Synopsis:
The Expanded Edition aims to extend Revenge of the Sith to its maximum possible length with finished effects. Using Octorox's edit as a base, I've added a slew of new scenes and moments to make Episode III as long as possible.
Twelve new, alternate and extended scenes have been masterfully restored added back into the final prequel film with 11 more minutes of footage.

Intention:
I wanted to create the ultimate cut of Revenge of the Sith, which is my favourite of the prequels, with every usable scene and leaving nothing unturned. Past extended editions hadn't dipped into the Blu-Ray or the other little tidbits from other more obscure sources, so as VFX Supervisor John Knoll says "we threw in everything but the kitchen sink, so we put a sink in"

GREVIOUS SLAUGHTERS SHAAK TI
This scene had mostly finished effects during Shaak Ti's death while their escape through the fuel tank is very raw and missing some footage so it isn't so cohesive. So instead a trimmed version is used, using some audio bits from TM2YC's Reborn edit and some new score to bridge us into the next deleted scene. One of Grevious' lines was reused in the final film in the bridge scene ("fine addition to my collection"), so I replaced it with an audio line from the PS2 game instead of cutting the shot out and it works great,
ELEVATOR ANTICS
This scene is mostly in the finished film, but the bookends were deleted and the middle of the scene remains. The opening with Anakin talking droid was cut into the film and the end with Obi-Wan and Anakin mocking the droids after destroying them all in the elevator saying "Roger Roger" has been faded back into the original scene. The deleted scene on the Blu-Ray has unfinished effects and the theatrical shot cuts early so I had to colour correct and fade them into each other. There was some extra footage after, but was too unfinished and unimportant to include
ADVANTAGE
Dooku's new line was taken from the PS2 game as the cutscenes include clips from the film itself. However one cutscene included some extra footage of Dooku saying "Just because there are two of you, do not assume you have the advantage". So it was reformatted it and coloured to match the final film, adding three more fun seconds of Christopher Lee
CONSTITUTIONAL ADJUSTMENTS
The Blu-Ray included this scene with the window effects being about 95% complete, but it still holds up against the rest of the film. The colour needed a lot of shot by shot colour work to match it to the final film. The scene is in the film for the most part but this new footage is extending the start of the scene.
ALLIANCE WITHIN THE SENATE SCENES
The subplot has been cut back into many fan edits already, so the scenes have been worked on by Hal9000 and Sir Ridley to upscale them to 1080p HD, which look incredible. So these scenes were added by Octorox in his own EE, which was the base for this edit.
PLOT TO DESTROY THE JEDI
This scene was apart of the film before being mostly reshot and moved to later on. So that later scene was cut and this was reinserted early in Act 2. It was cut into Hal9000's Labyrinth of Evil, so I replicated his edit. Not exactly to the tee as he cuts out lines, but I made it very similar without cutting anything.
YODA'S COMMUNE WITH QUI-GON
An episode of the Clone Wars animated series "Voices" focused around Yoda being told by Qui-Gon to go to Dagobah and train to become a force ghost. Somehow, they couldn't get Liam Neeson back for Episode III, but they did for the show which surprised me. Octorox used 3 lines for his extended edition due to the lack of footage to put it over, but I did create a longer version with the workprint footage using more dialogue from the episode, which can be seen in the bonus features of this edit.
PALPATINE'S ARRIVAL
A quick 3 second shot of Palpy's shuttle arriving on Coruscant can be seen as taken from the 2nd trailer and added back into the film. Colour correction and some conversion back to 23.976fps was also done.
YODA'S EXILE
One of producer Rick McCallum's favourite scenes and one that he hated to cut out and I agree with him. It's barely 20 seconds long and it's a nice scene to see Yoda arriving on a planet where we will find him in Empire. Another addition from Octorox.

