Unless Cawley could get permission from Paramount/CBS it would be unlikely the series could continue under the new guidelines.

Though previously filmed episodes would be exempt from the new rules, and could technically still be finished/released.

But these new guidelines are still very new and have yet to be tested.   Star Trek Continues seems confident that they will be able make some sort of agreement with CBS and at the very least film their series finale.   I guess only time will tell....
 
Yes, I agree that “Star Trek Continues” seems to be going toward a finale for the series. Well, as you said, only time will tell…

James Cawley is opening a fully CBS sanctioned/licenced STAR TREK FILM ACADEMY!!!!

In the wake of the AXANAR scandal and Fan Film Guidelines, is this CBS's way to win back disgruntled fans?

There are no real details yet, though it opens the door to hopeful speculation that maybe Cawley will return to his New Voyages project.  ;)

CONTINUES was good and I'm so glad they finally did that final episode but I have a great nostalgia for NV/PII - it made me care about the original crew.

It's a pity kept changing his vision (moving towards the movies, changing the ship new uniforms, PII engineering scrapped for 'i want it to be just like the shoq') then quit, there were incredible plans in mind!

Everyone talks about CON but New Voyages and Phase II was my gateway to the original show (though I loved the movies) I am a chiid of TNG (loving the hype for Picard btw amazing trailer!! :D )

Filmed way back in 2008ish, it was never finished and after the Guidelines dropped and Cawley signed his Set Tour deal with CBS, and we all assumed this would never be released in any form...

But here it is!  Still unfinished and the aspect ratio is slight off... but I don't care... this is AWESOME!  
2021 just got a lot better!  :)
