Synopsis:
Prometheus SE cuts out a lot of the unnecessary humor, dialog and scene's, building stronger, smarter characters. Removing many plot holes with the story and just general things that have issues. Such as Fifield getting lost in the structure, running in a straight line away from a rolling space craft. Deleted scene's or certain shots from the deleted footage was re-integrated back into the movie by either using several shots to change certain scene's or by adding a whole new scene to the film. All new material was color corrected, scored, sfx added and leveled to appropriate audio levels.
Intention:
To create a better more intelligent version of the movie, with stronger characters, less humor, less plot holes, and more in the heart of Alien.

The original Prometheus from 2012 was really hit and miss for me... Some scenes were great, just to be followed with unbearable dragged-out sections.
Here the narrative is improved a lot! It makes sense, the flow is never interrupted, it grips you and never lets go. The film doesn't became perfect but it looks as close as it can get
Many thanks to Agent 9 for all the work!
As other reviewers have said before, some of the deleted scenes that were added here (with otherwise great editing work) have some issues with the audio mix. But that's likely because of the source material, and Agent 9 did the possible best with it

I'm one of the people who actually liked Prometheus when it came out, although I certainly wasn't blind to its flaws. The story was told in a very convoluted way, but my main issues have always lain with the lack of character development. Anything else that gets fixed is a bonus.
Visual/audio quality - Visual was good, audio was mixed. Deleted scenes, although well integrated visually, were often noticeably lower audio quality, and sometimes when the volume ramped up it felt like the mix was struggling to breathe.
Audio during the Ted Talk, specifically, was phasery - particularly during applause.
Visual editing was fine. I didn't notice a single (visual) cut.
Audio editing was mixed. One cut was jarring, most of the rest of my qualms were with the rescoring. All of the soundtrack references from other films were noticeable and distracting. Although it's a nice idea, I don't think it worked. The score would often fight for dominance over the dialogue as well, which isn't ideal.
"ok then, on with the show" - felt too sudden, having had dialogue removed prior to it. The removal of "never had to follow a dead guy" was a bit awkward as well.
Narrative - I watched this with a friend who'd seen the theatrical before and found the story confusing. He felt the edit made things much easier to grasp, and I would agree. The story flows better and some character motivations make more sense. Pacing also benefited.
Some of the tiny cuts, particularly towards the beginning, I wasn't a fan of. They felt awkward and robbed characters of little chunks of development. Some examples:
Fifield's "I'm outta here" was rushed and random. No follow up from the other characters. He just leaves without anyone batting an eyelid. I get people don't like his tantrum, but that's his character. Better a bad character that makes sense, than an underdeveloped one whose actions are unclear.
Deleted scene with the captain in blondies quarters (post-flamethrower murder) makes little sense since them sleeping together was cut. The last thing between them was him asking her if she was a robot. If they had slept together then there would be a degree of intamacy and her letting him into her personal space would be more believable.
On a positive note, I thought the running in a straight line was very well handled. It never bothered me before as I thought the shot was cool, but the new sequence worked really well and was more logical. I was also happy to see the extended final fight with the engineer make it in.
Overall, a good edit, but I would still watch the theatrical over this, chiefly because there was a lot that took me out of the film audio-wise. This was mostly on the right track though and I intend on checking our other edits that tackle similar aspects of the film.

I thought this was a great fanfix. The original was a big disappointment and this improves on it immensely. Can't say much without repeating all the other reviews. There were a couple of scenes that could have used more work where the added score drowned out the dialogue and it would have been nice to have 5.1 audio, but other than that it was excellent. Well done Agent 9. Highly recommended.

