I have watched numerous ROTS edits over the years Stankpac, L8WRTR and Q2's being my go to versions, however, not one of those have fully connected with me - a combination of all those mentioned edits plus the new FX of Hal9000's would be the pièce de résistance....and well we almost had it with Dominic Cobb's ROTS. Of course i am watching the edit subjectively.
This edit really kicks in from the moment Padme announces her pregnancy. There are subtle moments before this scene like the banter between Obi Wan and Anakin and the decapitation of Dooku that are top notch but you still can't get beyond the hammy acting and bad dialogue in some of those early scenes and this is something no faneditor can fix.
What really is the triumph of this edit is the gradual turn of Anakin...its just more believable..the darkness slowly burns inside of him over a longer period of time and you know you are on to a winning formula when you (the viewer) find yourself so engrossed in Anakin's turmoil . My main bugbear of the theatrical is the almost instant turn towards the dark (I personally would have had Anakin gradually toying with the concept of turning back in Episode 2 and have his dreams and paranoia tormenting him over a couple of films but hey lets not go into that here)
The new grade and musical cues are spot on and are not even something that entered my mind in my imaginary perfect ROTS edit. Let's call them an added bonus
Personally i would trim a few instances of dialogue and would also insert the Other Boleyn Girl scene back into the fold as i am an OT kid and Padme doesn't die in my world but other than that this is the gold medal winner of ROTS edits. Now i'm off to scrounge a higher GB file off Dom (If he has one) so i can watch this sucker on my projector.

Thanks for the kind words. Just the 10gb file (11.20 Mbit/s) at the moment but there will be other options down the road, so keep a lookout. Glad you enjoyed it!

DominicCobb's edit of Revenge of the Sith is my go cut for episode 3. The pacing is greatly improved by rearranging certain scenes. The color correcting makes this film feel more like the OT, along with some classic OT scores. What I enjoyed watching was his new version of order 66 and Anakin storming the Jedi temple. I really enjoyed that and stood out to me in a positive way. It is more clear now that Palpatine is turning Anakin against the Jedi and even Padme. The deleted scenes added by Dom really help ROTS and make it clear that the Jedi are onto Palpatine. Overall, DominicCobb's edit of Revenge of the Sith is a new and entertaining way the watch episode 3.

DominicCobb's Revenge of the Sith edit is an excellent breath of fresh air, somehow, for a movie with well over 20 entries on the IFDb, The big and unique selling points are probably the color grade (ROTS has never looked better) and the re-scores (using OT/R1/unused ROTS stuff) and they really are quite spectacular, rest asssured, But there's an even bigger draw for me here, and that's the second act's structure.

My friends, Dom cracked the code.

The biggest issue I always have with ROTS edits - be it IFDb listed ones such as Hal9000's or L8wrtr's, or others such as NFBisms' - is that they shuffle things around in that middle there, either fundamentally altering story beats (Hal) or just going about it in such a way I find outright worse than what Lucas and co. came up with in '05. It took a long ass time (much longer than it did for AOTC) but Dom here finally presents something that doesn't take away from either the political motivation OR from the emotional motivation for Anakin's turn, instead really significantly enhancing both. They complement each other more naturally and it really accomplishes something I thought was impossible - to make Anakin's character better.

I love the original movie and could watch it any day of the week, and for that reason I'd given up on fan edits of it after none of the big or small ones did it for me. But Dom's here, for the most part, does. I won't say I agree with every cut but I get the reasoning behind all of them, and they're all sound. Dom's edit is a true step forward in ROTS fan editing and hopefully is already part of the canon of quintessential viewings for ROTS editors, SW fans, PT fans, or fan editing fans. Really great work. Definitely recommend.
