children than adults, but this movie edit can be enjoyed by the whole family. The childish aspects of the movie were my biggest issues. This has more to do with the movies than the edit itself. Overall, removing much of Sonic's childishness made him more likeable and character growth more believable.
I want to thank the editor for sharing the edit with me. It really brought back some positive childhood memories and I think it can do the same for others. I also am looking forward to the next movie to see my favorite character of the franchise - Shadow the Hedgehog.

Well, well, well. An edit that combines both movies into a seamless narrative. This film is very near to me, as I waited for the actual film to come out for years. Having just watched this, I can say this is better than the original, if only for the fact that there's actual game music in this. One of the things the Mario movie did so well was remix game music into the score, so I was pleased to see one of the best game-based bands have their music in this. Excellent work, and I look forward to more.

A very fun edit that does a great job in combining Sonic the Hedgehog 1 & 2 into one movie.
I do have a couple of minor quibbles: the intro voiceover switching from Tails to Sonic does have an abrupt transition and the fade to black cut transitioning from Sonic 1 to Sonic 2 is obvious.
Other than that, the narrative is pretty solid, all the excess humor and subplots removed while still being funny and entertaining as hell. Highly recommended. 9/10.

Honestly, the edit is ok.
Theres certain things I would have changed or removed and there are still some issues like the Junkie XL tracks clashing with the Sonic music at times, and certain things that should have been removed. Also, please stop using the Unleashed themes. My god, I love unleashed, but using the "Dark Gaia" part of the theme repeatedly gets really annoying after a while.
Though removing the bar scene in Sonic 1 was a solid move and specific edits were great.
Its honestly a mixed bag. 7/10 due to good editing and decent direction, but needs some work to really work as well as other fanedits.