I like the theatrical cut of Prometheus just fine, but I like this one a whole lot more. Agent 9 has made some fantastic choices on when/how to cut a bunch of these scenes to mitigate the glaring flaws in the film's muddled and occasionally illogical and even lazy script. Most of them work flawlessly. I did feel like Fifield and Millburn got cheated out of their characters a bit in this version, having most of their lines cut. Granted, much of their dialogue wasn't that great to begin with, but now I have no idea who these people are, really. At the very least, the scene where they break from the rest of the exploratory party seemed needlessly truncated, with Fifield saying "I'm out of here" and taking Millburn along without a word from either him or the rest of the team. Many of the other characters benefit from added depth and more clearly-defined motivations though, thanks to some wisely reincorporated deleted footage.
There is some stunning editing on display here, major things like rearranging scenes for better flow, as well as really subtle stuff like touching up unfinished SFX and adding sound cues to enhance atmosphere and cover edits. The color correction, likewise, is gorgeous. Mostly, I was on board with the extra music, although the selection does lean pretty hard on the original Alien theme and the volume is overwhelming in several spots. I watched the 3D blu-ray, and the picture was generally terrific, barring the few deleted scenes that required post-converting. The drop in quality is noticeable to the point of distraction, but I appreciate the effort to clean these scenes up and convert them to 3D in the first place. The film is better for having them included.
Also, the entire disc is in side-by-side stereoscopic format, so it can be played on that 3D setting without having to burn to a disc, provided you have a way to mount the ISO. ;)
In conclusion, if you hated Prometheus, this probably won't change your mind. However, if, like me, you find it to be an enjoyable but deeply flawed film, give this edit a shot. It fixes many of the problems, and it carries a slightly stronger "Alien" vibe.

There's not much more I can say that hasn't already been said. It's a solid edit that greatly improves upon the theatrical release. Characters behave less silly, the mystery preserved, and a tighter thriller simply through reorganization.
I did knock a point off the visual editing since there was a brief moment when the Adobe Media Offline image popped up. It was only 12 frames or so, but something that should have been caught prior to final build. There may also have been a couple black frames between scenes, but I watched the BR converted to MP4 on my TiVo so it's possible something in the conversion and/or transcode caused those. In my albeit quick scan of the MP4 on my computer I couldn't spot those, so I'm going to go with a transcode problem. I'll update if I encounter the problem on a closer inspection of the file. That said, I don't feel right knocking points off until I can confirm it wasn't something on my end.
In the end this is a very good edit, one that you should consider watching. It definitely improves Prometheus and makes it a much more enjoyable film.

A great alternative cut to a much maligned movie. Not a replacement for the movie in my eyes, but a more than enjoyable remix. On technical merits, to echo other's sentiments, there's some problems with the audio mixing and quality in parts, but the editing is top notch. Narratively it flows well enough, but does feel rushed compared to the theatrical cut. I don't agree with the decision to include the TED Talk as the opener, but neither do I like the theatrical cut's opening, so I'm not really sure where to start the film without aping Alien too much and just starting with the pans over the ship. All in all, very glad I watched and thanks to the magnificent Vera Drew (The People's Joker) for the recommendation.

This is one of my favourite kinds of edits. Taking all available material, and reconstructing it to fix pacing issues, and enhance narrative. This is essentially the same film that released in 2012, but with a much stronger edit that focuses more on suspense, mystery and world building.
The way the Engineers were handled in this edit reminded me a lot of "Aliens: No Hope Edition" by Bobson Dugnutt. A relatively small change that retains some mystery and intrigue. The less is more approach. That combined with the deleted scenes, makes this the definitive version for me, and a much finer edition to the Alien franchise than the theatrical cut.

A solid edit and clear improvement from the theatrical cut of Prometheus. Very tightly edited and runs quite quickly through the main story. Where many other Prometheus edits will use the supplemental material to introduce the characters before they wake up in space, this edit skips all of that, as well as the opening scenes of the Engineer and the discovery of the ancient cave painting.
Here we are thrust immediately into the plot. Honestly, while I quite enjoy some of that supplemental material, I found this abridged opening to be more effective and reminiscent of the opening to the original Alien.
However, as a few others have pointed out, sometimes the narrative is a bit rushed. While many of the cuts throughout are totally seamless, I think it could use a few minutes to breath and allow the tension to build a bit more.
My only gripe from a technical standpoint is that there are a few scenes with added music in which the audio levels overpower some of the dialog. I probably wouldn't have noticed it, but I had just watched the theatrical cut the day prior, so the additional music stood out.
Overall, a very solid edit. Still an improvement from the theatrical cut!

What a pleasant surprise indeed.
I have not watch the original since it came out despite owning it.
I must say, that this was breath of fresh air and pplays extraordinary well. The trims and additions are well judged and seamless. Full marks there. The narrative does feel a touch rushed in a few places but the original would have score a 7 for Narrative and Enjoyment, so both get a big upgrade from me.
I then skimmed through the original... and biy I had forgotten about some of the needles exposition and back story that this edit wise ditches. IN fact, those lements always felt contrived and this edit is better off without them.
Excellent and HIghly Recommended.
