Synopsis:
"Let's Do It For Johnny!" takes the extended cut of "The Outsiders" and replaces most of the 60s rock music with the background music from the theatrical release. This elevates the experience of watching "The Outsiders" so that you can watch it with its complete beginning, end, and a few scenes in the middle, and not be bombarded with off-tone music. However, I did keep the extended music to a few of the scenes where I felt it fit the tone, like Johnny's death scene, the ending scene, the sunset poem scene, and a few others.
Intention:
Way back when, I was in 8th English class and watched the theatrical release. It was strange to me how weird the beginning and end felt, especially since I'd read the book. I went home and found out that there was an extended cut. I watched the extended cut and was disappointed to find that the original music was changed to 60s rock music that didn't fit most of the scenes tone-wise. So, for fun, I created this edit. My English teacher (the cool guy he was) let me use it as a project, hehe. Now I've revised and fixed the edit a few times to create "Let's Do It For Johnny!"
Special Thanks:
Special thanks to ArtisDead for helping guide me through Fanedit.org which might be one of the most confusing roller coasters. It couldn't have breezed through all the forums, submissions, and subtleties so easily without ArtisDead. Also thanks to ArtisDead for creating the amazing poster for this fanedit of mine. And thank you to all those other users that have been helpful.

Editing Details:
My approach to this was to extract the audio of certain scenes from the original version and play it over the extended version's scenes. For extended scenes, I created sound effects and added them over the scenes. And if necessary, I extracted the dialogue from the music of the extended scenes. Then I added a sample from the theatrical soundtrack to the extended scenes.
Cuts and Additions:
-Every scene that has theatrical music replaced rock music.
-When Ponyboy gets mugged a sample of music from a different scene is placed when it gets more intense. I also remixed the sound effects for the scene.
-The shot of Bob's hand has been modified to show more focus on the rings and not the flask.
-The middle scenes kept their music because it fits there for the most part.
-I flipped the shot of Dying Dally so it made more continuity sense.
-The courtroom scene samples music from another scene to replace the music. The dialogue is stripped from the original music, and additional sound effects are included.
-When Soda runs away the original music is replaced with music from a different scene. Additional sound effects are added.

Really enjoyed it, been a couple of years since I saw it ("The Complete Novel" version) for the first and only time, but remember thinking then that certain choices of music didn't seem right, no such feelings with this. Looks and sounds good all around, nothing standing out to my eyes or ears!
