Synopsis:
Once Upon a Super Duper Deadpool 2 differs from the original source simply because it has two additional versions of the movie interwoven with it.
Intention:
Deadpool 2 ended up having three separate versions each with their own pros and some with massive cons. I always found myself watching the Super Duper cut because I absolutely loved the extended sauna fight scene in the beginning but I began to realize that I missed too many of the takes from the theatrical version. Checked out Once Upon to find out it was mostly garbage but did have a handful of bits between Deadpool and Fred Savage that I dug. Rather than sitting through that movie or even the Super Duper cut, I decided to take what I thought were the best takes from all three. The skeleton of this edit is the theatrical version but there have definitely been a lot of adjustments made to it.

Editing Details:
I will say that keeping track of how much time was cut vs how much was added proved to be a bit trickier than I had thought. Definitely more so than any of my other edits. The movie itself is 10 minutes longer than the theatrical cut but that's not to say I just added 10 minutes. Overall you're probably looking at about 20 minutes worth of differences from the initial cut give or take.
Cuts and Additions:
OU= Once Upon, SD= Super Duper

1. The cut opens with the intro to Once Upon a Deadpool, showing the bedroom scene and introducing Fred Savage.
2. Used the "I thought this was an anal bleaching party" line for his first battle.
3. Used extended sauna fight from the SD cut.
4. Added but trimmed scene from OU talking about "love" and "marvel licensed by fox." Took Deadpool's offended gasp from a later scene to use here.
5. Ashes by Celine Dion has been completely eliminated from the opening credits and the heaven scenes.
6. Opening credits rescored with "Dream On" by Post Modern Jukebox to still give the credits a Bond opening feel.
7. Trimmed Weasel's civil war wound insult.
8. Trimmed Buck consoling DP.
9. Cut Blind Al's unnecessarily harsh "pity dick" line.
10. Added multiple ways DP tries to kill himself from the SD cut.
11. "Who lives here? Calista Flockhart?" take from the SD cut used while DP is in the wheelchair.
12. DP kitchen scene from the SD cut added.
13. Negasonic's reaction to being flicked off from the OU cut is used.
14. Fixed audio sync issues when DP breaks the cerebro helmet.
15. Dialogue from both the theatrical cut and SD cut used for when they arrive at the icebox.
16. Cut DP's "steaming pile of foreshadowing" line.
17. Cut weird noise DP makes before firing Cable's gun.
18. DP vs. Cable fight in the icebox from the SD cut is used.
19. Cut Weasel berating Dopinder when they are discussing forming a team.
20. Due to the slow motion version of "Tomorrow" from Annie being cut from a later scene, all references of it are eliminated from Cable's flashbacks.
21. Trimmed Cable looking at himself in the mirror.
22. Cut DP line defending Canada.
23. Trimmed Domino introduction.
24. Used trimmed version of Peter's intro from the SD cut.
25. Shatterstar's death from the SD cut used.
26. Used a very shortened version of the "was that Brad Pitt?" scene from OU.
27. Cut Domino's reaction after DP mentions the strong winds.
28. Take from SD cut used when DP is being shot numerous times by Cable.
29. Cut Russell pulling invisible rope to leave.
30. Cut DP Basic Instinct gag.
31. Added DP "prostate assisted orgasm" line from SD cut.
32. DP reaction from SD cut used when Cable's explains the burnt teddy bear.
33. "Get Back" by Ludacris used for when the team is running into action.
34. Extended Domino running from Juggernaut scene used.
35. Elimated Domino saying "wheeee" when catapulted off the see saw.
36. Extended Colossus picking up DP scene used but trimmed and rescored with "Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper.
37. Cut Russell's "good to be a gangster" line.
38. Cut DP's "been inside you" analogy line to Russell.
39. Rescored DP and Cable running towards Russell in slow mo with "Requiem in D Minor" from 28 Days Later.
40. Dramatic music abruptly stops when DP asks if they got that in slow mo.
41. DP's goodbyes from the SD cut used.
42. Cut DP telling Russell he's giving him the suit.
43. Added trimmed version of Fred Savage getting emotional from OU.
44. Used Vanessa's answer from the SD cut for when DP tells her not to fuck Elvis.
45. Added scene talking about post credits scenes from OU.
46. Used extended time travel revisions from SD cut.
47. Added Dp cutting Fred Savage loose from OU.

