The Amazing Spider-Man was marketed as the "untold story," but the version we got was pretty much a retread of the original film with a couple more references to Peter Parker's parents.
Through the inclusion of some deleted scenes, and a couple of scenes from TASM2, Masirims017's Untold Extended Edition absolutely delivers on providing a truly unique "untold" story!
From a technical level, this edit is superb. The visual editing on deleted scenes is at a professional quality, and the audio editing is perfect. I loved the inclusion of musical motifs from the Rami trilogy, which makes this feel more like a 4th chapter in the Spider-Man saga and less like a total reboot.
Deciding to conclude the subplot of Richard Parker in this first movie also goes a long way to making the story feel more unique (and the Untold Finale Edition of TASM2 is made all the better for it). The only thing that couldn't be edited around is Peter's changing hair style between the two movies, and a few scenes where the map in his room isn't visible. But those are very minor things, and ultimately the story is better for the inclusion of those scenes, so it's forgivable.
At 2hr40min, the runtime makes this the single longest Spider-Man film. That said, it feels epic in it's scope, with an excellent flow and pacing between the acts. This is, without a doubt, my go to version of The Amazing Spider-Man.
