What you want is there. You can also send a message to the editor. If that doesn't work THEN post in the Trade & Request forum. Anywhere else and it will be deleted and an infraction will be issued.

Watching Fan Edits on Android

I only got 8gb SD so swings and roundabouts, plus I have to charge mine up EVERY night as battery life is shocking.

I almost wish I still had my K750i...

I wasn't saying it would be impossible, I'm saying it's pointless. Why would you want 720p on a 480p screen? Transcoding with handbrake is worth it to save your phone from the CPU equivalent of a panic attack, not to mention save disk space, etc.

I know I'm the iPhone outcast here, but Handbrake is a great program for converting a DVD into something more easily handled by a handheld device. Even if your processor can handle it, the file size savings are worth the time.

And I have put movies, both fanedits and regular on my phone for that very purpose, stuck in boring places where I'd really rather not talk to other people ;)

This ^ and this ^.

Just an update for anyone who cares, VLC Pro plus using Imgburn to convert the vob files to an iso seems to be working pretty well. It probably doesn't hurt that I upgraded my Droid X to a Galaxy S II Skyrocket. :-)

My Desire HD plays 720p video absolutely fine, a 1Gb CPU and 3/4 Gigabyte of Ram does quite a lot and using VLC Direct Pro I can watch AVI's, DVD's, ISO's and x264 perfectly.
As for VLC playing vobs, just drag the VIDEO_TS directory directly onto VLC and it will play correctly.
VLC D-Pro also transcodes the files so they are in an acceptable format for your phone.
I've got an DHD as well. So you just use VLC Direct Pro, and that's it? Cool, better look into this :-)
Last time I tried anything remotely related, I was watching Superman Restored on my DHD using Rockplayer.

Hi, all!

Earlier this week, I was trying to upload some videos, including fan edits, to my Android phone. Not the most ideal viewing platform, but sometimes it's nice to watch a bit of something in bed just before sleep with my headphones in.

I transferred several other video files I had - all MP4s - and they transferred and played on VLC just fine. However, whenever I tried to transfer a fan edit (also all MP4s), I got an error notification sound from the PC without any explanation as to what went wrong.

I double-checked, and I do have enough GB on my SD card to transfer over at least one file. I tried both the internal card and the added SD card, both of which had enough room, without success.

I restarted the PC and the phone, but still no change.

The files were saved on a 1 TB drive, so I transferred them to the PC in case the TB was the issue. The files still wouldn't transfer.

I feel like this must be an issue of correlation as opposed to causation - I can't imagine there's any reason why fan edits in and of themselves would be non-transferable. Nonetheless, since it's weirdly the only common denominator I can currently find, I thought I'd reach out to this community. Has anyone else had any trouble uploading fan edits to their Android, or MP4 files for any reason? If so, have you found any way around it?

Thanks in advance!

@TomH1138

What else do the files have in common? Perhaps the audio codec they use or just surround sound in general, are unsupported in your software?

Perhaps the 1TB drive is formatted as FAT32 in which case the amount of space doesn't matter if the file is over 4GB, it will be over the limit for the file system format.

Might not be either of these but both are worth checking.

Hmm, I didn't know about either of those things. I'll have to look into them. Thanks, Addie!
