Synopsis:
A cop on the edge, losing those around him while trying to cling to hope that his missing friend will be found, and attempting to keep together a crumbling marriage, is thrust headfirst through THE DOOR!
The Jigsaw Anthology Series aims to cut the Saw films down to their most enthralling plots as characters are pushed to their limits and forced to play for life or death in a series of traps.
The Jigsaw Anthology Series aims to cut the Saw films down to their most enthralling plots as characters are pushed to their limits and forced to play for life or death in a series of traps.
Intention:
As with the other entries in the Jigsaw Anthology series, this edit aims to cut the film to focus on the traps, with every entry serving as a mini-sequel to the first film. This presents the film as a standalone story that can be watched in any order in relation to the other edits. The cop drama that tends to show up in many of this films, is all gone, leaving the film to focus on the game that Jigsaw sets up for the protagonists.

This one is a little different to the first 3, as I needed to change a lot more to make this work as a standalone thing.
Since the game in 4 is so interconnected to Saw 2-3, with returning characters and the film being similtanous with Saw 3. It's my least favourite film and the most non-sensical of them all for me.
This entry in the Jigsaw Anthology series now opens with Kerry's trap that I cut from Saw 3, as it's ultimately is more relevent here. Amanda is cut from that scene as she isn't seen as a Jigsaw apprentice.
Rigg watching Jill's interregation video is changed and re-edited so he is instead watching Kerry's Jigsaw video. The scene cuts early and Straum is only seen in the background.
From there it goes into Rigg's game, and follows him, cutting out Straum and his whole subplot. The odd transitions have been reworked too so that they don't happen. I hated those in the theatrical cut and it was hard to work around but I made it work.
The lawyer who is seen in the original opening with the sewn up eyes and mouth, is just seen as a pawn in this game, rather than carrying over from that.
Eric Matthews had a small cameo in Vol. 2 as Daniel's dad and is seen in a photo, but I think all that backstory isn't needed here beyond that he worked as a cop with Rigg.
The whole twist ending with Hoffman being in on it is cut too, as with some off-screen screaming taking from Saw 6 is used to imply he got electrocuted to death due to Rigg's failure.

NOTE: I understand the limitations of the footage available to you, and I have adjusted my reviews accordingly :) great job on this anthology!
Very interesting cut! A little more plot heavy than the first three entries, which is to its benefit I think. The only problem is the quick ending and not knowing if Hoffman is electrocuted. You can safely assume he was, since in this cut we don't know the twist ending, but maybe you could add a sound effect of him being shocked and dying to round out his part in the story.
This is another really fun one for me, great work! I really had a good time with these.
