HI ALL

11 years ago I summitted this edit. it was FULL of technical issues, bad interlacing, frame rate stutter and more.

I am taking a break from UNAMED project coz I need some distance to the 70 minutes done. So I am rebuilding this which is long overdue since the original files are corrupt, it looked shit, and my skills and ripping tech have all improved. Should be quite quick to do. I need to do this at 720 from the DVD since the original ending is only avalable in SD. Upscales look poor and a 720p 60fps conversion imroves things enough without the original ending looking too different.

I have already completed the new opening titles using the same font capture I did for The Godfather, so they are clear and stable with no frame registration issues. The conversion tests are good, so the source material is now ready to edit. I may be done in a day or so, but I need this edit clean and someone asked for it. The DVD I burnt has an error which when you rip, the audio goes out of sync and the backups are all corrupt, so I could not recover the edit. Since it was a simple edit, I elect to rebuild.

Submission ASAP

For those of you that did get this way back then, a cleaner version is coming. Alas, doing this is HD would create an unaceptable drop in image quality at a crucial point in the movie, so hopefully at 720p 60 fps, it will at least look a tad better and consistent.
 
That was quick...6 hours or so...

COMPLETED !!!!

Spent most of the day on it but its done. Just rendering and converting, test on the TV and Submit it
 
Hmmm..now I remember why this looked do god-awful... The authoring on this disc is bizarre. I've ripped it using 4 different progs and there is alway this strobeing issue. I manage to do a native rip converted directly to 60fps which looks smooth on panning and plays well BUT when rendering the rdit, the results go back to not so good.

Still testing...

This is an awful DVD, but the final render is much better than the source frankly.

Rendering overnight and submission of the 2021 update to to this old edit tomorrow.

If only everything else I work on were so straightforward!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But then, where would the creativity and fun come from?
 
THIS HAS BEEN SUBMITTED.

Final version is 1080 upscale at 60fps, its far better than the original DVD, but obviously not thru HD, but an improvement on the flawed 2010 edit.
