Synopsis:
In this sequel to The Atom Man, Superman's battle against his most dangerous foe continues. Just when the Atom Man is about to destroy Metropolis, the Kryptonite power in his blood runs out. In order to get ahold of one of the remaining pieces of Kryptonite, he teams up with the sinister Sydney. Knowing that Clark Kent is Superman, they lure the mild mannered reporter into a trap, intent on finishing him off for good, so they can finally rule the world.

Atom Man in Metropolis is a story arc spanning 19 episodes. The original episodes have a running time of about 12 minutes, including an intro and an outro, a commercial break and recaps, as well as many drawn-out scenes of repetitive or expositional dialog. In order to enhance the pacing I removed all of the unnecessary stuff, rearranged bits of dialog, and cut some episodes almost entirely. I also added music, which the originals didn't have at all, and several sound effects.
Intention:
I wanted to enhance the pacing and create a smoother listening experience. The sound quality of the original files is a little rough at times, and since the show was recorded with only one microphone the volume levels of the actors tend to vary. I tried to fix most of it, but it's still audible. Try to enjoy the nostalgic feel of it.
Additional Notes:

ABOUT THE SHOW

The Adventures of Superman aired from 1940 to 1950 and contributed substantially to Superman canon. Superman first encountered Kryptonite on the radio show and also teamed up with Batman and Robin before he did in the comics. The show also introduced characters such as Perry White, Jimmy Olsen and Inspector Henderson.

If you enjoy The Adventures of Superman, please spread the word. I find it quite frustrating, that most fans don't even seem to be aware of its existence, let alone the fact, that it laid the groundwork for The Man of Steel's success. Bud Collyer, who played Kent and Superman in over 2000 episodes, is hardly ever acknowledged in retrospectives, although he had a huge influence on the way both characters were portrayed in later incarnations.

Other Sources:
I used more than 30 different tracks from all Superman soundtracks available, including the 90's TV show, as well as pieces by Gustav Mahler (Symphony No. 5) and Benjamin Britten (War Requiem). In Volume 1 and 2 of The Kryptonite Saga, I included two commercial breaks. This time I chose an excerpt from a BBC4 interview with 25 year old Jerry Siegel, instead of a second commercial.

With this edit (better definition might be a mix), Siebener concludes his Superman audio trilogy on a peak. This installment focuses on narrative and action. Next to no jokes, juvenile humor, or dimwitted henchmen. Jimmy Olsen continues to have the intelligence of a goldfish, but he is minimized.

Audio - Very clean, clear presentation. The layering and cross-fading is outstanding, as are the musical enhancements. This modernizes the overall effect somewhat. Really well done.

Narrative - Siebener has done an excellent job. This is available as part of a multi disc CD box set, and I can declare the straight up episodes are tedious beyond belief. Siebener has honed an enjoyable, and coherent, B-film for the ears. Even if you missed the previous two installments (c’mon, they are an hour each), you will have no trouble picking up the plot and following along.

Enjoyment - As noted, I regard this as the finest edit Siebener has done to date. Fun, popcorn packed adventure as the Man Of Steel battles Atom Man, the diehard Nazi, bent on destroying Metropolis. The last seconds of the edit even leave the possibility of a further sequel open ... if barely a crack ... with the Caped Crusader. Creative and inventive work here, more ought to check this out.

Fantastic job, trimming away exposition and repetition, and blending in later soundtracks. A fine tribute to a series that helps erode the myth -- fostered by the Donners' movies -- that Clark Kent was always a bumbling twit who couldn't say boo to a goose. Classic Superman, in a show that influenced the comics too.

I've been on a binge of these audio edits. This third installment is a fantastic addition to the series. What began with the Scarlet Widow and continued in the Atom Man has a satisfying concluding arc here. There is still a plot thread out there, but it doesn't call for immediate resolution. The next story could easily be a different adventure. I'm glad it won't be, and I look forward to volume 4 and the special guest stars.

I've said before that this really seems like an official project. Remixing these old episodes to cut out redundancies and to add score and music cues gives the story way more than a facelift. It also gets a boob job and a tummy tuck. It's all-new, fresh, and a solid addition to anyone's Superman collection.

The length of each episode is perfect for your commute. You can't get upset at the traffic when you've got these edits to listen to.

There are a few cases where a voice will fade out, but it feels stylistic rather than a flaw. There is some static in places, but I find it actually enhances the experience. Siebener has done an amazing job in cleaning up these episodes. Check out some of the originals on archive.org and see for yourself.

I'm looking forward to volume 4.