My first thought after watching this was that I needed to go watch both the Super Dooper cut and the Once Upon... cut so that I could feel how they worked differently than this. ....but who has the time? So instead I went to Movie-Censorship.com, my go-to site for comparing different releases of films since it tells you exact lines and provides screenshots with time stamps. By referencing all three cuts of the film, I can be sure when I say...

...this is the best version of Deadpool 2 available, bar none.

Debatables: individual jokes, music choices, Fred Savage exclusions.

Unquestionable: overall tone, action/comedy balance, runtime.

I'd say this is the maximum of everything you'd want in this film without it starting to feel slightly bloated. Personally, I might want a bit more of the Fred Savage stuff, as I think he and Reynolds are good together and I'm a huge Princess Bride fan. But I can't deny that this kind of film starts quickly getting less effective once it's over 2 hours, so more Savage feels like we'd have to cut something else. Less Colossus flirtation? Shorter death scene? I dunno, it's probably down to individual choice.

What's here is masterfully edited and carefully cultivated from all the material available. I especially appreciated the tendency to not just go for everything in the Super Dooper cut because it was harder-R and more "Extreme!" Some of the jokes could lean into the juvenile edgelord humor a bit much, and so it was nice to step it back sometimes and just go with stuff in the Theatrical Cut that didn't need changing. On the other hand, the extra action and brutality was very much appreciated.

The one thing that I think felt a bit off was the choice of the Ludacris song replacement for when the final “team” starts running into action. Feels like a DMX song would’ve been consistent maybe, but this wasn’t quite there. Other than that, this edit was firing on all cylinders and I was totally here for it. This is easily a shelf-replacer. (Full thoughts on the film itself here- https://boxd.it/6YTZgR )

The best material of the theatrical and super duper cuts, alongside a few bits of the PG 13 version all combined seamlessly together; from now on this is my definitive version of Deadpool 2.

Excellent job, Ryantology

Honestly, in preparation for D3 they should release this cut. It bothered me they made so many releases and they were always taking. Normally, the Fred Savage takes would be disruptive in the middle of the X-Force death scenes it works here because we have seen it. It's just so much more Deadpool and it doesn't suffer from the PG-13 edits.

Great little combination of the three existing cuts into a super-sized version of the film

such an amazing edit. this is my definitive version of the film, because the fred savage stuff just dials up the overall funny factor of the film up to 11, while also working as an excellent princess bride parody. i also enjoyed much of the extended action bits, and wade finding multiple ways to kill himself.

i support every single music change, as i believe they elevate the film greatly. i especially love “Time After Time” playing when colossus rescues wade at the end, as napoleon dynamite is another film that i love dearly, and the music change is most beneficial in that scene.

2 things i really really want and that i believe should be considered:

1. as some other reviewers have pointed out, the scout master kevin joke is missing from this version which i have to admit disappointed me, because in my opinion that line as a standalone is the funniest one-liner in the film. if it is technically possible for you edit that line back in amid the super duper action, that would be amazing.

2. i believe you should add back in vanessa’s line to wade telling him “don’t f*ck colossus”, because it is funny and was already set up in different moments throughout the film. i prefer this line to vanessa saying “too late”, but if there is a way to have both the theatrical and super duper lines from vanessa, that would be the ideal version of the scene in my opinion

all in all, this was an amazing viewing experience. if those two things were added back in, i would literally have zero reason to go back to the original version, because this is the definitive and most enjoyable version of deadpool 2. i highly recommend it

By far the absolute best version of Deadpool 2, hands down. In fact, I consider this the definitive version of the film. The edits are absolutely seamless and the audio/visual quality is excellent. Time and again, each decision that Ryantology maked enhances the film. Whether you've seen Deadpool 2 before or not, this is the way to watch it.
