As I'm looking forward to the upcoming version by Robert Eggers with Bill Skarsgård, Lily Rose-Depp and Willem Dafoe to name a few I recently rewatched the Herzog/Kinski version.
I still love this version but it was not as scary as I remember it.

I want to make my own version of this film and make the following changes.

- rescore it with a new original score as I will try to create a filmscore with Udio.
-there's a lot of silent parts and I will try to add more tension to some of the scenes.
-make the edit in black/white.
-make it faster paced (the journey to the castle is way to long)

I will soon upload a clip using my own score.

I’m happy to share some of what I did when I was working on this

Thanks @MusicEd921
Did you finish your version?
I remember I saw a post somewhere about a Nosferatu Edit but now I can’t find it.

In my version I will try to only use my own music
And some small parts of the original.
What did you use in your version?

Thanks @MusicEd921

I didn’t finish it unfortunately. Lost steam after getting bogged down by work.

I was rescoring using music from The Conjuring series of films. I made it to about when Harker awakens from his first bite after arriving at the castle. I was also dividing the movie into acts in the same way the original did.

Well that sort of thing happen from time to time!
Hope you find the steam to finish it.

I have no memory of the Conjuring soundtrack but my score will mostly be based on piano/cello/ small orchestra bits.
And so far I think It works really well.

I hope you will finish your version one day, it sounds like a nice idea.

Nice job on that clip. The music works really well for the most part, although I think you go too far after the thumb is cut. It's a bit too loud and overwhelms the dialogue. I like how you build it up and then it backs away when we cut to the first close shot of Dracula though. There is a small jump in the audio at 2:58 FYI.

Did you make any cuts or is it just rescoring?

Thanks for the feedback!
I will check on that music jump.
I will lower the music a bit.
The dialog must be heard.

There's no cut in this scene.
But there will be plenty of cuts during the film.

The running time will land on approx 75-80min.

Here is the new start of the film.

*added new credits
*added Castle shot (stock footage)
*added Nosferatu kind of monster in the rain (stock footage)
*added letter from Dracula (from the Jack Palance version 1974)
*added ceepy grandfather clock (stock footage)
*added sound of rain and thunder

I don't currently own the film and I have a backlog of edit watches/reviews I owe, so will have to pass for now. I'm sure I'll check it out eventually though :)

No worries! You're welcome back when you have the time and space for it. (y)

This is a brilliant edit in my book! Very fitting score, seems to add a lot of light to the film.

Is there a name for this edit?
This thread just lists the original title & the actual file says Nosferatu 2024-08-29.
The IFDb listing calls it the Monochromatic Version, but there's much more to this edit than a saturation adjustment.

I dunno, just seems like this deserves it's own title/branding.
Dawnrazor Edition is simple & sounds nice.
