Redlettermedia have made quite a name for themselves over the years...especially in the wake of ever growing criticism of the Star Wars brand, so it's interesting to take a look at some of their earlier work with the TNG Star Trek movies, four very flawed films which seemed to delight in deconstructing everything grand about the Next Generation tv series in favor of Hollywood action shlock.

Redlettermedia, via character critic "Mr. Plinkett", a man who thinks these movies are the biggest disappointment since his son, examines the movies in a darkly subversive comedic fashion, which aligns with just how bleak and depressing most of the TNG movies are.

Not even the most light hearted of them, Insurrection, is spared as it's special effects are compared to that of Babylon 5, it's cheap locations and fashions given a pecking, and there's an erection joke aimed at Picard's youthful exuberance on the planet. Of all the reviews, the ones with the most energy put into taking them apart are First Contact and Insurrection...and they are by far the most fun. By the time we get to Nemesis, you're as depressed as Plinkett is and you''re left reflecting on just bleak Trek movies have mostly been since then

I watched this recently after checking out RedLetterMedia's Indiana Jones edit. These guys are incredibly funny, and I was surprised to see these packages here on FE (I believe they were packaged from the original Youtube by ?boon23), but the show is great. It deconstructs all the TNG movies and show you how bad they actually were when compared to the tv show. I myself hadn't seen First Contact or Nemesis in a while but this breakdown reminded me why. The subplot where "Mr Plinkett" our narrator supposedly killed his wife is also hilarious. Certainly his demeanour and tone is offputting but he nails every point, and you can be assured this guy is a hardcore ST fan to point out the details he does. Great review, worth it for any TNG fan

I too was interested in seeing the author’s Star Trek reviews after seeing them mentioned in the Star Wars Phantom Menace review. To be fair, these should be watched in the order the author created them, getting better and better with each review. The Generations review was posted on youtube more then a year ago and his latest is Star Wars PM, released 1 month ago (at the time of this posting) and already has more then 1 million views. The release of the Star Trek reviews followed their film debut- Generations, First Contact, Insurrection, and Nemesis. If you love film and analyzing them, you should enjoy these. Lucky for us the author has apparently been contacted by many web sites asking for new reviews and he also has a Star Wars Episode II one in the works.

Funny thing is the reviewer does not consider himself as anything more then a casual movie viewer. I wish him all success he has really created hours of fun entertainment- much more enjoyable then the original source materal.
