Synopsis:
The 1978 Edit really aims to take Rob Zombie's Halloween and make it closer in tone to its predecessor. The entire white trash family angle is gone, Michael never speaks as a child, and both the gore and language have really been toned down. The pacing is very lean and tight. Almost the entire movie has been rescored with a lot of music coming from the soundtrack to Halloween 2018.
Intention:
I remember how excited I was to see Halloween 2007 in theaters. The trailers looked incredible and I loved the look of the mask. 10 minutes in, I almost walked out. I'd never been so let down by a Halloween movie and we're talking about a series that has Halloween: Resurrection. My original goal to doing Halloween edits was to take movies in the series I absolutely hated watching and fashion versions of them I could actually enjoy. I don't want to limit the number of Halloween sequels I can throw on on a rainy day. Hopefully other Halloween fans out there can do the same!
Other Sources:
Music from Halloween (1978 and 2018) as well as Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers.

Wow!
I hadn't read the list of changes before I watched this cut, and I hadn't seen the "original" (ie, the non-fanedited Rob Zombie remake) in quite a few years. I couldn't remember much of it, other than remembering that it was really rude and disgusting in terms of trashy characters and excessive gore.

So when I watched this fanedit, my mind was pretty fresh and I had no idea what the faneditor (Ryantology) had done. I just thought, hey, it's amazing what a few small changes can do, and maybe Rob Zombie's version wasn't really as bad as I had thought!

But now looking at the page here, with the list of changes and the amount of time cut, I can see that in fact Ryantology is hugely responsible for the vast improvement. 38 minutes removed and it's absolutely seamless! I couldn't even tell that those title cards were new! And that montage of Loomis narrating Michael's time in the psych ward??? I never would have guessed that was fanedited!!! And a massive amount of music changed/added, again done absolutely seamlessly.

So yeah, I am just amazed that such a horrible movie could be made into such a good one by fanediting! Ryantology rules!!!

A massive improvement upon the original movie. This will be my go-to version from now on.

This was a great edit. The cuts were seamless, the story unfolded well and the pacing made sense. I like the new opening of the film. My favorite aspect of this edit was the addition and changes of music. Music was used from a few different past Halloween films. This was one of my favorite fanedit experiences so far. My only negative comment, which isn’t anything the editor necessarily did, was that it really put in your face all of the times Zombie copied dialogue from the original or remade certain scenes almost identical to the original, which I wasn’t a fan of him doing especially since other aspects of the remake tried to be so different. But when the goal of your edit is to be similar to the playout of the original 1978 film, naturally those scenes will stay in, so I dont necessarily see that as a flaw of the edit. Overall this is worth the watch and I highly recommend checking it out.

Always wanted to love the Rob Zombie Halloweens but they always lacked that magic of the original two. After watching this edit I realize that behind the overly gratuitous violence and the totally unnecessary attempts at humanizing of Michael played a big part in that magic getting lost. Couple those fixes with the truly awesome score from the 2018 movie and I believe I've found my new defintive RZ Halloween movie!
