Fanedit Running Time:
95 minutes
Time Cut:
18 minutes
Synopsis:
The movie in chronological order, but this time as a real movie.
Intention:
The awesome film is already available in chronological order in the special edition dvd… except, its done as a dvd branching option. there were a lot of fades to black and the movie doesn’t flow like a movie. So it gets remixed.
Cuts and Additions:

Added transitions to smooth film.
A few trims here and there.

This is an old fanedit so video quality isn’t the best. But it really didn’t bother me. The editing was superb, if I hadn’t seen the original many times I wouldn’t have been able to tell where the cuts were. (I didn’t notice A/V sync issues but I wasn’t paying attention to that.)

As for the narrative, yeah it sucks in chronological order. But it’s an interesting way of rewatching it. I tried watching the Easter Egg chrono version on Disc 2 of the DVD but because of the bad branching options I never got all the way through it. I’m glad Jorge took the time to make this one.

Great idea and an interesting way of looking at the film. Not better than the original, but a nice take.

But, the video quality is terrible and the audio is slightly out of sync.

5/10 (8/10 were it not for the technical problems)

ok so the “chronological cut” of memento is a pretty fun experience. it doesn’t improve the film experience, but it IS a fun exercise in telling a decent story (which wasn’t solid enough to begin with, unfortunately).

i noticed the sound go out-of-sync, also. it was out of sync for a whole scene (when teddy meets lenny at the hotel iirc) but eventually was fixed with a scene change. also, the SAME shot of lenny taking a picture of the discount inn sign is repeated.
