Synopsis:
A boy obsessed with '50s sci-fi movies about aliens has a recurring dream about a blueprint of some kind, which he draws for his inventor friend. With the help of a third kid, they follow it and build themselves a spaceship. Now what?
Intention:
After both cuts of Explorers were finally made available in HD in the U.S., I decided to merge the Home Video Cut with the Theatrical Cut to create the most complete version of the film possible. With the classroom daydream sequence integrated into the theatrical cut, I am proud to present Explorers: Definitive Cut.
Additional Notes:
Additional color grading was done to give this cut an HDR look and feel. Both cuts were sourced from the Shout! Factory Shout Select Blu-ray release. Explorers: Definitive Cut clocks in at 110 minutes, making it 1 minute longer than the Theatrical Cut and 4 minutes longer than the Home Video Cut.
Other Sources:
Explorers - Shout Factory Collector's Edition Blu-ray
Release Information:
Digital
Special Features:
Four audio options:

LPCM: English 5.1 (Sourced from the DTS HD-MA 5.1 audio from both cuts)
LPCM: English 2.0 (Mixed down from the 5.1 track)
Dolby Digital+: English 5.1 (Converted from the LPCM 5.1 track)
Dolby Digital+: English 2.0 (Mixed down from the DD+ 5.1 track)
Cuts and Additions:
The Classroom Daydream Sequence from the end of the Home Video Cut has been seamlessly reintegrated into the Theatrical Cut to present a more complete version.

A Trip back when movies were carefree.
I have seen the Explorers multiple times when i was much younger, and i always liked it.
It was Goonies with Aliens and it had a Spielberg view on kids that i liked.

So many years have passed and revisiting this Movie in KJ´s cut was a blast.
If you know the Movie, watch it again in thjis edit. If you dont know it, but you have a thing for 80´s Pop Movies with Kids in extrem situations, Adventure, Friendship and squicky colorfull Aliens than try it.

The editing is flawless, i could not tell what was edited and when your in the movie, it flows, thge pacing is top notch.
The Video is expected to be a bit gritty at times, lets be reminded how old this movie is, but its not - it looks very good.
All in all: Great Fun to watch.
