The edit removes the bookends of the treasure hunt, this edit is purely 1912. It cuts down on the Rose/Jack name calling, and Jack egging Rose on so much. Him calling her stupid is removed. Some deleted scenes are added to add depth where Old Rose voice over has been removed, and there is a newly constructed ending.

This edit takes the episodes of AOS that dealt with the season's story arc and turns them into a single feature. This will be the first of a trilogy of films that cover the first season. The episodes covered in this edit are: The Pilot; The Girl In The Flower Dress; The Bridge; and The Magical Place.

Cuts are numerous throughout, but the main narrative change is that Captain Jack Sparrow no longer dies or needs rescuing from Davey Jones Locker. This one altered story beat removed the downing of the Pearl, Singapore, and the Locker itself. Along with other cuts to tone down some of the sillier moments, Heart of the Maelstrom has become a rip roaring ride across the Caribbean.

This cut does its best to drag the story back to Kal-El, a discovery, a threat, a solution. The rest is superfluous and has been jettisoned, or trimmed, as necessary. These cuts include less of the father figures, no genetic Kryptonians or 'first natural births', less Christ allegory, and a trim to some of the more excessive action beats.
