Star Wars: Episode III - Labyrinth Of Evil

Many small dialogues trims work wonders here. All of the cringey dialogue bits seem gone. And Jar Jar's one line is gone, always remove him as much as possible.

Implying the dream as having been planted by Palpatine is a stroke of genius, it makes so much more sense. Midichlorians are also, thankfully, gone.

The full uninterrupted duel on Mustafar is so much fun. The “high ground” silliness was trimmed, as it should.

The version is as much of an improvement as it should be possible. It is my go-to version.

This is definitely one of the better edits of Episode III that I've seen, and one of the most professional looking. The visuals and audio editing are flawless.

There are a few things I maybe would've cut, but overall this flows the best and feels like a proper ending to the trilogy. I especially like the way Padme's death (or lack thereof) was handled, and also the integration of the deleted scenes. Anakin's turn to the dark side works much better here and feels more natural. Some of the inappropriately dark stuff has been removed, which frankly I appreciated. I felt the killing of younglings was just too bleak for Star Wars, so having that removed was nice.

Overall one of the best Episode III edits. I haven't seen Hal9000's other Star Wars edits, but I intend to go back and view them after enjoying this one.

More enjoyable than I anticipated, much more enjoyable.

This really harks back to the earliest SW releases, which echoed old Republic serials.

Try not to be a nitpicker. If I had noticed awkward chops I would mention them.
None that I could see.

Regarding audio editing, at one point, some of the dialogue between Palpatine and Anakin went slightly out of sync for me. To be honest, that could have been my doing.
I got the 720 mp4, and for whatever reason, it would not fit onto an 8.5 DVD. I tweaked the file through Handbrake (sorry, I know this potentially irritates editors). So the brief sync problem could have stemmed from modifying.

Aside from Christensen's wobbly performance, I always liked this installment.
Not really certain what HAL did, but Christensen seemed more villainous here.
His limited acting skills, I viewed through this edit as flawed arrogance.
I I I was a jucier portrayal after Attack Clones.
Again, I credit Hal for cranking the pace - truncating lulls - so I did not have time to focus on out-of-character miscues or muddled narrative.
Really fine edit here. Cannot praise it enough.
I realize this franchise suffers over-saturation, yet I hope more members check out Labyrinth Of Evil.
Well worth the effort.

I couldn't bring myself to watch the two preceding edits in Hal's prequel trilogy, as I dislike the source material to such an extreme degree that it renders evaluation pointless. However, I've always found Episode III to be at least marginally enjoyable, so I gave this one a spin to see how it could be improved upon. I think I made the right decision.

First of all, this is a thoroughly professional looking and sounding edit. All of the cuts were invisible and well-timed. The film has better pacing, never too fast or slow, with a nicely struck balance between the different plot threads. As far as narrative changes, Hal's intentions were right-headed, and I believe they were well-executed. I want to especially applaud the expanded role given to Padme. I always thought it was shameful the way she was treated in the theatrical trilogy, increasingly sidelined and impotent until she has no bearing on the plot outside of unknowingly motivating Anakin to act. Here, she has a more fleshed out role in the political conflict with Palpatine, and it serves both to strengthen her as a character and to complicate her relationship with an already torn Anakin, adding depth to their scenes together. I also really loved the way the Mace Windu/Palpatine duel plays out, with the lights and all the pacing changes, so a special kudos for that. I do think the scene with Anakin and Padme staring out of their respective windows across the city is a bit awkward without any voiceover, but it's a minor complaint.

I watched the 1080p MKV file, which, while looking brilliant for most of the running time, did betray a marked drop in video quality when the deleted scenes popped up. It in no way called into question the inclusion of these scenes, but it was noticeable enough to distract a bit.

I highly recommend this edit, as it is easily the best version of Episode III that I've seen. It's still a thoroughly ridiculous movie, but if you're okay with that, you won't go wrong here.

For me the best of the Episode III edits, except for a couple of editing choices this is my ideal version. HAL9000's changes demonstrate how there always was a decent film in the mostly-serviceable theatrical cut and make one wonder at what was going through the original editors' minds, did they set out to create a plot hole intentionally?

For me at least, this is now a film I can show other people and not need to give an explanation for liking.
