This is a joyous surprise. Adding the deleted scenes makes this a better film (significantly so for character development and pacing). The seemingly minor changes on top of that lift this film to a level that I hadn't realized it could reach! Box up your original disc, this is the version you want to watch and re-watch.
The rich colors are comic-book gorgeous. Several small trims create a better balance between Peter's immaturity and his likeability as a character. While Gwen Stacy remains the highlight of the film, it's Connors who gains the most in this edit. He is more fully-developed and more tragic because of it.
For my taste, I might change just one detail: cut the hero-shot webslinging at the very end. It feels gratuitous. Instead close with Gwen smiling at Peter's "broken promises".