- Added another scene of senators saying they need to form an alliance in the Senete against Palps
- Added the senators confronting Palps, and that a return to democracy is needed

Star Wars Episode II and III both suffer from the removal of scenes that were necessary to better flesh out these characters and improve their character motivations. A lot of Palpatine manipulating Anakin was cut out for the theatrical release, causing his turn to the dark side feeling rushed and unjustified. While this cut doesn't restore everything (Jedi Masters being the only ones with the Force Heal ability and the rumors of Obi Wan and Padme having an affair) the things that it did manage to restore helped the narrative tremendously. Restoring the Rebel Alliance scenes also helped Padme feel more active in the narrative, which was severely lacking in the theatrical cut and is a shame because she was such a great character in Episode I and II.
The only Scene that I think was clumsily re-inserted was the Shaak Ti death scene. The dialogue of the Scenes with Grevious that remained in the theatrical release is pretty clear about this being the first time the characters meet each other. That exchange is a little bit awkward with the Shaak Ti scene restored and I'm pretty sure, if her alternative death in the Jedi Temple was more finished we'd likely see that in an expanded cut instead.
I rewatched this Saga with my Partner who hasn't ever seen these movies before. They thoroughly enjoyed every movie we watched so far (IV, V, VI, I, II, III) and didn't feel strongly enough have any complaints about any of them. After pointing out which scenes were deleted they exclaimed how they can definitely understand why the prequel movies might have been poorly received. Which is why I started out this review the way I did and it genuinely makes me wonder how many movies can be improved by restoring deleted scenes.
Watching the extended/expanded cuts of these movies is the definitive way of experiencing the Star Wars Saga.

A very technically well done edit, though there was a noticeable drop in video quality on a few of the re-inserted deleted scenes, and there were a few noticeable audio/visual syncing issues.
The scenes with the Rebel Alliance senators and Yoda were the best additions to the narrative, as was Liam Neeson's Clone Wars voice cameo. The addition of General Grievous killing Shaak Ti was the only real drawback to the narrative, it created story inconsistencies and slowed down the pace of the Chancellor's rescue.
Overall, a recommended edit for those who want to see the complete "Revenge of the Sith."

Really appreciated getting to appreciate a richer and more complex version of this story, And the deleted scene restoration job is high quality, A noticeable improvement over the og, and a great time on its own.

Not a lot to criticize here. It's a miracle Bobson managed to pull this off so nicely. Really, really great extra-extended edition of this movie I love so much. Very high quality given the source material. If you're looking for as much ROTS as possible, this is it.

This fanedit is for those that loved ROTS "as-is" , saw those deleted scenes and now - YOU REALLY WANT those put back into the movie as professionally as possible. This is it!
As I have made a return to the fanedit scene and noticed a new batch of folks using new technology and continuing this fantastic way of watching the movies we purchased and own. Yes, an extended version of ROTS exists made about 10 years ago by ADigitalMAn which I obtained back then and continued to watch it for years. However, when I saw this latest extended cut -- I had to give it a try!
First off - the downloaded version I obtained while it had superior video quality, unfortunately the sound was 2-channel and not surround. I suspect this is because of download size and time constraints. Therefore PLEASE contact me as I want to make arrangements to obtain the MOST SUPERIOR COPY you have - via download or whatever...as I love your fanedit and want to make it part of my collection and show it to other Star Wars fans. The audio and script edits/additions, were amazing and smooth and I totally enjoyed this improvement over my original fanedit.
Let's discuss the Grevious Jedi Slaughter and Elevator Antics addition - my original extended cut put this back in too, but with the unfinished scene of them traveling in the fuel liquid being pursued by droids. While at first I was concerned about this being left out as I was used to it from my original fanedit, after watching this NEW cut - I'm glad you left it out...as with the superior sound and picture, this makes sense and showing the unfinished footage would have been too awkward now!
Therefore, your thought process in making this new extended cut really highlights your upgrades in sound, script, and editing and is impressive! Therefore - I love it and hope you do this with the other Star Wars flicks as well! While there are fanedits that make drastic changes to an original cut - sometimes folks just want those deleted scenes skillfully re-added to make an extended cut and you do it very professionally - please keep it up!
