This is easily the best version of the film, Spicediver's edit ist masterfully done. It exceeds previous cuts of this film as well as the '21 film. The ending gave me chills and is by far better than the original.

Hi Spicediver, I've saw many edits and versions of Dune and i must say yours is quite good =)

I wish to pinpoint the following:
- Because you've used deleted scenes, extras, there were a few details of continuity, for once one that comes to mind is when Paul fights that Fremen warrior and gets injured and is dirty and in the next scene he is ok.
- I would loved to have seen more of the final battle.

Great job though =)

If you want to watch Dune (1984) then this is the best option. The only downside is - some added scenes have worse image quality (because these are deleted scenes...). For me it's a ultimate fanedit (of any movie).

Lynch's film can never be the Dune I imagined from my reading, but this has to be the best cinematic version yet. The division into chapters, the choice quotes, the lack of rain at the end (um, belated spoiler alert), the addition of numerous deleted scenes—all these enrich the viewing experience.

The film still contains dialogue explaining the obvious, but that's a shortcoming I attribute to Lynch—ironic, given his usual and usually effective method of having all sorts of funkomatic stuff on screen without corresponding verbal exposition.

I also appreciate the "anamorphic" resizing of the video (I watched the mp4), which looks great on my TV. It looks sharper than the Alternative Edition v2. The version I watched was supposed to contain some a/v divergences, but I didn't notice any.

Paul's eyes didn't turn blue until well into his stay on Arrakis, but that can be corrected in the Ultimate Alternative Edition Full Circle Kwisatz Haderach Reducttape v4.

Seriously, I think Frank Herbert would have raised his cup (of spicy worm juice) to this version more than any other that has come before.

i was torn in whether to write a review for this edit but i've always written a review for every fanedit that i've seen. i must confess that i've never seen the original dune film so i can't compare this edit to the original. i know that david lynch has somewhat disowned the film and had many problems with the studio. i picked up the steel box double sided disc version of this for less than a pond at second hand store (a bargain given the price it sells on ebay) instead of watching either version i decided to watch a fanedited version as it's highly regarded and said to be the best version of the film.

the editing here is of a really high standard and for many dune fans i can see why they appropriate this edit so much. truth is i didn't enjoy the film very much, i am a fan of david lynch and have seen all but a couple of his films but i do feel this to be his weakest yet.

the narrative in splitting the film into four books is well done i felt the first book to be the most difficult in terms of enjoyment but does improve during book II. the deleted scenes are incorporated without disturbing the follow or the movie. they do stick out in terms of quality though i'm sure the editor did the best he could be clean them up.

overall i am glad that i finally watched dune i did struggle to watch this all in one go and i'm sure that fans of the book can view this as a definitive version of the film. it doesn't however feel like a david lynch film and in many ways big budget studio films doesn't suit his style of film making.
