Editing Details:
18 deleted scenes were restored. Some new music was added and some scenes were rearranged to allow for the insertion of the scenes. Some minor bits of the theatrical were cut for the same reason. Some color correction was done to make everything match up nicely – it’s not perfect, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
Cuts and Additions:
- Added alternate opening
- Added Blonsky and Ross talking in the plane and to the general
- Added extended conversation between Blonsky and Ross
- Added Bruce talking to Stanley
- Added Leonard meeting Bruce
- Added extended conversation between Bruce and Betty
- Added dinner scene
- Added Betty showing Bruce the flower
- Added Betty and Leonard hugging in their bedroom
- Added Bruce talking to Leonard in the morning
- Added Bruce and Betty talking on the college campus
- Rearranged several scenes to accommodate the inserting of these scenes:
- Bruce and Betty talking after Bruce realizes his pulse rate is going up too high
- Extended scene of Ross watching the news
- Extended scene of Ross talking to the soldier
- Added conversation in the plane before Blonsky becomes Abomination
- Added extended conversation between Betty and Thunderbolt
- Added final phone conversation between Betty and Leonard

Overall this was enjoyable. My only complaint was that the audio was quite low on some of the deleted scenes. 8/10

(Note: Narrative = Improvement for EEs for me)

Quite often footage that gets left on the cutting room floor ends up there for a good reason. Having recently seen the Avengers deleted scenes, with the exception of maybe one or two of them, I would say those scenes are pretty poor and would possibly detract from the film should they all be put back in. Not so with The Incredible Hulk! The scenes that Quickcut has added back into this film really do improve the film.

It seemed like Lou Letterrier really wanted the core of this movie to be about Bruce and his struggles, rather than an endless display of Hulk outs. And this edit really demonstrates this. We get a lot more of Edward Norton's soul searching, and the reinstatement of the love triangle between Bruce, Betty, and Phil from Modern Family. These scenes really do add weight to the drama, and while they obviously slow the movie down (30 mins is quite a lot!), it was an improved experience overall.

I still think this is not a great film overall, but that has more to do with the visual aesthetic than the acting, story or effort by those involved. My major problem with this film is that it is just ugly. The movie chose to go with a grey/green color palate for obvious reasons, and this works to an extent. The early chase scenes have a gritty realism ala Bourne, but then the Hulk CGI really lets it down for me. Maybe they didn't have the budget to pull it off convincingly, but I really dislike the design of this Hulk (The Ruffalo Hulk is perfect IMO) and the CGI execution. Hulk and abomination are just so visually ugly, it's hard to enjoy watching them fight for 15 minutes at the end. Anyway...

Technically, this edit is pretty good. The image quality is not what it could (should?) be for DVD quality - it's quite grainy at times, and there was a consistent stuttering quality to the movement that was most evident during tracking shots, which looked perhaps like a frame rate issue? It wasn't too distracting though, and I was able to ignore it after a while and just enjoy the film.

Well done QC, you've improved on the original story, and made a film closer to what was probably originally intended for this movie before the studio got in the way.

the incredibale hulk maybe one of the more underrated comicbook movies, for some reason you get the feeling that marvel would rather you forget all about it. coming out the same year as iron man it may have been overshadow in terms of box office and critical acclaim but it's a great. it's the kind of film that i wish marvel studios would make as it doesn't rely on goofy characters and childish humour like some of their more recent efforts.

they have been many a rumour why norton didn't return to the character of bruce banner, one being that marvel wanted a leaner hulk movie given how the ang lee hulk was so poorly received. with the home release of the hulk you got to see the many scenes that could have fleshed out certain aspects that the film. most notably the love triangle between bruce, betty and her new boyfriend. this element worked really well with the extended cut and should have been included in the theatrical cut.

i also liked the new opening scene, watching it on it's own i was glad they left it out but inserted into the film it really works in showing just how low our hero has gotten. however i do feel they are many scenes within this edit that didn't work and slowed down the pacing of the film. the scene between bruce and betty at the uni, general ross speech and the scene between ross and Blonsky to name a few. these i felt really slowed down the film when it needed to moved a lot quicker. i'm really glad the stark scene was moved till the end, though it's a excellent scene it did for me steal the thunder from nortons performance.

unfortunately the scenes don't match in terms of colour tone which isn't a problem but they did look a little pixilated at times. also the audio was a lot lower making some scenes difficult to understand what was being said. overall at 140 mins i feel this is a little to long and could have done with a few certain scenes not to be included. but it's an enjoyable experience at seeing a longer hulk movie

The added scenes really flesh out the characters, and not just the green ones. Same amount of smash, more humanity.

QuickCut helps to bring back some of the pathos I remember from the TV series. Nice job.

1.The Incredible Hulk: Out of Control Cut is a HUGE imrovment over the original. Although it was significantly longer than the theatrical release, it is ultimately far more entertaining, thought provoking, and closer to the director’s original cut of the film.

Plot: The new scenes fill in small gaps in the story and improves characterization, pacing, and corrects numerous plot holes from the original. The deleted scenes also provide key exposition that helps the viewer understand the narrative far better.

Image Quality: Quickcut has done a nice job of cleaning up the deleted scenes. Although it’s not perfect, the quality didn’t detract too much from the edit. The rest of the film looked stellar as well.

Audio Quality: The deleted scene’s audio is near perfection. There are some minor hiccups, like the scene where Ross and Blonsy talk, but I am convinced Quickcut couldn’t have done anything about it. Overall, it sounded great!

Difference from the original: As stated above, the added scenes drastically alter the tone, characters, and pacing. The film was overall slower paced, but they enhance the film to new heights. It’s a wonder why the studio executives ordered these scenes cut in the first place, they were perfect!

Overall Presentation: The menus were quite simple, with a nice scene selection and artwork, plus Quickcut added a little music which I really liked!

Editing: Perfect! Everything flowed together seamlessly, and there were absolutely zero errors and minor distractions!

Entertainment: As stated above, the film is way longer and somewhat drags in the middle, but this is a much better film! I will definitely watch this edit again! Great work Quickcut!

Plot: 10/10
Audio Quality: 8/10
Image Quality: 9/10
Diference from the original: 8/10
Overall Presentation: 8/10
Editing: 10/10
Entertainment: 9/10

Overall, this rounds up to a total score of 9/10. Once again, Quickcut did an amazing job, and I can’t wait to see his upcoming edits!
