Synopsis:
While on his quest towards Erebor with Thorin and his Company, Gandalf investigates the claims of an ancient horror that has resurrected.
Intention:
I love M4's Hobbit fanedit and the Maple Films "Durin's Folk and the Hill of Sorcery". However, they are not 100% compatible due to having different editors with differing visions. This would cause scenes to repeat and characters like Azog to exist in one film and not the other.

Because my favorite Hobbit edit is M4's, I decided to make my own companion film that would remain compatible with his edit.
Release Information:
Digital
Special Features:
The film is released at it's highest quality version in 4k HDR10 with 7.1 surround sound in English and 5.1 surround in Spanish.

Subtitles include: English, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish.
Editing Details:
I made sure to keep Azog out of the film, as he was used as an unnamed orc in the M4 edit. This meant I had to remove almost all flashbacks pertaining to the Battle of Moria, since they featured Azog. His is mentioned once by Thrain and his boot appears in a brief flashback pressing down on Thrain's arm.

By removing most flashbacks, I made the edit more Gandalf centric.
Cuts and Additions:
Because only 39 minutes of the extended trilogy remains, I am going to list what is left in order:

- Radagast meets some spiders and makes his way to Dol Guldur.
- Radagast finds Gandalf and the Company. He tells Gandalf about the Necromancer and gives him the Morgul blade.
- Gandalf tries to convince the White Council about the Necromancer's existance.
- Galadriel asks Gandalf why he brought Bilbo into the Company (this scene does not really add anything to the Necromancer storyline, but I just had to include it because it is character building for Gandalf).
- Beorn warns Gandalf about the Necromancer.
- Gandalf finds Black Speech inprinted at the Elven Gate.
- Gandalf travels to the High Fells of Rhudaur and meets Radagast in the tombs.
- Gandalf and Ragast go to Dol Guldur. Gandalf goes in by himself.
- Gandalf finds Thrain.
- Sauron traps both of them and kills Thrain.
- Galadriel saves Gandalf from an orc that's going to hurt Gandalf.
- Elrond and Saruman fight the Nazgul.
- Galadriel banishes Sauron to Mordor.

ThePotatoParadox crafts a unique take on the Hobbit trilogy, transforming it into a streamlined 39-minute narrative focused on Gandalf's journey to investigate the dark presence at Dol Guldur. By trimming out the majority of the main adventure plot and sidestepping Thorin’s Company’s battles, this edit focuses on the more mysterious, magical elements of Gandalf’s quest of investigating the shadow of Sauron and the reawakening of evil that threatens Middle-earth. Most flashbacks, especially those involving Azog and the Battle of Moria, are removed, giving this cut a stronger, more Gandalf-centric approach (alongside Radagast) that doesn’t take away from the dark intrigue of the Necromancer storyline.

Notable highlights include Radagast's eerie encounter with spiders, Gandalf’s discoveries in the High Fells, and the powerful final scenes where Galadriel, Elrond, and Saruman confront Sauron himself. By focusing on these key moments, the edit offers a concise, mystical narrative that feels more like a standalone prelude to The Lord of the Rings, with a sense of foreboding and rising darkness that sets the stage for the future War of the Ring. It's a fresh, atmospheric take on The Hobbit for fans intrigued by Middle-earth’s ancient mysteries. This edit really is a companion to M4's "The Hobbit" as ThePotatoParadox intended, well done and thank you.
