Ian Fleming’s 007 gets a new lease of life in the form of newcomer George Lazenby, as Bond finds himself on a mission to Switzerland which could lead to the final capture of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the head of Spectre. Obtaining the information on Blofeld’s whereabouts however, comes at a cost, particularly when it derives from the head of a European Crime Syndicate, the daughter of whom, becomes part of a deal which will have unforeseen personal consequences for Bond.
Intention:
On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a bonafide classic within the 007 franchise. However, it doesn't mean the film is without its flaws, with the middle section of the film in-particular suffering from pacing problems which keeps Tracy, arguably the best Bond girl of them all (certainly the most important), away from the screen for far too long. The "LS" Cut attempts to fix these pacing problems, tightening the film's narrative in the process and also removing the blatant nods to the Connery era where possible.

- After Bond has stopped Tracy committing suicide, removed the shot of him gently slapping her face to bring her around. Seems more natural that she gradually comes around, especially as she's not unconscious anyway.
- Cut Bond breaking the fourth wall with his line "This never happened to the other fella"
- Inserted Louis Armstrong's "We have all the time in the world" over the start credits (,alternate audio track only - Barry's instrumental theme remains in the primary audio track)
- Trimmed the aftermath of Bond's fight with one of Draco's henchmen, removing the shot where his eyes roll upwards and he passes out. Also removed Bond talking to himself as he exits the room, commenting on the quality of the caviar.
- As Bond is taken to meet Draco, removed the janitor whistling the theme tune to Goldfinger.
- Removed Draco's dialogue "To dominate her... to make love to her enough to make her love him". It always seemed too over the top, even for a Bond film from the 60's.
- Trimmed scene of Bond packing up his desk as he contemplates retirement from the secret service. This is to remove too many blatant attempts at paying tribute to previous Bond movies. Music also replaced with Barry's score from OHMSS.
- Tracy and Bond fall in love montage, replaced Louis Armstrong's vocal "We Have all the time in the world" with Barry's instrumental version, sound effects added (,alternate audio track only - Armstrong's vocal version remains in the primary audio track)
- Streamlined scenes of Capmbell following Bond as he arrives in Switzerland
- Bond's helicopter journey to and subsequent arrival at Blofeld's research laboratory trimmed
- Replaced the "playful" instrumental version of "We Have all the time in the world" as Bond is searching his room for any survelience devices, with a more fitting and slightly tense piece by John Barry
- Substantially shortened the scene between Bond and the Angels of Death in the Alpine Room
- Cut Nancy waiting for Bond in his room. His seducing of Ruby is enough for this movie, particularly as he should really have Tracy on his mind ;)
- Cut Bond and the girls curling, and the scene between Blofeld and Bond. All we have now is Campbell trying to climb to the top of Piz Gloria, only to get caught by Blofeld's guards, albeit unseen (added music during Campbell's ascent)

OHMSS will never not feel like an outlier in the 007 canon for reasons beyond it being Lazenby's sole outing. The most classically tragic of the classic Bond films, the cliched recurring fan phrase about OHMSS has always been "it would be the perfect Bond movie if only Connery had been in it." While that may or may not be true (it's hard to picture Connery's blithe sociopath ever contemplating settling down), this edit is the next best thing, fixing many problematic moments/lines and tightening up the pace of the movie considerably, giving Diana Rigg's monumental turn as the ultimate Bond gal the showcase it deserves. LS' edit doesn't feel like a whole new movie, but it's a considerably better paced one, and a fitting addition to one's collection of Bond fan edits.

Watched with audio track maintaining original title theme and unchanged "We Have All the Time in the World".
Already one of my favourite Bond films despite its flaws, this edit on the whole is just a more polished product than the original theatrical release, the major exception of course being the ending music. No longer is the viewer suddenly jolted by the sudden appearance of the triumphant Bond theme over the shot of the bullet-holed windscreen, the sound now matches the visuals and maintains the mood of the ending.
Video and audio quality great, noticed no ugly cuts or errors. Definitely replaces the theatrical cut for me and would be the version I'd show to newcomers.

Watched this for the Christmas season (don't forget that Blofeld's scheme relies on the girls' X-mas presents) after putting it off for some time. I have always said OHMSS is my fav Bond film, so it was hard for me to believe an edit could improve it, but that's exactly what LastSurvivor has done.

