The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

As someone who admittedly liked the first season and was genuinely shocked at all the hate online (and a lot of hate from supposed Tolkien fans), I thought the second season was awesome! Looks great, acted great, and cool storylines like Celebrimbor/Sauron and Adar/Galadriel. I still don't understand why people are freaking out about what rights Amazon has vs doesn't have, as long as it's a well written story who cares! Peter Jackson took creative liberties and I think the ROP creators can too.

Just finished s2 and totally agree. Big step up from s1 IMO despite the fact that I liked that season. I’m admittedly not the biggest LotR mega fan but I’ve read the books and of course seen the movies. Even without much knowledge of the appendices or the Silmarlion, it’s obvious that much of the timelines are condensed. I could see that bothering some. Additionally it suffers from the things that all prequels suffer from, namely we know where the main characters end up so there isn’t much drama where they otherwise would be. But I think the show is a solid B+ overall with s2 being an A-. I’m very much looking forward to the next season, which IIRC is the final season.

Edit: I guess there will be five seasons.

It's been my assumption (based on no info) that this would take us up to a similar point as the PJ LotR prologue. When the ring goes into the river and then maybe a few flashes of the years in-between tRoP and LotR. They'd need 5 seasons to work up to that point.
