You will find this Review in Michaels Opus as well, as i have watched both of them, for 3 times now.

There is no point in me telling you, what Wraith did, in detail. What i want to share in short is this:
WRAITH´s Versions did something to me, they Reopened those Movies, that i have watched countless times.
triggered by my father (italian heritage) i was watching The Godfather 1&2 many times freom a young age.
Everytime, while i grew up, more and more opened up - i understood more of the meanings and feelings of the characters, and in the movementes of the older version of Don Vito, i saw my (than aged) dad.

I am emotional about these movies, since they have played a big part in my youth and still do.
The "new" Versions are the best i have ever seen. I experienced some scenes like never before.
Dialouge hit me more, cuts and sound and chronology are flawless.

I strongly recomend these versions to everyone that just feels a shrad love for the OG Cuts -

There is a broad consensus out there that the Godfather trilogy are masterpieces (mostly the first two). Can you really improve upon the experience? Well, I found out with this edit the answer is a resounding yes.

I have read great things about Wraith’s edits from these reviews. I was debating with myself whether to watch his extended editions of the movies or go with the Opus edits. After watching Don Vito’s Opus, I know I made the correct decision.

Watching the story of young Don Vito first really helped flesh out his character. Getting to know his tragic early life right away really enhances his character and makes him more relatable when we fast forward to him as a senior citizen. It really added value to the story, as in the movie we are told a few times that he softened in his older age. It flows more logically when we know what he was like as a young man. I was initially concerned with this placement as I liked the juxtaposition as flashbacks comparing young Vito to Michael in Godfather 2. However, I changed my mind and like this much better.

Nearly all the deleted scenes were nice additions that I believed really helped with character development. Getting to see a bit more of Michael’s early foolishness helps contrast with his change of heart to join the family business. I also liked seeing early on how Sonny was told to restrain himself from going after Connie’s husband.

From a narrative and enjoyment perspective, this is an obvious 10/10. I acknowledge that I am not the best qualified to actually rate anything about the edit itself as I do not have the eyes nor ears for that. Nonetheless, the edit appeared visually good and I did not notice any audio issues.

Great job on this edit. Anybody who wants a better Godfather experience must watch this. I will be moving on to the sequel. As I am pressed for time, it will take a few days to watch like it took with this one, but I am confident it will be worth the effort.

Grade A for effort and execution, but i would have structured the edits differently. Ending vitos opus with vitos death and beginning michaels with the funeral. Beside that, i understand the reason for wanting to include the deleted scenes, but there was also a reason why Coppola cut them out to improve the flow. Aftet seeing this i would prefer a chronological version without the extra scenes.
Still a job well done and interesting to watch for a longtime fan of the films.

Wraith is an artist, offering a perfect two-part Godfather Epic. The editing is flawless in terms of video and audio, and the choice to chronologically depict the Corleone family provided me with a narrative that I didn't know I needed. While I was never initially fond of Godfather Part II, reorganizing the plot into a direct sequence allowed me to appreciate the plot and find in more captivating. Vito's origin now serves as a bookend to Part III, where we see the Corleone family rise and fall in power. The original theatrical cuts are masterpieces in their own rights, and Wraith has optimized that experience.
