Synopsis:
Star Wars: Abridged is meant to tell the Skywalker saga as succinctly as possible, taking all nine films and cutting them down to three. While many narrative threads remain the same, some have been vastly altered.
Intention:
The Skywalker saga is now told over nine films and I wanted to trim that down as much as possible to create a narrative that can be watched in a single day. Narrative choices have been made to remove what I believe didn't work or created new narratives that I think work better. Most of the side quests and subplots that don't really add to the main plot have also been removed.

Editing Details:
Star Wars: Abridged II - The Rebellion has reworked a lot of the details from the original trilogy so it plays as a single epic film. The amount of changes and trims are too numerous to count so here's a broad overview of all the changes:

• Cold open which truncates the battle of Scarif
• New scroll text to say “Abridged II: The Rebellion”
• Inserted the scene from Rogue One between Krenic and Tarkin overseeing construction of the Death Star and tried to keep all of it from being visible because…
• There’s only 1 Death Star and that’s the uncompleted one from RotJ. It’s still being built throughout this edit. Consequently…
• Alderaan isn’t destroyed. Tarkin, in command of a Super Star Destroyer, bombards the planet from orbit
• The rebel base is located on Hoth, not Yavin, which is where we transition into ESB
• The Wampa sequence is removed entirely
• The Battle of Hoth has been completely changed. Luke is no longer a part of the snowspeeder battle (which still takes place) but, rather, part of a space battle happening in orbit around Hoth. This new space battle was created using footage from the battle of Yavin, battle of Scarif, and a small bit from battle of Endor
• Luke hears Obi Wan telling him to go to Dagobah while in the cockpit
• At the same time, Vader feels the force in him from the bridge of a Star Destroyer (the force is strong with this one)
• The asteroid chase sequence has been removed (more about why later)
• Bespin has been re-edited so that Han escapes with Leia and the rest
• No Jabba side story
• Footage from Luke healing from his Wampa adventure is now a post Vader duel scene set on a starship at the Sollust system rendezvous with the fleet
• The Han/Leia kiss happens here instead as they’re repairing the Falcon in Home One’s hangerbay
• Luke leaves the fleet to go back to Dagobah
• The battle plan for taking out the Death Star don’t include the ground battle
• Han pilots the Falcon in the final battle at Endor and takes out the Death Star. The footage from the asteroid chase has been repurposed here
• A new ending has been put together using footage from Rise of Skywalker

Ok, right off the start, I wish I could give a score for creativity, cause it would be a 10.
Honestly!

I loved the choice of starting with *spoiler* Rogue One, but it got really interested in the story at the first shot of the Death Star II. I don't want to spoil much, but I absolutely loved how you stretched ANH's story over three movies and interweaved Darth Vader's and Luke's journeys. Really great!
This edit gave me the feeling you went all out to create your visions. It's really well done.
There are a few continuity errors (which can be expected) , but I happely excepted them as part of the story and therefore didn't pulled me out of the moment.

Visually the edit is as good as the originals come
The audio is great and edited really well.
There were a few moments I noticed where the music was edited, but that's OK.

I loved it.

This is a really good condensed edit of the original trilogy, the new narrative works for the most part, and the editing is really good throughout. There were a few times where the cuts weren’t completely clean, as in a few times there’s a split second of a clip before moving to the next one, and I think those could be cleaned up a bit, there’s one around 1:59:50, however, these are few and far between. The plotlines cut out make perfect sense to be removed and don’t negatively affect the edit. There are, however, a few moments in the reworked narrative that don’t completely work. Some of the story editing before the Hoth Battle doesn’t quite work, and some of the editing around removing Han’s capture is a bit clunky, but this does function quite well.

My biggest complaint is the use of the SC-38 fan film version of Obi-Wan and Darth Vader’s duel. I don’t dislike the idea of using it, but too much of the sequence is used and I think it would have been much stronger if only the first part of that sequence was in the edit. The second and third times you cut to it just don’t work because the production values between the 2 scenes are just way too big to be natural and the added music and the added shots during the death scene only diminish the entire sequence. The death should have just been the original scene. My only other complaints are that I feel the opening with Rogue One and the ending using A New Hope don’t really work. However, I still thought the edit as a whole was really well done, and I’d recommend it to anyone who wants a shorter version of the original trilogy.

Very entertaining and fun to watch. I've seen these movies 100 times since the late 80's so i could notice nearly everything that was done and it was done nearly perfect. I only thought one or two spots were quick or awkward. I was very impressed with how he cut out the whole Jabba plot and kept Han out of carbonite, I have to watch it again because I barely noticed how it happened.

The only thing I really didn't feel good about was the final medal awarding scene taken from episode IV, it didn't jive with me. Luke de-aged and it felt rushed after he just burned Vaders Body. In my humble opinion i would cut that and go straight to the '2 years' later training scene and roll credits.

But over all it was very creative and a clever rewriting of the story line. I'll definitely watch it a second time.

Do, or do not, there is no try! Well, damn it, Subjectzero did it!

Despite a few minor things, I quite enjoyed the edit. Combining 3 beloved movies, 4 if you count Rogue One, is not an easy task, but Sub manages to deliver a fresh take grown with. I appreciate the effort.

The editor successfully managed to merge the three films into a cohesive narrative. And he was very smart in the way he reorganized the material, especially from TESB, to remove Han's capture. Because we know the original material, we can find small flaws, but I think it would be impossible to do better with what is available. Space battles are very exciting and worth mentioning.
The technical aspects are impeccable, both in image and sound.

Finally, it is an excellent edition, which, although it may not please purists, updates and brings a new look to the classic trilogy. I look forward to part 3 with a high expectation.

Congratulations to the Editor!