Instead I'll focus on what LS has changed. While I do miss most everything that was cut, for the purpose of focusing the film more, they are all good, smart cuts. Honestly, LS probably doesn't go far enough. Several of the Bond sequences could be tightened up a little (like the lawyer's office or escaping the gearhouse) and his romancing the Angels could probably be cut even more. If the goal is to keep him focused on his great love, then including more references to him 'not being interested in women' and then cutting the actual Ruby seduction would be better. I also found the very opening with Q and M to serve no real purpose since Bond won't be using any gadgets and the plot has nothing to do with nuclear lint. Better if it could be cut.
But these are minor quibbles. Most every change here is for the better, including the audio substitutions. The one that I would argue against is making Louis Armstrong's track the title credit song. It's a slow, melancholy track, not at all fitting for starting a Bond adventure. It would be much better to run this vocal version over the end credits, especially after LS has played it several times without the vocals as the love theme. Its melancholy will then be fully "given voice" at the culmination of the film. But at the start, something a little more in line with the sultry women voicing Bond's previous themes would be better. If it's absolutely necessary to switch from the best Bond theme of all time, Barry's OHMSS, then how about his unused song for the film with "Nina" on vocals?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxp-zfMWvMw

It’s hard for me to judge these old Bond films. They suffer from the success of the franchise. Imitated and parodied endlessly; from Austin Powers to even Nolan movies, the tropes now seem completely cliche. That said, I do think this movie gets a bit of bad rap and certainly Lazenby does. It works best when it does its own thing. The relationship between Bond and Tracy works, in no short degree thanks to the chemistry between Lazenby and Rigg. And that is refreshing. The more serious side of Bond works. But it frustratingly seems to want it both ways. And the sillier Bondisms mostly fall flat. The screenplay itself is puzzling. Again, it seems to want to carry on with Bond as if there’s nothing different, but then it contradicts that often. The worst error is leaving Tracy out of the film for the bulk of the middle only to way-too-conveniently emerge for the last act. I admit I’m revisiting this one because we’re heading to the Jungfrau region and Lauterbrunnen valley next month. And that scenery was fantastic. Overall, I feel like I ended up liking this movie less than I remembered. But, as I said at the outset, I think that may be due in large part to the impact of the Bond series overall. It’s probably been more than 30 years since I last watched it.
Given that I don’t have much direct memory of the movie, I have a hard time comparing the edit to the theatrical. But I’ll say the editing was never noticeable for me so Last Survivor again did a terrific job both technically and narratively editing the film. Distractions are removed, we get back to the ultimate Bond girl faster, the narrative is tighter and more rewarding. The (enjoyable!) leisurely pace is retained. Lazenby comes into his own better than ever before.
Visual and sound editing are excellent. The one visual hiccup is a helicopter making a small jump on screen when they attack the mountain. And we get another editing masterclass with the audio commentary.

Quite simply put, the definitive version of this movie. It perfectly trims some of the excesses in the Piz Gloria sequences and the entire film zips along at a much quicker pace than the original. Highly recommended.

OHMSS is one of the best BOND MOvies ever made and i liked Lazenby in this Movie a lot.
I would watch more of him, but hey, that Era has passed and we are awaiting the New Bond.
There were always little things about this movie that made me cringe, that made me wish for a different edit way back when i did not know, that there is one.
I mean, its 2023 and this edit is from 2015.
Maybe no one even cares anymore what i have to write, and therefore i make it short.
This fanedit has removed all of the thinghs i did not like and is frm mow on my Standard when i want a great old Bond watch.
I thoroughly recommend this fanedit!

This was already a great 007 film but these edits have improved it further. Highly recommend.

Good movie. I like you cut the undercover part & the middle of the movie it was a little slow originally. Also the music title & song you change or play the same music is neat. It's good you took out the bad joke the other fella out. The guy in the race car derby they used upside down footage again, I noticed you took it off was nice. I liked you blow up the the picture and cut the dialogue when Bond was talking to Draco. That did not looked to easy to do. The audio, edit, Visual & commentary is great. I like the commentary when you explain what or how about the movie. I enjoy seeing it during the holidays since the movie is the holidays time. I recommend this movie. Keep up the good work.

I'm coming late to the party on this one, however, better late than never.
I am also one of those that has over the years has increasingly come to really like this Bond. In fact, it is in my top 5 for many reasons.
The removal of what today would be regarded as fan service or purile elements, elevates this outing and makes it the serious romp it should always have been. Those knowing "to camera" moments were excruciating then, and now just awful. GONE. More vitally IMO, the trims to some of the either overlong exchanges and chases, mean that nothing outstays its welcome and agredious elements are for the most part, consined to the fanediting cutting room virtual floor.
This is now a more balanced and refined Bond overall, and although we can never resolve the issue of Geroge Baker looping Lazenby's dialogue while undercover issue, I can't mark this down for that since it is inherent to the material...(are you reading this reviewers who do that....it's not fair or logical).
What LastSurvivor has done is pushed this into the top 3 for me. It is the go to version, and already burnt to BluRay and inserted into that big ol' Book like release for the 50th Anniversay (I hope the cardboard holds up).
