Don's edit is a valiant attempt to salvage a divisive film that left many fans feeling betrayed. This fan edit strips away the excess fat, focusing on the core narrative of Rey, Luke, and Kylo Ren while excising controversial elements that plagued the original release. Gone are the cringe-worthy attempts at humor, the pointless Canto Bight subplot, and Leia's space-flying scene. The result is a leaner, more focused film that clocks in at a brisk 110 minutes. Luke Skywalker's character arc feels more respectful to the legacy of the original trilogy, and the pacing benefits greatly from the tighter edit. However, this cut isn't without its flaws. Some transitions feel abrupt, and the narrative coherence occasionally suffers due to the extensive cuts. The audio mixing is inconsistent in places, and some visual effects shots show their limitations when zoomed or slowed down. Despite these minor issues, this edit succeeds in its primary goal: making TLJ is a more palatable experience for disappointed fans. It won't convert die-hard critics of the sequel trilogy, but it offers a refreshing alternative that feels more in line with the spirit of Star Wars. While not perfect, Don's edit proves that there's a good movie buried within TLJ. For those seeking a version that respects the legacy of the franchise while streamlining the narrative, the Anti-Cringe Cut is a commendable effort that's worth your time.

I walked out of my first viewing of The Last Jedi, which was an early preview showing, absolutely shell shocked. What just happened? What was that? I went back for showings with my wife and friends in the theater, and dutifully purchased the blu ray upon release, but the only time I've watched my copy was in preparation for The Rise of Skywalker.

However, this edit did the impossible: it gave me a way to enjoy this film. Honestly, this is not hyperbole. This is now my go-to way to revisit the film and favorite fan edit of the material. I cannot recommend this highly enough! Thank you Don!

Blown away by this. I am not the biggest hater of The Last Jedi (I love its themes of internal conflict and how the Jedi spun the Force as their own tool), but the lows of the film have always been incredibly low (Leia Poppins and the Casino Planet). The Anti-Cringe Cut fixes almost all of my qualms about the film, cutting out the pointless subplots and awkward jokes. As with any fan edit there are a few noticeable moments where clips jump or continuity of a scene is off, but you take those with a grain of (red) salt. Not kidding when I say, this would make TLJ jump from bottom 3 to top 3 in my Star Wars rankings; really impressed by the work Dom did here.
