Synopsis:
My edit of Halloween (2018) aims to tighten up the pacing while eliminating some of the more polarizing elements of the film like Sartain wearing Michael's mask. I also made a point to eliminate some of the more cringeworthy lines throughout when possible and added in a deleted scene to help with a bit of character development. Doesn't reinvent the wheel but also not a minor edit that took an hour to do.
Intention:
Halloween (2018) may have been my most anticipated movie of all time. While I left the theater thrilled with the movie I had just seen, the faneditor in me never feels completely content. I knew there were pacing issues and some mind boggling choices made. There were also some lines that made me roll my eyes instantly. I anxiously awaited the movie to have a home release so I could create a definitive version for myself and hopefully for others as well.
Other Sources:
Used breathing sound effects from the original Halloween.
Special Thanks:
Special thanks to jswert123456 for yet again creating an amazing blu-ray cover for this edit!

As a fellow Halloween fan, I'm always interested when Ryantology approaches a new Halloween fanedit. His take on Halloween 2018 is an edit I should have got around to watching ages ago, but finally I've corrected that error and boy am I glad I did.
I should first point out that I do have problems with Halloween 2018. It's a great looking film, with an excellent score, but some of the script and story choices leave a lot to be desired for me. Now, I'm not pretending that Ryantology has completed reversed those problems, but his choices of what to cut and where to cut, are pretty much flawless for me.
Firstly, the removal of the most ill-fitting of the humour is most welcome. It improves the feel and flow of the film no-end, even if I still think even further trims could have been made - but that's just personal choice ultimately. Another issue for me has always been the character of Laurie's daughter, Karen -she drives me nuts and I almost want Michael to kill her most of the time she's on screen. I am therefore very thankful for the removal of the scene where Laurie breaks into Karen's home - of course Laurie too can be a bit annoying in this film, so excising this made me happy.
Other pluses include the removal of the final shouting of the line "say something" before the credits start. I never liked that, and this works so much better. The removal of Sartain putting on Michael's mask is superbly done... I would never have know any different. Loved the added breathing sound effects - jus made me smile and it strengthens the bond this film has with Carpenter's original. Oh and thank the lord the Bahn Mi sandwich scene is heavily trimmed.
I have to admit I wasn't too sure on the decision to cut the whole hunter and his son stumbling on the crash, just mainly because I love how that scene is shot and it's genuinely creepy. Having said that, it still works perfectly well without it.
All in all, this is an excellent edit and Ryantology should be congratulated for creating a much better version of the film. Alas, I still have problems with the film, but that's kind of in its DNA and can't be solved for me. Other than that, exemplary work and highly recommended to any Halloween fan.

While my favorite line in the movie is excised, Ryantology trimmed the less than respectful elements of the original cut, providing an experience that is a more respectful follow up to 1978's Halloween.

Thank you Ryantology! So I am a longtime Halloween fan and have always given each new iteration the benefit of the doubt and try and go in as cold as possible, no spoilers, no reviews, the trailer for the hype then straight into the film. Well I recall not really connecting to H2018 with all the good will and open mind. I don't think I finished my first viewing when I first got to see it and then I promptly forgot about it.
I was somewhat stumbling around the world of fan editing, i'm a curious viewer rather than an editor, and I landed upon this edit by Ryantology who most kindly enabled me to see their fine work. I settled in once more hoping to be gripped and I sure was. This edit is all killer and no filler, the story had real momentum and ran smooth as clockwork. I was greatly satisfied with the leanness of the story, no forced comedy or distracting side missions, this ran through and true. I loved it! I got a buzz for the next few Halloween films now. And if they need sharpening then Ryantology is the person to do it.

This edit is a great alternative to the theatrical cut of Halloween (2018). Ryantology greatly improves the pacing of the movie by removing some comedy bits that go on a little too long, odd narrative choices, and adds a deleted scene that gives Allyson and her friends some more depth. So if you want a more streamlined version of Halloween (2018) or if you didn't enjoy some of the jokes I recommend this edit 100%.

I loved the hell out of Blumhouse's Halloween. Is it perfect? No. But it was a glorious return to form for the franchise following a string of epic disappointments. This edit manages to work even better than the theatrical cut, with very smart cutting choices, and the addition of a deleted scene to add some more character development and enrich the story is top-notch. Great stuff.

I was excited to see that someone had attempted an edit of the latest Halloween Re-Sequel. My sister and I rarely go to the theaters on account that there are very very few good movies in them now a days, but despite Danny McBride's involvement in the film, we were determined to see it on the big screen. Walking out of the theater I was partially impressed, as it was better in many ways than many of the sequels in regards to production value, though in regards to story line and characters, they could have done a lot better. And this is where I though that Danny McBride played a large role, but apparently this David Green character isn't the best script or character writer either as the script had a case of "this happened and then this happened, and then this happened" and so on, rather than "this happened because of this, and so because of that, this happened", and on that note, this movie not only assumes that part 2 through 6 never happened, but also that the original Halloween did not end as it ended.
Needless to say, for reasons unknown to man, The Supernatural Boogie man that can not be taken down, finds himself locked up in prison, and is about to be transported to another prison...
...on Halloween night, and traveling not far away from the town in which he used to live.
And so as one would expect, he escapes during the transportation process, and that scene was actually one of my favorite scenes from the theatrical cut as he kills a young boy, which to me only serves to make the killer all that more intimidating in a horror flick. Sadly though in this cut, that scene has been cut all together, which for me made the movie feel a little disjointed, as did removing the earlier introduction to the baby sitter, but it did not to the extent to where I could not follow along, and the transitions appeared to be seamless, though these changes did make it feel a bit more random than it felt in the theater.
As for the character moments that were left in, I guess we have to have them, though the characters are still annoying, just not as annoying because there was less of them.
Jamie Lee Curtis was of course fine, though she really didn't seem to have any reason to be in the movie, though I can of course see why she was in it, and her character did make sense, but sadly the focus was pretty much on everyone else, what they were going to were to the Halloween dance, and so forth.
Michael was fine, except too random. I guess it was fine to say that Jamie Lee Curtis' character wasn't his sister, but they should have made a connection between him and going back home as that seemed to be where he was drawn in the original Halloween and had only targeted Jamie and her friends because they just happened to be the first people he saw by his house early in the film. As it stands it is just completely random, and gives Michael absolutely no motive what so ever, which would be fine, if he did not appear to have the house as part of his motives in the original.
All that said, I still hate the film, but not because of the edit. The talent behind the edit was there, but the source material is just crap, minus a kill or two. None the less I give it a high score and suggest it to people who like this sort of thing. As for me, I'll stick with John Carpenter's original as well as Season of the Witch.
