This edit is already finished, just waiting for the great @"theryaney" to provide me some superb covers lol

My new edit takes a lot of inspiration from the phenomenal "Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" edit by @"Bobson Dugnutt"  and goes further with it, giving the movie my own spin (no pun intended). I wanted to emphasize Peter's strong character development that was left a little vauge for my tastes, and hopefully further moved Spidey away from Tony Stark's overbearing shadow and helped his journey with rediscovering who he is and becoming his own hero.

Change List:

  • Add “2012” date over Stark Tower
  • Replaced “8 Years Later” with “Present Day”
  • Replace “Hey everyone” with Tony saying “Nice job kid” from Civil War
  • Cut Tony’s “Skimpy Aunt May” joke
  • Added deleted scene where Liz tries to convince Peter not to leave the group. I think it hits home harder how Peter’s letting his friends down and lends well to the responsibility theme
  • Cut “How’s your Aunt” dialogue at Delmar’s
  • Cut Ned’s infatuated “A thing to do after...”
  • Cut “I larb you”
  • Cut waiter hitting on Aunt May
  • Cut Ned asking Peter several questions about his powers
  • Changed Peter's ringtone to a familiar funky tune :D
  • Change Ferris Bueller audio to actual audio from the movie
  • Change music of Iron Man saving Peter to Hulkbuster musical cue from Age of Ultron
  • Cut “Does this work?” And “I thought this was the Anti-Gravity gun” to make Toomes even more intimidating and someone who'll do anything to protect his family
  • Cut Ned’s “Awesome” after Peter says he was almost vaporized
  • Cut Ned’s “I just want to thank you for...” etc.
  • Cut both instances of “instant kill” This does kinda ruin its payoff in Endgame, but I never liked how Tony kinda gave a killing machine to a kid. Also that can easily be cut from a potential Endgame edit.
  • Cut Karen saying “You’ll have to create momentum.” Peter can (and should) figure this out on his own.
  • Cut Toomes saying “8” from “8 years and not a word from the feds” and added a Danny Elfman cue like Bobson Dugnutt did in his edit.
  • Cut Karen describing Aaron Davis’ age as 33. Since the movie has to take place in September 2016, Aaron Davis has to be 32.
  • Cut Karen saying Peter was “98% successful”
  • Rescored Iron Man saving the ferry with the Iron Man 3 Theme
  • Created new Uncle Ben flashback using the Civil War bedroom scene footage and Amazing Spider-Man 1 footage I replaced in my Extended Edition (Martin Sheen Uncle Ben. Not so unbelievable after the multiverse) with echoed dialogue from previous scenes, Spider-Man 1, and Civil War to hit home how the last time he didn't interfere with someone's business, he lost the person he loves most. The music I used is "Uncle Ben" from the Spider-Man 2 soundtrack. I always thought the "why" to Peter's responsibility (so basically his "need" to rediscover in contrast to his "want") was missing, or at least left very vague to the audience (except if you've seen past Spidey movies or at least Civil War, which you shouldn't be required to do--a film, especially the first in a new series, must stand on its own two feet).
  • Cut gum under the bus joke
  • Cut “I‘m looking at porn” gag. People seem to love this joke. I don’t.
  • Added Danny Elfman's "Responsibility Theme" (using "Final Confrontation" from SM1) over Peter being stuck under the rubble and seeing his mask and his reflection in the water.
  • Cut repeat of “If you’re nothing without this suit, then you shouldn’t have it.” We get it.
  • Elfman's "Responsibility Theme" (using "Train/Appreciation" from SM2) plays one final time when Happy finds Toomes tied in a web before the music transitions to Giacchino's Spider-Man theme.
  • Moved Toomes in prison to after Liz says goodbye to Peter
  • Cut Audi dashboard
  • Cut the whole “that was a test right?” exchange
  • Moved Tony/Pepper proposal scene to mid-credits
  • Replace credits song with the Ramones Spider-Man theme
  • Cut Gwyneth Paltrow from the animated credits
  • Replaced Captain America post credits scene with deleted Aaron Davis deleted scene. As much as I love the Cap scene it only works in the context of waiting in the theater for something meaningful, and that is lost when you can just skip to it with modern video players. I also prefer the Miles Morales reference much more.

To admins: I'm planning to submit this very soon but you can go ahead and archive my Return of the Jedi and X-Men threads as I don't intend to return to editing them very soon.

@"Masirimso17" , done. I've moved both threads to inactive.

You're not afraid of the age discrepancy between Aunt May and Uncle Ben?

Nah. Martin Sheen was 71 when shooting The Amazing Spider-Man and Marisa Tomei was 52 when shooting Homecoming. It's not unbelievable that two people with a twenty year age gap would fall in love and marry (perhaps she married him when she was 25 and he was 44, who knows).

Off topic but perhaps Charlie Sheen could be a cool Uncle Ben in the MCU if we ever saw him. His dad was Ben, plus he was up for Spider-Man years ago.

I'm mostly pretty stoked for this edit. Pretty much every change you made is for the better, especially removing some of the in your face stuff and some of the jokes. I do wish you'd kept the "larb" moment because it's cute and the "I'm watching porn" bit because it is funny, it's one of few convincing reasons -- especially to quickly give under pressure, and I'm unsure how the flow of the scene would go from there.. Even still, my major concern is the credits scenes. Miles has no pay off in the MCU whatsoever yet,
and Tony and Pepper getting engaged seems too inconsequential for a credits scene. That all said, I'm super excited to check this out. Please send me a link when it's ready :)

Edit: Also, can't wait to see how the new music and flashback work out.

Thank you! I don’t like the larb bit or the porn joke at all, they were one of the first things to go in fact. As for the credits, I felt Toomes in prison was important enough to be moved up, especially considering he protects Peter from Scorpion, or is he saving the kill for himself? I just like how it contributes to Toomes as a character and was worth moving up.

I moved Tony and Pepper because it felt disconnected from the movie, and having it be a mid credits scene was a good little extra scene that also ties into Infinity War well. I don’t think having it be consequential in the grand scheme of things mattered, as this is a smaller scale movie and we got a Sinister Six tease earlier.

And the Miles scene I just felt was a really cool reference worth replacing the Captain America scene. It doesn’t have to be paid off really, it was just a cool nod that said Miles existed in the MCU.

Bobson Dugnutt informed me of a pretty embarrasing issue with the edit, specifically some dead air after Uncle Ben's flashback. Must be a rendering issue because it wasn't there in any preview I did, and I can't believe I never noticed that  It's annoying to go back and re-render, reupload, redistribute, etc. but what are you gonna do...

Expect a v1.1 soon I suppose

EDIT: I deleted all the project files apparently so I will have to re-rip the source file and reconstruct the video :dodgy: and I don't have the Blu together with me atm so I'll probably finish it later when I'm back home :-/

Did you find any deleted scenes that you felt were the least bit worthy of inclusion in this edit?
